Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 214: The Most Important Person
Chapter 214: The Most Important Person
When Brooke arrived at the restaurant, she was surprised to see no one else in the vicinity. Right from the parking lot, only hers and Thane’s car was parked outside. As the staff welcomed her into the reserved area, she noticed how empty the space was at the time.
She was so bothered by this that she had to ask Thane upon sitting, "This place is so nice, yet there’s no one else here, why is that?"
But Thane was not bothered by that, all he could focus on was staring at his wife, whom despite her messy hair and tired look still looked quite charming.
He explained clearly, "This restaurant is invite only. I met the owner a few years back at a family event, before this place was founded. Coincidentally, we met a year later, and I ended up loaning him some money for a startup business. It seems that my bet on him was right, the returns of this place is pretty decent."
"You get a cut out of his earnings?" Brooke asked, her eyes taking in the ethereal interior of the place.
Thane answered, "Only for two years more, part of my terms for giving out the loan was a ten percent share of any and all returns made by this business, five years after the loan had been taken. A term in most of my loan contracts."
Brooke was surprised to learn this, "Most of your loan contracts? I never knew you gave out loans, I didn’t peg you for the type."
"And what type is that?" He asked, handing her the menu.
Sheepishly she answered, "Someone who took risks, I always felt you were more calculating and sought for a sure gamble rather than chasing possibilities." In a lower tone she added, "That was why I found it hard to believe that someone like you would want to work with a person like me."
After speaking she waited for Thane to say something her eyes glued on the priceless menu, but he kept quiet. It wasn’t until half a minute later that he reached onto his lap and pulled out a black folder.
Sliding it across the table, he said, "If that is how you see me, then you were my surest gamble Brooke."
Hearing his words she picked up the folder, curious as to what it was. She stared at the first page, her gaze immediately locked on the title at the very top of the document.
Her eyes went wide, "This is..."
Thane flattened his lips into a satisfied grin, "I have been meaning to give you this as a wedding gift," he stretched his hand across and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "Sorry it took so long to get you."
"A-A wedding gift? This is Luther’s company transfered to my name!" She cried out.
"How did you manage this?" She questioned flipping through the pages until she got to the part where she saw Luther’s signature. Considering how long she worked for his company, she knew his signature quite well.
This was real, Thane Grayson had just gotten her Luther’s greatest achievement as a wedding gift.
"It was nothing hard, I knew how much you suffered, I simply wanted to give you something to make up for all you went through." Thane explained.
Still stunned by the present she asked, "Does Luther know he transferred ownership to me?"
He shook his head, "No, he doesn’t."
"Is this legal? Taking the company this way." Of course the contract stated her name fully, but seeing as Luther had signed this she could guess he was in a situation where he couldn’t read the whole thing.
Thane calmly explained, "He signed the documents intentionally, he wasn’t physically forced into it, and he was aware of what he was doing. If he didn’t take the time to read properly, that is no fault of ours."
He noticed the slight frown on her face and immediately guessed she did not like the approach. "I apologize, my methods might’ve been a bit underhanded, but there was no other indirect way to-" his words were sharply cut off by Brooke.
"No, you’ve got it all wrong Mr Grayson." Her frown contorted into a candid smile. "On the contrary I very much like this gift, it makes sense that someone as shifty as Luther got his business taken away in the same manner, serves him right."
Her response earned a chuckle out of Thane, "Is that so?" He sounded amused, purely because he had spent the past hours worrying he had done something that would upset Brooke.
Explaining herself she told him, "I’m worried that I don’t have a gift of this caliber to give you, to be completely honest I haven’t even considered a wedding gift."
Seeing Thane’s efforts made it seem like he was the only one placing effort into the relationship.
Her husband however thought the opposite, "Brooke, you being with me is the greatest gift I could ever ask for. To me, I could give you everything I own, and would still never deserve you." He confessed, his eyes holding nothing but sincerity.
The sound of Brooke’s beating heart nearly drowned the sound of his voice, with each word he spoke she felt even more nervous around him. But nervous in a good way, she set the document on the table and raised her gaze to meet his.
"Thane," she called out to him, his name uttered with the utomost tenderness, her eyes gazing at him as though he were the most precious thing to grace the planet. "I have never loved anyone as much as I love you. Even if I lived a thousand lives, I would never meet another person who means what you mean to me."
Her words clear and slow, she said, "Right from when we were younger, up until when I take my dying breath, you are the single most important person in my life, and I would not have it any other way."
