Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 117: His Concern
Chapter 117: His Concern
Aurora still can’t believe what happened to her.
As Alex held her, the frustration she couldn’t express about his rebirth welled up.
Unbeknownst to her, tears began to form at the corners of her eyes.
But now, after expressing her sadness, she felt embarrassed to cry in his arms.
She struggled to find the right words to explain her emotions as if her speaking ability had abruptly faded. She pulled away from him, lowering her head to conceal her face.
Aurora felt uncertain about how she looked now, but she could assume she must appear miserable.
"Are you feeling better?"
Upon hearing Alex’s calm voice, she nodded.
"Would you like to have dinner now? It’s nearly eight," Alex said again.
However, no words could escape her lips; she merely nodded in response to him.
"Alright, let’s go!" he took her hand and gently pulled her up.
Aurora was shocked but didn’t refuse him; she followed him to the dining room.
Understanding Aurora’s struggle, Alex did not ask her why she suddenly cried.
They ate their dinner mostly silently. The only sound was when Alex occasionally asked her if she wanted something for dessert, and Aurora silently refused his offer by shaking her head.
She has no appetite at the moment. She simply wants to return to her room and calm her mind.
...
Soon after, they completed dinner and went back to the second floor.
However, when they arrived on the second floor, Alex sensed that he couldn’t let her go, noticing how sad she looked.
Alex walked her to her bedroom but didn’t follow her inside immediately.
He paused at the doorway and gently said, "Aurora, I know something happened to you. But I also didn’t want to push you to share what it was because I truly respect your privacy..."
Alex took a moment to let her respond, giving her the space to gather her thoughts.
When he finally saw her expression no longer sad, he smiled at her before continuing.
"However, I can’t remain calm knowing you’re still sad or dealing with whatever is happening. Witnessing your distress makes me anxious. If you need to talk about anything, please let me know... I’m here to listen."
Aurora feels her heart swell when she hears how sincere he is in offering help, but she can’t tell him what happened to her.
"Alex, I truly appreciate your concern. I’m doing okay; I just suddenly remembered my father. For some reason, being in your arms brought all my sadness to the surface... I’m sorry if that confused you."
Hearing her words and seeing her warm smile made Alex feel much calmer. "I’m not confused. I’m just worried something happened to you."
Aurora could only smile in response to his words. She felt bad for not telling him the truth. She couldn’t, even though she wanted to, as God didn’t allow her to reveal His miracle.
Alex leaned casually against the door frame before asking her again, "Why do you suddenly remember your dad?"
Aurora was left speechless. She thought Alex would leave her alone after learning her reason, but it seemed he wanted to keep talking to her.
Silently sighing deeply, she invited him to enter her bedroom instead. "Let’s sit inside to talk. I feel too weak to stand for a long time."
Aurora only made excuses as she suddenly recalled something and needed to discuss it with him.
After they sat on the three-seater sofa, each at one end, she told him about Lorenzo Romano, who had asked her to return to Opal City to sign the document regarding her inheritance.
The lawyer had replied to her message and refused to fly to the capital because he was busy with his work in Opal City, stating he would only have free time next month.
Although she has not yet responded to Lorenzo Romano’s text message, she has planned to fly back to Opal City before starting her internship.
She wrapped up her explanation by saying, "So, I might return to Opal City again in a few days to address that issue. I want to resolve everything there before I begin my internship."
"No, don’t fly there," Alex said thoughtfully.
Aurora felt perplexed by his words. She quickly replied, "Alex, I must sort out those documents before they can change the property name to mine."
A smile graced his lips as he supported his chin with his hand. His soothing eyes looked directly into hers, silently causing Aurora to flutter once more with his charms.
"I understand. Don’t be concerned. I’ll handle everything for you. Just remain here; there’s no need to travel there." His tone was gentle, yet the words conveyed assurance.
Aurora felt she couldn’t refuse him; she could only nod and respond, "I appreciate your help, Alex. But please don’t let it keep you busy..."
"I promised," Alex said. A feeling of joy arose in his heart. Finally, he had reason to help her.
Silence enveloped the room. Neither spoke; both seemed deep in thought.
Although Alex wished to stay longer and chat more with her, he couldn’t find the right way to start the conversation.
He noticed Aurora seemed to have experienced the same. She looked awkward and closed her lips tightly as if she had run out of subjects to discuss.
’Should I leave now?’ Alex pondered, feeling uncertain.
Alex also didn’t want to rush through decisions he had already made; He tried to get to know her gradually to build their relationship.
’Okay, it’s time for you to go, Alex! There will be plenty of time to talk to her again,’ He finally decided to leave.
"Aurora, I..."
"Alex, there..."
They were surprised to speak at the same time.
"Okay, you go ahead," Alex said with a smile, rubbing his neck.
Aurora gestures for him to start, saying, "No, you first."
Now, Alex felt confused. He spoke because he wanted to excuse himself and leave her bedroom since he had nothing more to discuss with her.
But since she also suddenly spoke simultaneously with him, his wish to stay and chat with her longer was up again.
"Ladies first, Aurora. Go ahead, I’m listening," he firmly said, excited to finally stay and chat with her a bit longer.
"Alright, if you insist..." she offered a weak smile.
