Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 93: Arriving at Alex’s Family Home
Chapter 93: Arriving at Alex’s Family Home
Every time Aurora approaches the road where the tragic accident claimed her life, a chill runs through her body.
Passing by that spot stirred up some difficult memories and emotions in her heart. She tried to conceal her painful emotions, fearing that Alex, who was sitting next to her, would notice something unusual about her.
However, not long after, her cell phone vibrated gently in her bag. Aurora felt a rush of surprise when she saw who was contacting her.
She recognized it as a notification from the special apps, accessible only to significant contacts searching for Zee, her other alias.
’Brother Joe?’ She silently read the sender’s name. Her heart clenched as she sensed the urgency of the message from Joe, the owner of Nubox Junction.
Once she confirmed Alex wasn’t paying attention to her, Aurora opened the apps and read the text: "Zee, someone wants to meet you. Are you interested?"
’This is interesting!’ she wondered curiously. Only a few were aware of her ties to Joe, Nubox Junction.
"Bro, you have never even met me in person. How can you expect me to meet that person?"
Aurora sent the message after rereading it several times. However, she quickly typed another message before placing her cell phone in her bag.
"Is this person important enough for you to contact me for a meeting?"
"I’m not sure how influential he was, but he will pay you ten times the amount you usually accept. Their task was pretty simple; he only wanted you to investigate someone."
Aurora chuckled after reading that. Unsurprisingly, he reached out to her; this was about money for a simple job.
Even she is tempted by the offer. Ten times the standard fee is no small sum. She could buy luxury property in this country’s capital with that much money.
’This is interesting. However, why do they want to meet? What is that person’s purpose?’ This question troubled her mind. Only three people know her identity as Zee; even Alex and Patrick are unaware of it.
After a moment of thought, Aurora saw the car finally arrive at Alex’s family’s house. She quickly typed a reply to Joe. freēwēbnovel.com
"Bro, I’ll reach out to you later. I’m currently busy with something."
As she hit ’Send,’ Alex’s voice caught her attention, prompting her to quickly turn off her cell phone and toss it into her bag.
"What are you busy with?" he asked.
Aurora felt her heart racing like she had just been caught red-handed doing something terrible.
She paused before replying, offering him a smile while ensuring her handbag was tightly in place.
"I’m not too busy. I’m just sending a quick reply to a friend," she answers with a warm smile, gently shifting her body away from him.
Alex nodded before asking her to step out as the car door opened.
A wave of mixed emotions, worry, and nervousness wrapped around her again, making her hands feel cold.
With every step she took following Alex into the house, she could feel her heart beating faster. Her concern was not about being in this house for the first time as Alex’s new wife; instead, she was anxious that the people inside would recognize her as Aurora Moon.
"Don’t worry..." Alex’s soothing words eased her anxiety, but when he extended his hand for her to hold, her heart began to race once more.
’My goodness, can you please calm down, Rory? Can you stop worrying about something that will never happen? This is just an act, alright!’ She tried to quiet her restless mind while accepting Alex’s hand.
Under his grip, she didn’t feel any better, but her mind became more chaotic as if a parade were happening inside. This only added to her frustration.
She wanted to release Alex’s warm hand, but his grip was too firm.
Later, as they entered the corridor leading to the living room, Aurora noticed Alex leaning closer to her.
"My family won’t harm you; they are all very kind. You don’t have to say a word if you’re worried about feeling nervous to talk to them. Just stay close to me, and I’ll handle everything. You’ll be just fine," he whispers.
Aurora nods faintly before expressing her concerns: "Alex, what if they want to test us? I mean, they might not believe our sudden marriage, right?" She knows his mother must be questioning them for sure.
Alex took a moment, squinting at her in confusion.
"What’s got you concerned about that? Did you check your email for the question and answer? All the information about me is there," he said.
Aurora was taken aback to hear that.
"You sent it? When did you send it?" she asked, reaching for her cell phone to check his email, but Alex’s following words stopped her.
"For God’s sake, Aurora. How could you not read it?" Alex was astonished. He had already sent her the questions and answers so she could memorize them in case his parents or other family members asked.
"I... I haven’t checked my email since yesterday," Aurora replied honestly.
Yesterday, after the incident at her parents’ house, she hadn’t checked her cell phone. She just turned it on this morning, and the numerous notifications immediately prompted her to clear them all.
Alex found himself at a loss for words. He felt annoyed, but her fearful and anxious expression compelled him to take a deep breath.
They were already here anyway; he could do nothing except avoid having his family talk to her. He would find a way to escape from this party.
"It’s fine! I’ll handle everything... but please remember to answer honestly about yourself. You don’t have to hide anything. As for where we met, tell them we met in Opal City with your father last year."
"Hmm, I see," she replied as she felt the tension in her heart increase.
"Avoid answering anything if you’re unsure about the response; just smile at them..." he said, holding her hand tightly before walking.
Aurora swallows hard, trying to ease her nerves and match his step.
