Chapter 170: The Results Shocked Her!

"No. Of course not. But, this is related to my client." This is the best way for her to talk about it to Danny; she thinks of her client, not herself.

"Don’t worry, Rory!" Danny assured confidently, "Even if you get a lawsuit, I’ll always be here for you, standing strong—even if it requires huge sacrifices like selling my soul to the devil!"

Aurora can’t help but laugh at his words. She instantly recalls how Danny loved to watch Devil’s Advocate.

"Tsk! Tsk! Big bro, you have to stop watching your favorite movie..." she teased him. "That’s not my case, alright. But my client!"

"I was only trying to lighten the mood, little sister. So, what happened with your client? Tell me about it..."

Aurora rose from the sofa, walked over to the corner French window, and began narrating to him.

"My client had a son who tragically passed away in a car accident. His parents were determined to uncover the truth about the incident. They did find some evidence, but it appeared somewhat vague—just a journal entry hinting at a mastermind plan to eliminate my client’s son..."

She continued to explain that the client’s father had already worked hard to find the evidence. Unfortunately, they hadn’t discovered any solid evidence yet.

"So, your question is: can they take the perpetrator to court based solely on a journal?"

"Yeah, that’s what my client asked for." Aurora was eager to hear his response.

Danny took a moment to respond, which heightened Aurora’s anxiety about hearing his answer.

Aurora truly wished that Danny could provide her with a solution, despite already knowing the answer. She simply wanted to hear it directly from a legal expert.

"Well, my friend, it’s pretty obvious that this case can’t go to court, especially if the perpetrator is someone with a powerful background," Danny said thoughtfully.

’I knew it!’ Aurora exhaled deeply as she gazed at the solitary moon in the night sky. She starts to feel stressed because her special tracking program can’t find even a single solid hint.

Aurora truly admired Andrew Graystone. He was skilled at what he did. He used a method that someone like her, a hacker, would never uncover—utilizing an analog approach that left no digital trace or record.

She even investigated nearly everyone who worked closely with Andrew Graystone, but couldn’t find anyone with suspicious actions or behavior.

"But, Rory, if they have an impressive lawyer like me or someone from my firm, that’s a whole different situation," Danny said with a tone that brought Aurora back from her wandering thoughts. "No one in this country can escape our grasp, Rory. You know that for certain, right?"

Aurora can’t deny him. He is indeed right about it.

"If your client is genuinely seeking justice, have them contact me. I’m here to help!" Danny suggested. "However, I need to know when the accident occurred. There is a time limit if the incident took place years ago..."

"Within this year!" Aurora replies right away.

"I see..." Danny’s voice sounds softer, but moments later, he adds with curiosity, "So it’s your case? Who killed you?"

Hearing Danny’s words feels like lightning struck her—she’s too shocked! How the hell did he know that?

’Damn it! Did I say too much to make him suspicious?’ Aurora scolds herself internally. She forgot she was speaking to the clever Danny, the best investigator she had ever known.

"Heaven! This isn’t about me, Danny. Can you stop making assumptions?" she replied casually.

"I can tell when you’re lying, Rory. Please be honest with me... I’m here to help you."

Aurora playfully scolds Danny in her mind before replying, "Geez, you are so stubborn, big bro... if this is my case, I will run to Alex first, not you," she chuckled warmly.

"Ah, I forgot you married him. Damn!" A gentle laugh echoed from the other end, reassuring Aurora that Danny was no longer suspicious of her.

"Dan, I need to go now; my husband needs me. I’ll text you the address later. See you on Monday!"

Aurora quickly ended the call, anxious that Danny might pressure her into discussing the mastermind behind her accident. She can’t bring herself to share anything.

...

"Ding!"

The sound notification from her laptop startled Aurora. She knew exactly what the sounds signified: the program had found what she was looking for.

’God, we got a clue!’ she muttered while rushing back to the sofa.

She quickly checked her running program. It had stopped working, and a notification had appeared in the corner.

A joyful smile brightened her face when she first looked at her program’s search results. However, moments later, her optimistic expression changed to shock.

’What the...? Why is this number connected to the incident?’

Her entire body felt frozen as she stared at the phone number on her computer screen. She stared at the number repeatedly, hoping she had seen it wrong, but the result was always the same.

Aurora refused to believe what she saw. She quickly typed to check the phone number’s owner, hoping she was mistaken.

In seconds, the profile of the phone number’s owner appears on her monitor.

"No! This can’t be right. Why is my dad involved? This is absurd..." Aurora muttered, her voice filled with confusion. She rose from her seat and began to pace back and forth, struggling to process her shock.

There’s no way her father planned her accident.

’This is just ridiculous. How could my dad do that? That’s Impossible!’

After a while, a thought crossed her mind, and a sinister smile formed on her lips.

’Damn it, I know it! Andrew Graystone is truly a cunning, wicked man! Did he attempt to frame my father if the police discovered a clue he had kept under wraps? He used my father as his pawn to evade his crime?’

Aurora’s eyes returned to her laptop screen.

"Rory, take a deep breath! You need to focus and clear your mind!"

She sighed deeply and shut her eyes. After repeating this a few times, she eventually felt calmer.

"Alex! I really need to talk to Alex..."

Aurora takes her laptop and heads to Alex’s study room.
