Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 106: Uncle Moon, You Remind Me Of My Father
Chapter 106: Uncle Moon, You Remind Me Of My Father
Aurora didn’t understand how she ended up sitting and relaxing in the backyard sunroom, enjoying a view of a beautifully maintained modern garden.
She was not alone in that room; Thomas Moon was with her because Sophia had to go inside to do something.
Meanwhile, Alex had an unplanned meeting with his father and grandfather—an urgent matter prompted them to discuss something important.
After a minute of sitting and enjoying her warm tea, Aurora could no longer resist speaking with Thomas Moon.
Aurora gently placed the teacup on the table before glancing at Thomas, silently arranging the fresh flowers in the room.
"Uncle Moon," Aurora’s voice trembled; it felt strange to call her father that. She wanted to address him as ’father,’ but how could she do that? This man might think she was crazy.
A warm smile broke across her face when he finally turned to her. "Uncle, please sit with me. I feel strange enjoying so many snacks alone."
Thomas Moon’s eyes sparkled with surprise upon hearing Aurora’s words. Still, soon after, he offered a faint smile and approached her.
"Young Madam, I apologize if my presence disturbs you. I will be quiet now. Please take your time to enjoy your tea. Your mother-in-law will return shortly," he said.
Thomas Moon felt remorseful for distracting her. He quickly retreated to a corner, trying to stay quiet.
Aurora silently sighed deeply. She already knew her father would say those words. It was simply impossible for him to join her or sit with her.
But she won’t waste time avoiding him. This is her golden opportunity, as she doesn’t know when she will return to this place again.
"Uncle Moon, could I ask you something?"
Her question surprised Thomas once more. He nodded, "Yes, young Madam."
She thought for a while, searching for the right words to begin the conversation. After a moment, she asked, "I heard from Alex that you have a daughter with the same name as mine."
Aurora hoped her question wouldn’t make her father feel gloomy. She couldn’t bear to see him sad again, just like when she saw him in the hospital.
Shock and tension radiated from Thomas’s eyes, but all that quickly disappeared, replaced by his usual calmness.
"Exactly, young Madam. My daughter shares the name Aurora, too. Sadly, she is no longer with us..." His voice faded slowly as if the words he wished to express were trapped in his throat.
Aurora’s hands clenched tightly on her lap. She tried to adjust her expression to convey her sorrow.
"Uncle, I’m sorry... I’m sorry if my question made you remember her again and become sad," Aurora said softly, worried to see her father looking hurt, his eyes a little red.
Thomas Moon quickly responded with a bright smile, his earlier gloominess melting away.
"No. No, Young Madam, you don’t have to apologize. It happened a few weeks ago. I’m feeling much better now than I was before..."
He took a brief pause to draw in a deep breath, refreshing his lungs before continuing to speak. "I just miss my dear daughter so much."
Aurora was crying inside, but on the surface, she maintained her calmness.
"I miss you, too, Dad! I miss you so much..." She wanted to say that, but none of those words escaped her lips.
Instead, she remarked, "Uncle, you remind me of my late father. He shares a personality similar to yours. He spoiled me just like I can feel you love your daughter, too."
Upon discovering that this young girl’s father had passed away, Thomas Moon felt a heartfelt surprise. "Young Madam, I’m truly sorry for your loss..."
A smile graced her beautiful face as she said, "It’s fine, Uncle. I also used to accept that he left me this soon. It’s better that way rather than his sickness torturing him."
"Oh, forgive me for asking, Young Madam. So your father passed away due to illness?" Thomas Moon asked, curious to hear about her father.
Aurora nodded gently as she recounted her father’s battle with cancer and his eventual death.
After a moment of silence, Aurora finished with, "I actually no longer have a family now, Uncle. My mother also left me... she died years ago. When I was still a toddler."
Thomas felt his heart ache upon hearing that. Gradually, he sensed that this girl shared an experience similar to his. He lost his wife years ago, as well as his daughter. Now, he is alone, with no family, just himself.
He found it difficult to express his feelings to her, yet somehow, he agreed with her. They share a similar fate: they are alone in this world without a close family to accompany them.
However, Thomas immediately dismissed his thought, remembering this girl had her husband. She still has family, while he? No one was beside him.
Nevertheless, he felt joy for this little lady. Although he could not tell her, he would pray that her marriage to Alex would last a lifetime. It would be heartbreaking if Alex were to divorce her, just as he did in the past.
Thomas Moon could easily picture how sad this girl might feel.
They shared a few more stories about their lives, and shortly thereafter, Sophia finally returned.
After that, Aurora didn’t see Thomas Moon anymore. Even when she and Alex left the house, only the Graystone family waved them goodbye.
...
Aurora remained silent all the way to the house. She had lost her energy to initiate a conversation with Alex.
Her effort to pretend to be a wonderful wife for him was burdensome. She felt as if half her life had slipped away. Yet, she still had many months ahead to endure this.
’Stay strong, girl! Things should go well from here on... His family, particularly his mother, appears to like you. That should be enough to get through the rest of the contract, don’t you think!?’ Aurora tried to lift her spirits.
She felt grateful that Alex appeared to have chosen not to speak with her, as he was also lost in his thoughts.
But when Aurora realized that the car was not heading towards the Green Hills but rather to the business district, she was taken aback. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
’Did Alex want me to go to his office?’ she wondered, glancing in his direction.
