Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 130: Oh My Gosh He’s So Clingy!
Chapter 130: Oh My Gosh He’s So Clingy!
Aurora sat hurriedly, smoothing her hair, and narrowed her eyes at him.
"Josh, you need to get used to knocking before entering a room, especially my and your Boss’s rooms."
"I did knock. But no one answered my knock. Your silence concerned me, so I opened the door without waiting for your response. It’s a security detail’s habit." The regret in his eyes failed to convince her.
Aurora’s forehead furrowed in surprise at his explanation.
Really? She missed the knock entirely, or perhaps she was too absorbed and lost in her thoughts that she blocked any sound out and didn’t hear it. Silently sighing, Aurora set aside her confusion.
"Okay, whatever. Do you need anything from me?" She recalled informing him that she had no plans to go out today or maybe for the rest of the week.
Still leaning in the doorway, Josh gave a slight nod. "Yeah... Boss Alex called you many times, but you didn’t answer his calls. He asked me to check on you immediately."
Aurora quickly stood up from her seat, searching for her phone. However, even after flipping some sofa cushions, she still couldn’t find it.
She walked to Alex’s table to check her cell phone, but couldn’t find it.
’Wait! Where did I put it?’ Aurora muttered, frozen in place, trying to remember. She then realized she hadn’t seen her cell phone since last night.
"What’s wrong? Did you lose your phone?" he inquired.
Aurora glanced at Josh, who looked at her with a worried expression.
"I can’t remember where I placed it last time. Maybe in my bedroom..." A faint smile appeared on Aurora’s lips, and she felt embarrassed as she caught Josh laughing at her.
"Oh, forgetful already? You’re only twenty-two, yet you’re acting like an old soul, ma’am. Let me help you find it." Josh chuckled, finding her perplexed and irritated expression entertaining.
Aurora swallowed silently; Josh could sense her old soul. Her soul is indeed ancient; Aurora Moon is now thirty-three!
"Thank you, Josh, but there’s no need. I know I will find it in my room. I remember clearly leaving it there. And you... Get some rest. You look like you need it," Aurora replied as she left the office.
Aurora urged him to rest; she knew Josh must be exhausted after his intense work at Opal City.
"I’m perfectly fine and fresh!" Josh chuckled, running his fingers through his hair. "Seriously, Aurora, stop assuming I’m a weakling."
"I get it. But really, you don’t need to worry about me. I’m not going anywhere; I’ll only step out when my internship begins. So go ahead and relax for a week, Josh..."
"Alright, but... You know you can’t go out without me, right? It’s riskier, and Boss would also scold me if you did," he warned, concerned she might hurt herself again, which meant he would also get hurt by her husband.
She responded with an OK sign and gestured for him to leave.
...
Aurora walked to her room after seeing Josh return to the first floor. At the same time, the main bedroom door opened, and Martin came out, calling her.
"Martin, is everything okay? Oh, have you replaced the bed?" When Aurora hears her question, warmth rushes back to her face.
She feels embarrassed to realize why Alex replaced the bed; it was too large for them, keeping them far from each other.
’Geez! Alexander Graystone, you are such a pervert!’ She scolded him in her mind while making a mental note to seriously scold him later when he returned from his business trip.
"Yes, Ma’am. I also just finished cleaning the room. You can use the room and rest." Martin politely answered, stopping a few steps before her.
Though she didn’t say a word, she simply nodded at him. She was too busy to push Alex from her mind.
"Ma’am, your phone has been ringing for a while. It appears that Master Alex has called you several times..." he said while handing her the cell phone.
"Oh? Thank you, Martin."
After taking her cell phone, Aurora returned to Alex’s office. She was surprised to see so many missed calls and texts from him.
"Oh my gosh! Since when did he become so clingy? And why?"
Aurora shook her head and replied with a brief text. She hesitated to answer Alex’s call, fearing he might be in a meeting.
"I left my cell phone in the bedroom. Apologies!"
After sending the message, she set her phone on the table, took her laptop, and placed it on her lap. She was prepared to work and needed to review her secret underground business.
However, when she opened her laptop, an email distracted her; it was from Joe.
"Did bro Joe get another job offer for me?" she murmured as she opened the email. What she found there nearly made her burst into laughter.
Aurora had a feeling this would happen. She knew her dear cousin, Lucas Spencer, would probably have a lot to say if he looked at the results of the investigation report.
"Should I call Joe?" She pondered, staring at her cell phone. Just as she was about to call Joe, the loud ring of her cell phone suddenly shattered the silence in the room.
Seeing Alex’s name on the screen sends a wave of tension through her heart. She answers right away, and his soft voice comes through the line.
"Hello, are you alright?"
Aurora could sense the tension in his tone; it made her feel guilty for not responding to his call and text sooner.
"Hmm, yeah. I’m alright."
"What are you doing now?" he asked once more.
"I’m going to check my email," Aurora replied softly.
"I called you several times. Why didn’t you call me back?"
Aurora grips her cell phone tightly, trying to steady her thoughts as she hears his question. Somehow, she still battles the urge to ask him about the birthday gift she saw in his drawer.
Her mind was filled with many ideas, particularly about how to inform him of her rebirth. Suddenly, she considered texting him. Perhaps God would permit it.
"Alex, I apologize for making you worry. I didn’t reach out immediately because I thought you were in a meeting."
"Yeah, I do. But it’s all good if you call. The people I meet know I have a new wife, so they won’t mind if I call you or you call me during the meeting."
’No way!’ Aurora’s heart races. "Are you saying you are in the meeting right now?!"
"Yes. No need to worry. My COO handles the meeting while I’m talking with you."
Aurora was speechless. It was the first time she had heard him use his cell phone during an important meeting, and he allowed his COO, Jimmy, to speak on his behalf.
’Seriously! Are you really Alexander Graystone? The cold and indifference of Alexander Graystone?’
