Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 92: His Loving Gaze Makes Her Confused
Chapter 92: His Loving Gaze Makes Her Confused
Aurora noticed him clear his throat while looking away.
"Are you done here?" Alex asked, not even glancing at her.
"Yes, I am done." She felt slightly puzzled as she remembered the man just a moment ago, looking at her with such an unfamiliar, loving gaze.
Now, though, his expression had changed back to a blank look, as if that special moment had never taken place at all.
"Okay, let’s go!" He turned back and walked toward the parking area, leaving Aurora speechless.
Despite everything, Aurora remained by his side. She honestly didn’t want to dampen his mood. It could be exhausting to fly nearly three hours to the capital if his mood took a nosedive once more.
...
Spectra City.
Upon arriving in the capital, they went directly to Alex’s residence at Green Hills.
The shadows of her past life returned. This was the second time she was in the car with him on the way home, just as they had done in the past.
While spending time in the car with him wasn’t the most enjoyable experience, they managed to share a few moments in silence on the way home, only exchanging a handful of words until they arrived.
Even after they arrived and had lunch, Alex was once again hesitant to engage in conversation with her. He merely reminded her that someone would be coming to assist her with all the necessary preparations before they left for the birthday party.
As she entered her room, a wave of relief immediately enveloped her.
After a few hours with Alex, it felt as if half of her soul had betrayed her. She sank onto the bed, seeking some comfort.
...
Aurora was uncertain how long she had been sleeping without changing her clothes.
A gentle voice softly called to her repeatedly, just loud enough to encourage her to open her eyes, which felt so heavy, as if someone had put a thick layer of glue on her eyelids.
Alex’s figure appeared in her sight, shocking her. His confused and panicked expression made it clear that she had overslept, prompting him to come and wake her up.
"A-Alex..." Her voice was rough, and her throat hurt, feeling dry as though a lump was lodged in it.
"We’re going to Grandpa’s birthday; why are you still sleeping?" he asked, his tone displeased.
"I’m sorry..." Aurora murmured as she attempted to rise and sit on the edge of the bed. His towering frame before her only heightened her discomfort.
"Get yourself in the game and focus, Aurora. Don’t ruin this plan!" he said curtly, taking a deep breath.
"Hmmm, I won’t ruin it. Don’t worry; no one will know our relationship was unreal. Promise." She smiled while trying to gather her thoughts. She can’t believe this man really drains her mood, leaving only an ounce behind.
"Great! I will keep your promise."
"Alex, can you leave me alone? I need to prepare, and I didn’t plan to undress before you," she said, shooing him away with her words.
Glancing at the bedside table to check the time surprised her.
’Gosh! There’s still an hour before they leave. Why is he so panicked?’ She vented her frustration while standing up.
Even when standing, she was just shorter than his shoulder. This made her feel uneasy about his presence.
Alex chuckled silently as he heard her words. ’Who on earth wants to see you naked? Girl, you’ll be disappointed because I’m not interested in you...’
After calming his annoyance, he said calmly, "No need to do anything. The person who will help you is already outside with Tina."
He walked toward the door, but before opening it, he stopped and looked at her again. "I hope to see you in one hour..."
Aurora simply nods at him, yet she scolds him relentlessly in her mind.
One hour later.
Aurora stands before the mirror, looking at her reflection. She feels as if she is seeing a different person instead of herself.
’Heaven! Why do I look old now? No... No... but I look mature!’ Aurora silently swallows, unable to believe what she has seen.
She has long, wavy black hair cascading down her back. The wig effectively conceals her injured head.
Nonetheless, the stylist ruined her lovely face with bright red lipstick, which she absolutely disliked. She feels grateful that the stylist allowed her to wear her chosen dress—a simple knee-length gown in dark navy. Otherwise, she might have ended up in a red gown.
The thought of her stepping into the birthday party and becoming the center of attention causes her stomach to flutter.
’Calm down, Rory. Relax. Everything will be alright. At least no one will notice your stunning ash-gray hair,’ Aurora silently says.
She imagines that Alex’s mother, Sophia, will immediately dislike her if she thinks her gray hair is unnatural; Sophia might label her as a young girl who enjoys dyeing her hair a strange color.
"Oh my lord, ma’am, you look stunning! I’ve never seen you in such bold lipstick, and you look incredibly classy!" Tina’s praise didn’t uplift her mood but made her feel even more under pressure.
"Ma’am, what Aunty Tina said is true. You look more elegant and graceful with this look. I hope you allow me to style your hair into a bun. Your beauty will truly stand out." The amazed stylist also expressively praised her.
Aurora says nothing but smiles weakly at them. She hurriedly grabs her golden clutch and puts on the four-inch stilettos before she sighs deeply and looks at the door.
"Alright, I must go now, or my husband will come with an upset look..." She takes one last look at her reflection in the mirror before heading to the door.
When Aurora stood before Alex, the only thing on her mind was to observe his reaction when he looked at her rather than judging his appearance.
But she quickly forgot about that, as she was stunned to see him looking gorgeous and fabulous in a navy blue suit that matched the color of her dress.
’How could I choose the same color as his suit?’ She silently praised her choice, but her happiness dimmed once more when she heard his words.
"Hmmm. You are three minutes late. Now, hurry up! We need to get there before the other guests arrive..." Alex walked ahead without waiting for her.
