Chapter 230: Please Don’t Pretend to Be My Father

Abigail sighed deeply, shaking her head as she looked at the closed door. Her grandpa’s expression earlier had left her speechless. He looked like someone who was about to consume his wedding night.

’Geez, he really can’t wait, huh? Wait... why does Grandpa look just like...?’ She lightly shook her head, dismissing Sawyer’s sultry expression from her mind as she began to feel the atmosphere in the house was uncomfortable.

She cleared her throat and murmured, "Gosh, why does he look so impatient? Did he forget that my grandma is still unwell?"

"Little wife, don’t mind them. They are both old enough to figure out how to express their longing after so many years apart..." Sawyer chuckled, observing his wife’s sulky expression.

"But—" Abigail started to protest, but Sawyer interrupted her.

"Alright, my wife. We also need to rest upstairs. Don’t forget we are newlyweds and need to express our love, too, right?" His teasing smile made her heart race.

She said nothing but stifled a smile as he leaned closer, gently scooped her up, and carried her in his arms.

"You... Someone might see us," she protested softly.

"This is our house. No one will complain!" Sawyer replied, kissing her forehead as he walked toward the stairs.

However, just before Sawyer could climb the stairs, Vincent suddenly appeared to stop him. Abigail shyly hid her blushing face in Sawyer’s neck, tightening her arms around him as she tried to avoid Vincent’s gaze.

Vincent cleared his throat and said, "Boss, we need to discuss something."

Sawyer was displeased when Vincent interrupted him just as he was about to share an intimate moment with his wife.

"Not now, Vincent! I need to cuddle with my wife before she is sleepy!" Sawyer’s casual words made Abigail blush even more.

Abigail remained silent but scolded him in her mind, ’Geez! Why does he talk like that to Vincent? How embarrassing!’

Vincent felt guilty but knew the matter they were handling now couldn’t wait. He silently gritted his teeth and explained, "Boss, this is about the people at the Nursing House—"

Instantly, Sawyer’s expression changed.

"Sawyer, you can go!" Abigail looked him in the eyes. She understood that this matter was about her father. "I won’t sleep. I will wait for you in the room, awake..." she smiled to reassure him.

Abigail knew she couldn’t distract him now and needed to handle something upstairs.

When Abigail entered their bedroom, she searched for her cell phone and found it on the study desk in the corner.

After unblocking Adam Snow’s phone number, she stood by the glass window that overlooked the beach in the distance for a few moments, waiting for the old text messages to fill her inbox.

Abigail didn’t bother reading through her father’s numerous frustrating texts. Instead, she settled onto the couch and dialed his number. After only two rings, the call connected.

"My lord, Abigail Snow, you finally called your father..." Adam Snow’s cold voice came through the line. "I thought you had forgotten that you even had a father. Where have you been? Why did you block my number?"

Hearing her father’s sarcastic sentence, Abigail almost laughed. She held herself back from saying anything, as she didn’t want to waste time talking to him.

Ignoring his questions, Abigail replied by questioning him back, "What do you want from me? Just tell me directly; I don’t have time for small talk!"

"Abigail Snow! You are so rude. How could you speak to your father like that?" Adam’s annoyance grew, but he suppressed anger, worried that Abigail would block him again. He genuinely wanted to communicate with her.

"If all you want to do is scold me, I’ll end the call!" Abigail replied nonchalantly.

"Please don’t, my daughter..." Adam responded hurriedly. "Abigail, you need money to pay your grandma’s medical bills. Your mother inherited land, and I was hoping you could come and sign the papers so we can claim it. You can sell the land if you need the money."

Abigail couldn’t help but laugh inwardly as she listened to her father’s gentleness, a stark contrast to his usual self.

She was already aware that this was a trap. Sawyer had informed her that Adam Snow had sold her mother’s land to his cousins a few months ago. However, changing the name to the new owner was stalled because they required her signature. That’s why he desperately needed her to return to Sunset Bay City.

Abigail pretended to be innocent, feigning a lack of understanding about the situation. "Oh, about the land? I don’t need it. You can sell it or keep it if you want."

"What? Did you need a lot of money to cover your grandma’s medical and nursing home fees? Why would you refuse the land?"

Hearing Adam Snow’s shocked tone from the other end, Abigail smiled. She had been waiting for this moment to teach this shameless man a lesson.

She took a deep breath, allowing the silence to linger before replying, "I do need money. But I don’t want to take any from you."

"Daughter, it seems you misunderstood. That’s your mother’s land, not mine."

"I know. But even though the land is in my mother’s name, you bought it for her. I’m worried that your new wife might get upset with me... So it’s better if I don’t accept anything from you." Abigail replied casually.

Adam Snow was shocked and furious upon hearing her refusal.

"Damn it, Abigail! Why are you being so stubborn?" he shouted, unable to restrain himself any longer. "I’m sure you’ve heard what I asked your grandmother..."

Abigail tightly gripped her cell phone, trying to contain her anger. She remained silent, waiting for him to continue.

"If you don’t return home to meet me now, don’t blame me if I kidnap your grandmother, Abigail!" Adam Snow threatened.

"Why did you involve my grandma? She has nothing to do with this. Stop using her to get what you want, Adam Snow!"

"Abigail, I’m your father. How can you call me that?" Adam Snow asked, clearly annoyed.

"Father!? Where were you when I needed your help? You were never there for me. Please don’t pretend to be my father now. You never cared about me; you only cared for your new wife and her daughter..."
