Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 111: I Miss Her!
Chapter 111: I Miss Her!
In a sleek black Bentley Mulliner Bacalar, Patrick Wallace cruised along at a moderate speed, enjoying the beautiful scenery as he made his way to Green Hills.
After knowing and working for Alex for so long, Patrick was finally invited to Green Hills for the first time. He was thrilled to finally visit Alex’s home, his most sacred and private place.
Only a few miles away, he felt increasingly nervous.
As Patrick Wallace drove the luxurious fast car, Jimmy Palmer sat beside him and shared the same thrill.
Both were equally excited and thrilled with Alex’s invitation.
Usually, Alex only invited them to his guest villa on the peak, his island, or his other properties scattered in various locations, but not to his private house in Green Hills.
Unable to contain his curiosity, Jimmy looked at Patrick and asked, "What did you do and say that made him agree to invite us to meet his new wife? And even invite us to lunch at Green Hills? Man, I never thought this could happen."
Patrick turned his head to glance at Jimmy, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
"Well, I told him... My charm might sway his wife if he didn’t introduce me to her." Patrick calmly replied before turning to focus again on the street ahead.
"No way! He agreed immediately?" Jimmy found Patrick’s response ridiculous. Alex would never do that. Considering how chubby Patrick is, what appeal does he have? He doesn’t stand a chance with Alex.
Patrick’s laugh echoed in the car, further confusing Jimmy. "Of course not true."
Jimmy laughed quietly; he had anticipated this. How could this guy capture Alex’s wife’s attention?
"Well, man, please understand me; I already know it. You won’t have any chance against Alex."
Patrick shook his head, smiling sourly. He couldn’t refute Jimmy’s words; they were undeniably true. They would never have won if they had competed with Alex when it came to charming women.
"Heck, Jim, can you not say those lightly? You know, it hurts my heart...right?" Patrick said with a weak tone as he pressed the gas pedal harder when the street ahead was clear.
Jimmy remained silent but gently patted his best friend’s shoulder before turning to admire the view outside. He rarely visited the area because the street belonged to the residents, not a public road.
However, not long after, Patrick’s voice broke the silence.
"I told Alex to meet his wife with me so she would not be pressured when she meets us. And surprisingly, he agreed right away."
"What happened to him?" Jimmy inquired, his gray eyes narrowed in confusion over Alex’s strange behavior in recent weeks.
"I know, right? He is such a weirdo!" Patrick chuckled slightly.
"To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time he has formally introduced us to his wife. In the past, he has never done that. Remember?" Jimmy added.
"Yeah, because all his marriages were actually—" Patrick couldn’t continue his words.
He trusted Jimmy but felt it was better not to reveal Alex’s hidden, ethically questionable agenda, which involved marrying all those women, including Aurora Spencer.
Jimmy shook his head, looking at Patrick, who tried to hide something from him. "Man, are you trying to say, ’fake marriage?’"
Patrick was stunned. He hurriedly glanced at Jimmy before focusing again on the street ahead. "You know?" freewēbnoveℓ.com
"Of course, I know! I spend most of my time with him, and I know from Rory..." Jimmy said calmly, but later, his calm turned to instant coldness as he remembered his poor friend.
Silence.
"I miss her!" Patrick murmured, but loud enough for Jimmy to hear.
With a deep sigh, Jimmy shared his thoughts, "Yeah. Such a pitiful soul. She died too soon. When she still hadn’t enjoyed her life..."
Patrick clenched his hands tightly, unsure of what to say. However, his heart felt heavy and cold as he recalled Aurora Moon.
With all his strength, Patrick fought to hide the indescribable feeling that lingered in his heart after losing Aurora. He didn’t want to reveal to Jimmy how he felt now.
However, Jimmy’s following words seemed to sweep away his ability to hold back the strange feeling in his heart.
"Honestly, Patrick...it’s time to let go of Rory; she’s in our past now. You know she viewed you more as a big brother, much like how she saw me and Alex, right?"
"I know, Jim, I know... I just felt a bit down about that day. The day she tragically left us..." Patrick said softly, his voice reflecting his feelings.
"Huh!? There’s a story with you and her?" Jimmy asked.
Jimmy noticed Patrick clutching the steering wheel firmly, eager for him to speak, yet he appeared reluctant to respond, which only heightened his curiosity.
"Patrick! Did you confess to her again before the accident?"
Jimmy grew increasingly anxious about what Patrick would say. What if the incident happened because of him, and now this man blames himself?
"That’s my plan. I invited her to dinner on her birthday, but she declined. She mentioned she already had plans with her best friends."
"I see..." Jimmy felt relieved. He noticed that Patrick didn’t seem to want to continue the conversation again.
Jimmy feels sorry for Patrick, knowing he likes Aurora, but also knows that Aurora never gave him a chance.
...
At Alex’s house,
Aurora had finally finished her investigation report—naturally, much of the information was fabricated.
A gentle knock at the door interrupted her when she wanted to send the file to Joe.
She checked the time and was surprised that it was past noon.
"Aurora, may I enter?"
Hearing Alex’s voice made her immediately stand up and walk to open the door.
She saw Alex standing there. He no longer wore the clothes she had prepared that morning; now, he wore his full dark charcoal suit.
"Apologies, Aurora, for making you wait so long for lunch; it’s nearly one o’clock..."
Seeing Alex’s worried face, Aurora quickly smiled at him to reassure him, "It’s okay, Alex. I’m not hungry yet. And I’m also busy with some work."
"Thank goodness. I’m bringing the doctor to examine your wound before lunch with my friends."
"Hmm, I’m ready..."
Aurora wanted to recover quickly because her internship started in a few days. She didn’t want to show up at Stardust Tech with a bandage on her head.
