Chapter 132: Welcome To Stardust Group!

Aurora turned to look at Josh, feeling helpless.

"Yeah, looks like!" Josh responded. He was also surprised to see Patrick standing in the lobby, likely waiting for them.

Josh’s response doesn’t quite help Aurora feel at ease; instead, she feels a knot twisting in her stomach as nerves take hold.

All she can do is take a deep breath, hoping to ease her anxiety a little before she quickly steps out of the car.

Patrick’s warm smile framed his face as he greeted Aurora playfully.

"Good morning, Aurora. Welcome to the Stardust Group..." Patrick paused when he noticed her annoyed expression.

Despite Aurora’s visible annoyance, Patrick pressed on, saying, "I feel honored to greet you this early morning on your first day. I hope you enjoy your internship." His smile grew wider, yet Aurora remained unimpressed with him.

It wasn’t just Aurora who felt slightly uneasy about this reception; Josh thought it, too.

This wasn’t the Patrick he knew. Patrick rarely left his office. He remembered that he had never even come to greet Alex. But now, he was here to greet them.

’Did someone hold a gun to his head to force him to come to greet Aurora?’ Josh wondered, confused; still, he remained silent behind Aurora, trying to suppress his urge to ask.

"Good morning, Mr. Wallace." She chose to address him formally and extended her hand for a handshake. This was the only way to get the absurd Patrick to abandon his foolishness.

Why on earth did he come here to pick her up? She has come to the company as an intern, not as Alex’s wife.

She chuckled inwardly as she observed Patrick’s perplexed expression when he accepted her handshake.

"Patrick!" he insisted, correcting her.

"Only if you stop doing this, Mr. Wallace..." Aurora said softly as she followed him to the elevator. "I’m an intern, not Alex’s wife. Please don’t expose me..." she continued.

Before Patrick could respond, Aurora asked, "Did someone tell you to come here?" She guessed that Alex had forced him to come to this basement.

Patrick chuckled slightly upon hearing her words. "It was obvious?" he wanted to say that, but dismissed it, worried Alex would scold him. He will only accept Aurora’s annoyance.

He didn’t plan this reception, but Alex suddenly called and forced him to come here. Even though he reminded Alex that his wife might be angry and that someone could see them and expose her identity, he still insisted.

With no other choice, he came here after ensuring he could see them later. He also prayed that Aurora would not be angry with him. However, his prayer was in vain because Aurora was upset with him.

"Don’t worry, Aurora. I promise I won’t repeat that next time..." He offered a warm smile to comfort her before shifting his attention to Josh.

Patrick raised an eyebrow. "Wow, Josh, you look handsome in that style," he said casually, trying to shift the conversation and ease the tension in the elevator.

Josh frowned as he met Patrick’s gaze. "Seriously, Patrick, you just realized that? Geez, you’re too late to realize that, everyone who knows me always says I’m handsome. But I appreciate the compliment, regardless."

Patrick gasped in surprise at Josh’s playfulness.

"Hahaha, you’re certainly more playful now. It looks like guarding Aurora has really transformed you; you no longer have an iceberg on your shoulder. This is fantastic for you, man!" he said, giving Josh’s shoulder a friendly pat.

"Yeah, I think so. Guard Boss Alex stresses me out, while guarding Lady Boss relaxes me," Josh replies, feeling relieved as he looks at Aurora, visibly less tense than before. He notices the faint smile gracing her lips.

"True... True..." Patrick said between his loud laughter.

Aurora was speechless, hearing their conversation. But inwardly, she felt better because she felt like herself. This is the kind of conversation they had when they met.

’Going back to this place will be tough; I must prepare myself for my past. Stay strong, Rory!’ she tells herself.

However, as the elevator neared the 57th floor, Aurora recalled something that made her anxious again.

Her worried gaze shifts to Josh, filled with concern. She asked, "I just remember, Josh. Someone might recognize you here as Alex’s bodyguard, right? Do you have a plan to handle that?"

When Josh was ready to respond to her, Patrick interjected, "No need to worry, Aurora. I clear this floor; only my trusted people will work here." He smiled at her.

Aurora was speechless.

She knows nearly fifty people who work with Patrick on his floor. If he relocates all of them, where will they work now? freёwebnoѵel.com

"You mean, you move other staff to another floor? Is that necessary?" Aurora asked, considering where those people work now. She recalled that this building likely didn’t have an empty floor.

"Yeah, they relocated to a different floor," Patrick said helplessly, recalling Alex requesting this when he knew Aurora had an internship in his office.

She frowned at Patrick. "Please tell me Alex didn’t give that instruction, too?" Now, she feels sympathy for Patrick’s staff.

"Oh, please, Aurora, don’t ask me. It’s better to ask your husband..." Patrick laughed before shifting his gaze to the door. He chose not to comment on Alex, wishing to keep Aurora out of it and intending to speak with Alex later—his wife knew everything.

Aurora could only shake her head, say nothing, and put it aside as they finally reached the fifty-seventh floor.

When the elevator door opened, she was no longer surprised to see David waiting for them.

"Aurora, you finally arrive—" David’s voice halted when his eyes spotted Patrick Wallace, the IT Director of Stardust Tech.

All this time, he could only read the news about Patrick Wallace or see him on television. But now, seeing him in person makes his knees weak.

David bows and cheerfully says, "Good morning, Mr. Wallace. It’s an honor to meet you now." He extends a warm, friendly handshake, entirely ignoring Aurora.

Aurora can’t help but smile as she sees David talking to Patrick. She stands beside Josh behind them.
