Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 105: Spellbound
Chapter 105: Spellbound
"Should I take the offer?" Aurora whispers to herself.
After a minute of careful consideration, she decided to take the offer. She needed money for her plans and felt curious about her target this time.
"Accepted. Proceed as usual." Aurora read the message several times before finally pressing the send button.
She exhaled deeply, feeling like a weight had been removed from her shoulders.
Lost in her thoughts, suddenly Alex’s voice could be heard from behind, "Are you done?"
Startled by Alex’s voice behind her, she quickly brightened her expression with a warm smile as she turned to greet him.
"Mhm. Are we ready to leave now?"
Alex paused for a moment, gazing at her with genuine curiosity. This made Aurora feel a bit awkward, caught in his thoughtful stare.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at him.
"Why do you look so magnificent with your hair styled like that?" Alex wanted to ask, but the words escaped him.
He remained spellbound, gazing at her hair, elegantly styled in a simple bun. She appeared stunning, even though her hair was merely a wig.
Gazing at her smooth, pale neck caused him to pause briefly before finally speaking.
"Let’s go. I’m a bit hungry now," he said, turning back to head toward the door while attempting to keep a straight face.
...
As they entered the dining room, Aurora found the whole family there, including David.
Aurora was at a loss for words upon seeing David still there. She thought he had already returned home last night.
"Alex, Aurora, why are you two up so early? You newlyweds should have more time together..." Andrew Graystone’s words almost caused Aurora to stumble.
She knew the elders always woke up early, and joining them for breakfast at eight in the morning was unforgivable. She said nothing but shyly smiled as she followed Alex to the dining table.
"Aurora, come, sit with me..." Sophia urged, inviting her to take a seat beside her. Aurora followed and settled in front of Alex.
Alex chuckled inwardly as he watched his mother warmly but assertively invite Aurora to sit beside her. He sat beside his grandpa with a calm smile, feeling content in their cozy little gathering. Something he rarely felt.
Seeing his mother and wife together like this, he was somehow surprised by his calmness. A hint of happiness even bloomed in his heart.
This was completely different from the past. Usually, when his mother and any of his ex-wives mingled and seemed happy, he felt frustrated.
He shifted his focus back to his grandpa, surprised to find him still looking intently in his direction, expecting an answer.
Alex replied to his grandfather as he began to enjoy his meal, "Grandpa, my wife is hungry. Also, Aurora and I have to leave right after breakfast. I have something important to handle in my office..."
Andrew Graystone’s joyful expression quickly turned somber. He wanted to spend more time with his granddaughter-in-law, but his grandson was eager to leave.
Feeling displeased with Alex’s answer, Andrew Graystone did not respond to him but turned to look at Aurora with a smile.
"Aurora, why don’t you relax here for a while? Let Alex head to the office on his own. That sounds good to you, right?" Andrew asked eagerly.
When Andrew saw her, she seemed uncertain about how to respond. He continued, "I promise to send you home. Thomas can drive you home..."
Aurora could feel her heart racing at that moment, completely taken aback by Andrew’s sudden offer. She wanted to stay here longer, but not spend time with Andrew Graystone or Alex’s parents; she wanted to be with her father.
She had a lot on her mind that she wanted to chat with her father about, just the two of them. She was curious about how he’s been doing lately since losing his daughter—she really misses him.
Alex’s voice suddenly distracted Aurora before she could respond to Andrew Graystone.
"Grandpa, my wife should come with me. We have some work we must do together in my office." He looked at Aurora, subtly signaling her to finish her breakfast quickly.
"What will you do with your wife in the office?" Matthew Graystone asked in a surprised tone.
Matthew was surprised because he had never heard this from Alex during his previous marriages. He recalled that his son had never wanted to bring any of his ex-wives to his office—he always looked frustrated and annoyed when his family became involved in his business.
While savoring breakfast and hearing their lively chatter, David suddenly adds excitedly, "Wait, wait, Bro Alex, Aurora is doing an internship today, right? How come I didn’t know? Can I join today, too?"
David was excited to begin his internship at Stardust Tech. He wanted to impress his classmates, particularly Max.
Everyone now looks at David in surprise, including Alex.
Alex frowned at David, surprised to see him still in the house. He had thought David had gone home last night.
Instead of answering his question, Alex asks, "Why are you still here? I thought you had left, David."
"Pft..." David almost spat out the sandwich he had just bitten when he heard Alex’s words.
David could only scold Alex in his mind: ’Gosh! How cruel, bro, you haven’t seen me since earlier?’
Swallowing his sandwich quickly, he cheerfully answered, "I still miss Aunt Sophia... that’s why I decided to stay here." He smiled at Alex and Aurora, who were watching him with frowns.
Clearly, Alex and Aurora didn’t believe David’s foolish reason.
David chuckled nervously, scratching his head despite it not being itchy. He attempted to convince them of his awkward excuse, hoping they would take him seriously. "I’m serious, bro..."
However, David’s wish crumbled instantly as Sophia spoke.
"David, earlier, you mentioned that your parents left without you because you asked them to. Is that true?" Sophia’s question struck David like lightning.
’Gosh, auntie, can you not reveal it?’ David sighed deeply. He’s still eager to hear more from Aurora. He’s curious about her new role as a wife for someone like Alexander Graystone.
