Chapter 131: Did He Plan To Expose My Identity?

A week has passed.

Today is the long-awaited day for Aurora—her first day of internship at Stardust Tech.

She is excited to return to the company she has always considered her second home, where she spends nearly all her time.

Although eager to begin her day, she feels sad because Alex is still far away; he is on his business trip.

Their relationship has grown closer. Alex contacts her daily; they talk a lot over the phone, and every night, he ensures he does a video call before she goes to sleep.

Although Alex wishes to return today to support her on her first day, he cannot, as his business is not yet complete, and she stops him from doing so.

When Aurora arrived in the dining room, she saw Josh talking with Martin. He was dressed formally like an office worker, wearing a white shirt and dark brown trousers, which differed significantly from his usual dark outfit. He no longer wore his boots but instead wore shiny, dark brown leather shoes.

Martin warmly greeted her, "Good morning, ma’am..." as he helped her to her seat.

"Good morning, lady boss," Josh said with a playful tone.

Aurora greeted them warmly. She invited them to join her for a meal, but they declined, as usual.

She hurriedly enjoyed her breakfast, not wanting to be late on her first day as an intern, even though she knew her husband owned the company.

However, before she finished her delicious breakfast, she turned to see Josh again. "Are you also going to do undercover work at Stardust Tech, Josh?" She voiced her curiosity while narrowing her eyes at him.

"Yes, that’s the plan."

Aurora frowned.

Why did Josh need to go undercover when the company was genuinely safe? No one would dare to harm her in that place, right?

"Did my husband ask you to do this, or is it purely your idea?" she inquired.

Josh chuckled at her wary look. "Of course, it was your husband who assigned me."

"Why did he do that? Are you certain it was necessary?" she asked before sipping her morning coffee.

"Yeah. Your husband is concerned some young stranger might fall for you and fiercely stalk you. So, it’s my job to keep them away from you," Josh said casually, but Aurora gasped upon hearing it.

’Unbelievable, Alex even thinks that far!?’ She was left speechless and couldn’t believe what she had just heard.

As she was about to stand up to leave for her office, Martin’s words abruptly caused her to stop.

"Ma’am, young master Alex truly cares about you..." Martin added, further reddening Aurora’s cheeks, feeling embarrassed to hear this. "He genuinely fears that someone might steal your heart away."

Aurora smiles at Martin before answering, "Martin, why would I consider another man when my husband is Alexander Graystone?"

She would be foolish to leave Alex now. She needs to become his wife to have a chance to meet her father. Moreover, for now, Alex is the only man she truly knows; she grew up beside him.

And, after a few weeks of being his wife, she began to notice some unfamiliar feelings blossoming in her heart. Having not seen him for a week, she couldn’t help but miss him.

Josh suddenly laughed. "Hahaha, ma’am, you’re absolutely right. Only a foolish woman would cheat on a man like Boss Alex! However, I still need to guard you to ensure your friend didn’t try to steal you...I mean your heart!" He grinned.

Aurora smiles, suspecting Josh’s ulterior motive is to remain undercover and protect her, likely connected to Max.

She decided not to discuss that matter anymore; they really needed to get going now, or they could end up late.

With a polite smile, she stood up and left after excusing herself to Martin.

...

Shortly after their car got on the road toward the main business street, Josh, as usual, drove while she relaxed in the back seat.

Aurora felt no need to protest or worry about the seating arrangement, knowing they would park in the restricted area where other employees could not see her.

She is glad Alex left her the master access card, which allows her to access the entire building as much as she wants—the same card she had in her previous life.

After several moments of silence, Aurora finally looked at Josh. She needed to remind him of something, and now seemed like the perfect moment.

"Josh, did you tell Alex about my crush on Max? Is that why he had you follow me to Stardust Tech?" Aurora asks nonchalantly but secretly, eager to observe his response.

At a glance, she noticed the tension in Josh’s posture as he seemed unable to answer her.

After waiting a minute longer, Aurora chuckles at his stillness. "Well, Josh, since you are kind to me, I forgive you this time," she said playfully.

However, her tone turned serious. "But if you do it again and reveal my activity to Alex, I will ask him to replace you!"

As Aurora shifted her focus to the street, absorbed in thoughts about her new position at Stardust Tech, Josh’s voice suddenly echoed, causing her to turn her attention back to him.

"I’m sorry, Aurora. I only provide him with detailed reports when you’re at your campus or if your life is at risk. I hope you can understand."

"In the future, please talk to me before reporting to my husband!" She considered voicing this but stopped, guilty about complicating Josh’s life.

With a deep sigh, she replied, "I trust you, Josh. I already consider you a friend and family..." She meant it genuinely, as he truly was her best friend in her previous life. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

"Thank you, Aurora. I’ll keep that in mind."

They no longer talk about anything else, as Aurora starts chatting with Alex through text messages. She is in a good mood to receive his attention.

However, when the car finally stopped at the special lobby underground, she was stunned to see Patrick Wallace standing there.

"Did he come to wait for us?" she asked.

"It looks like..."

Aurora was speechless.

"Did he plan to expose my identity on my first day?"
