Chapter 231: No News!
"Abigail Snow!!"
"Stop calling my name like that. I’m no longer your daughter. I’ve cut ties with you," Abigail shouted.
"Don’t speak nonsense. You will always be my daughter as long as you carry the Snow name," Adam Snow laughed. However, his laughter faded when he heard her following words.
"Mr. Adam Snow, I’m sorry to say this, but I’ve changed my last name. I no longer carry yours. Please stop calling me with your last name."
Hearing Abigail’s words, Adam Snow was stunned. He froze momentarily, cursed Abigail in his heart, and replied, "Then come here and beg me if you want to see your grandmother again. My people have already brought her to this city!"
"Do whatever you want!" She snapped.
Beep!
Abigail laughed as she saw her phone screen go dark. "What a foolish man. How could he not know Grandma had already left the nursing home? He’s just wasting his money paying foolish gangsters."

In Adam Snow’s house,
The sound of glass shattering on the floor echoed from a distance, shocking Betty and Vanessa in the living room.
"Dad??"
"Husband..."
They rushed to Adam’s study, curious to find out what had made him furious enough to throw something on the floor.
Before Betty and Vanessa could reach the study, Adam Snow’s angry voice echoed in the room. "What an ungrateful daughter you are, Abigail! How dare you change your last name? That’s impossible. You wouldn’t dare to do that. How could you have the courage? You just lied to me to make me angry, right!?"
Adam continued to vent his frustration, pacing the room while making phone calls. However, after numerous attempts, no one answered.
His steps halted as his bloodshot eyes fixed sharply on his cell phone.
"What the hell is everyone doing? Why isn’t anyone picking up my calls? Did they succeed or not?"
He couldn’t believe it; no one had updated him about their kidnap plan. He had given them clear instructions a few hours ago, and it was almost dark outside, and there was still no news.
"Husband? What happened?" Betty’s voice pulled Adam from his confusion. He tore his gaze away from his cell phone to look at her.
"Dad, is everything alright? Did Sister Abigail call you?" Vanessa asked, noticing her father’s furious expression. She could tell he was upset, likely because of Abigail, who had a knack for infuriating him.
Ignoring both of them, Adam Snow walked to the seating area. He settled on the couch, looking at Vanessa silently, countless questions racing through his mind.
"D-Daddy? Why? Why are you looking at me like that?" Vanessa stammered, her voice trembling as she sat opposite him. His sharp gaze felt piercing, and she quickly glanced at her mother, seeking help before nervously returning her focus to her father.
After a few tense moments of contemplation, Adam Snow finally spoke, "Have you heard that Abigail has a wealthy friend with a powerful background?"
Both Vanessa and Betty were taken aback by Adam’s sudden question. They exchanged confused glances, unsure why he had brought it up.
"What do you mean, Adam?" Betty asked, trying to understand.
Adam Snow ignored his wife, keeping his intense gaze fixed on his daughter. "Do you know or not?" he asked again, noticing Vanessa hadn’t responded.
"Wealthy friends? That’s impossible. She has no friends because she spent her entire teenage years with Ryland." Vanessa feels a sharp pain in her heart at the thought that Ryland is still thinking about Abigail, even after their breakup.
Vanessa has always been jealous of Abigail and resented her because Ryland constantly compares them whenever they fight.
"I’m sure she has rich and powerful friends besides Ryland. And I came to that conclusion because, lately, she has changed; she is not afraid to challenge me. In the past, when she needed money to support her sick grandmother, she would ask me for money..." Adam explained.
"Yes, you are right, Adam! That silly girl will call you and beg." Betty also admits it.
"I know, but earlier, she even refused to inherit her mother’s land. This is very different from the Abigail we know. The Abigail I know would call me for help whenever she needed money."
"What? Abigail refused the land?" Betty’s eyes widened in shock.
"What the hell? Abigail didn’t want that land?" Vanessa added, unable to hold back her disbelief.
"And she also said that she changed her name. She no longer uses Snow as her last name..." Adam Snow’s voice trembled. He never imagined Abigail could have the courage to do that unless someone had urged her to.
"Oh my God!" Betty gasped, horror flashing in her eyes. "Why would she go that far?"
Vanessa was utterly stunned. It made sense now; no wonder they couldn’t find her—she had changed her name. "Dad, I’m confused. How could she change her last name without your permission? Is she allowed to do that?"
"Yes, she can. Because she’s an adult," Adam Snow replied, his shoulders slumping sadly. Disappointment and annoyance mingled with sorrow in his heart, making him feel deeply troubled.
"Did that foolish Abigail forget that she can’t live without her father?" Betty’s hands were clenched tightly, filled with frustration toward Abigail. How could she change her name? Did she not realize that her father’s blood still flowed in her veins, even after changing her last name?
Seeing her husband’s terrible expression, Betty took a deep breath and asked, "Adam, what about your plan to bring her grandmother here?"
Betty hoped her plan would succeed in bringing Abigail back to this place. She wanted to teach that stubborn kid a lesson.
Adam shook his head slowly, his eyes a sign of annoyance. "No news! They didn’t pick up my call!"
"Dad, is it possible they were busy on their way here? That’s why they didn’t have time to answer the phone?" Vanessa chimed in.
"Yes, Vanessa is right. Maybe they are just busy. Let’s wait; I’m sure they’ll have good news soon," Betty tried to calm her husband down.
