Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 171: She Told Alex!
Chapter 171: She Told Alex!
As Aurora stood outside Alex’s study, she sighed deeply, almost without a sound, before knocking.
"Alex, it’s me. May I come in..." she asked when she heard him ask.
A slight frown creased her forehead when she didn’t hear him respond.
Just as she was about to knock again, the door swung open, and Alex appeared with a concerned flash in his eyes.
"Aurora, are you okay?" Alex inquired, resting his hand on her forehead to feel her temperature.
"Alex, I’m fine."
A relieved smile lit up his lips.
"...I told you before, you only needed to call me. No need to bother yourself to come here; you still need more rest."
"I know, but Alex, we have something important to discuss. Do you have time now?"
With a warm chuckle, Alex guided her back to their bedroom.
"You look adorable now, Aurora. Why do you need to ask permission to talk to me? I’m not your boss; I’m your husband..." he remarked while resting his hand on her waist.
Aurora remained silent but followed him, struggling to control her emotions.
She was too afraid that she might faint again before they even talked about it.
...
After settling on the sofa, Aurora immediately opened the laptop on her lap and accessed the folder she had prepared to show Alex.
The folder held photos taken from Andrew Graystone’s diary.
She also included the report about the fuel truck driver who died a week ago.
But she didn’t include her father’s phone number there.
"You need to look at this, Alex!"
Aurora handed her laptop to Alex, who stared at her in confusion.
"What is this?" Alex asked as he accepted the laptop.
"You should look at the picture first," Aurora said gently, urging him to focus on the laptop screen.
Alex chuckled at her impatience. "Alright, I will check..." he said playfully, focusing on some pictures in the folder. However, the strange picture puzzled him.
He turned to her and asked, "Can you explain what this is? It confuses me to see another person’s diary."
"Damn it, Alex! Pay close attention to the picture." Aurora could no longer contain her emotions. "Focus on the handwriting. I think you will recognize who owns that journal!"
Alex was taken aback when Aurora snapped at him. It was the first time he had heard her speak with such anger. Her eyes mirrored both anger and sadness, leaving him even more confused.
He didn’t want to provoke her; he turned back to the laptop.
"This is my Grandpa’s handwriting. Aurora, why did you take a picture of his journal..." Alex’s voice faded when he saw ’September Six’ written there.
He would never forget that date for the rest of his life—the date he would regret the most.
’Eliminated? Who did Grandpa want to eliminate? Wait... this... September 6? Rory!?’ Hearing his thoughts was enough to make his hands tremble.
"No one can escape the Graystone! How dare he request permission for his daughter?"
"I can’t ignore it any longer! We need heirs for this bloodline to continue. How could my foolish grandson grow those forbidden loves in his head?"
"I believe GOD is by my side. There is no other path!"
"I apologize! However, this is the sole option. I sincerely apologize!"
Alex felt his blood run cold after reading all those lines in the picture.
There’s no need to ask Aurora for clarification; he already understood the meaning behind those words.
’Grandpa killed Rory? Why did he kill Rory? Why?’
Endless questions now swirled in his mind, tormenting him and plunging him back into the agony he felt upon learning about that day.
His hand became cold and shook as he struggled to control his intense emotions. He refused to believe that his grandfather could do something like that—killing the woman he cherished!
"Please tell me, what am I thinking now is wrong?" Alex wanted to say that, but none of his words ever left his lips; all he did was simply stare at her without making any sound, not even his breath.
Seeing her eyes red, as if she were holding back tears, surprised him.
Alex finally managed to ask her, "Where did you find this?"
When she heard Alex’s question, Aurora’s heart raced, and her eyes became misty with emotion. The tears she tried to hold back began to flow.
Rather than responding right away, she asked in a soft, trembling voice, "Do you understand the meaning of those words in the picture?"
Alex felt completely empty. He struggled against the agony and disbelief overwhelming him.
Weakly, he replied, "I know. Aurora, please tell me where you found this."
Aurora explained to him how she had accidentally found the journal.
Just like him, the moment she saw the date, her mind immediately went to the fatal accident. That’s why she recorded everything and planned to investigate the accident.
"Is that why you suddenly wanted to go home?" he asked.
"Ughh, sorry, I just can’t stay there after reading the journal!" Aurora continued sharing all the details of her investigation, even though she found herself at a dead end.
Unfortunately, what she has uncovered so far provides no evidence to support her suspicions—his Grandpa was entirely in the clear! This was a surprising twist compared to what she had read in the journal at the library.
Seeing Alex’s face turn crimson, Aurora paused to wait for his reaction. However, after waiting a few more minutes, he still said nothing and stared at her confusedly.
"Alex, I mentioned all this to ask for your help investigating. We need to know whether your Grandpa is involved or not. I need strong..." Aurora could not finish as Alex suddenly grabbed her hands, surprising her.
"Aurora, what is happening here? Why are you interested in investigating Rory’s death?"
Alex’s question sent a chill down Aurora’s spine, catching her off guard.
For a brief moment, they merely exchanged glances in silence.
Alex felt lost and confused. He no longer recognized the woman before him. He felt like he was talking with Aurora Moon!
Aurora’s protective wall around her heart fell apart; she could no longer contain her emotions, and her tears continued to flow.
"Alex, because... I am HER!" she said softly.
