Chapter 601: An accident

"Where is my wife?" Sebastian walked into the hall as soon as he ended his meeting and overviewed the reports from Lucas and Ambrose.

It was a hectic meeting, and he wanted nothing more than to embrace his woman to release some stress. The human rogues were making a movement again and he needed to go and look at things himself tonight, thus, he wanted to ensure his wife was at home and safe before he left.

"Do I need to repeat my question?" Sebastian asked as he raised his gaze from his file.

The maid standing in the corner of the room, stepped forward.

"I am not sure about anything, sir, but Princess Elliana left the royal palace an hour ago. I wanted to ask her if she would like to eat the cake, but she didn’t look like she wanted to talk to someone. Her eyes showed anger," The maid said, trying to be as respectful and mindful of her words as she could be.

Usually, it was Miss Zoya’s job to report to the King, but she had to leave the palace because her daughter suddenly fell sick.

"She was angry?" Sebastian wondered, his finger pausing on the screen of his phone before he remembered King Eros’s words about talking to her about something.

Could it be something that King Eros said to her that made her so angry?

"Where is King Eros? When did he leave?" Sebastian asked the same maid, not looking at her though as he was busy looking at the graphs.

"Sir, Princess Elliana walked out of the room within a minute after she went inside to talk to her father. King Eros wasn’t seen in the room or anywhere afterward," The maid reported.

Sebastian closed his eyes and unlocked his mental barrier to take the help of his mark and locate where his wife was. However, before he could concentrate, his phone vibrated in his hand and he opened his eyes.

Seeing the number on the screen, Sebastian paused in his actions and a sigh escaped his mouth once again.

It was a call from the leader of the A-6 team that was appointed near the caves to keep a lookout for any witches who might come to help Azrael. He was asked to report every single thing or change that might look peculiar to him.

It wasn’t hard for Sebastian to put two and two together and he picked the call.

"How long was she there for and what did she do?" Sebastian asked, surprising the leader who was about to report to his boss that Princess Elliana made her presence known.

The leader stood there, unsure of what to say for a few seconds.

Did their King already know about Princess Elliana’s arrival? If yes, then why didn’t he give her the keys she was asking for? Or could it be that she came despite him saying no?

"Are you going to say anything or do I need to deploy another team for this purpose?" Sebastian asked, his cold voice making the leader snap out of his thoughts and clear his throat immediately.

He took a deep breath and told Sebastian everything that happened.

Since they were afraid that Princess Elliana would really become angry and might end up getting angry at their King too, they didn’t follow her inside the cave to see what she was doing or talking to the witch, but he told Sebastian every other single detail.

"So you didn’t give her the key but she didn’t say anything?" Sebastian asked, finding it a bit weird.

"Yes, sir," The guards said and Sebastian hummed.

"Since she has already left, go inside the cave and check for every single detail around the cave. Ensure that nothing is left. Your princess is someone who gets emotional easily and sometimes ends up sympathizing with people who want to kill her too. She might’ve even told Azrael a way to run away because she is having nightmares which are enough to move your princess.

We can’t let that happen.

Azrael shouldn’t be able to run away from this place. If something like that happens, I will ensure that you guys don’t see the end of it, and it’s a promise," Sebastian said.

The leader immediately nodded before looking at his guards, who rushed inside the cave to do what they were told.

"Is there something else worth noticing and reporting?" Sebastian asked.

"Yes, sir. We don’t know what kind of people they are, but we seldom hear the crippling of leaves and someone moving in the woods. Sometimes it feels like it is a group of many people, but sometimes it appears there is only one person there. We have tried to go and look into what it might be, but we haven’t been able to find anything worth reporting," the leader said and Sebastian hummed.

The chances could be that the witches are trying to make a move on his team, but seeing how they are always there and the witches’ powers cease to work within the 200m area of the caves, they are not able to do anything.

"Don’t leave your post even for a second no matter what happens. If something urgent comes, call a backup team immediately. Also, from now onwards, eight vampires should guard inside the caves too. The witch’s crying can be harmful to their ears. Take preventive measures," Sebastian said before he ended the call.

He looked at the door, patiently waiting for his wife to appear.

"Sir, we are getting late," Lucas reminded him and Sebastian took a dejected breath.

He wanted to know what was troubling her so she ended up going to Azrael. There was no doubt that it was related to what her father must’ve said to her.

He nodded at Lucas.

"Let’s go. I will talk to her once we are back. If we lose this Intel in the human rogues, we don’t know if we will get this opportunity again," Sebastian said to Lucas, who nodded back before looking at Ambrose, who immediately rushed out to start the car.

Sebastian looked at the maid before speaking, "Ensure she eats something tasty and healthy once returns. Don’t provoke her if her mood is not alright. I will handle things when I am back."

He left the Black Skull palace shortly.

"Let’s go," Sebastian said to Lucas and soon the car started.

"Sir, there is something I need to tell you," Ambrose said and Sebastian raised his gaze from his phone.

"Hmm?" Sebastian asked vaguely, his mind subconsciously going back to his wife again and again.

Elliana was the kind of girl who was too selfless. Not to mention, her habit of hiding her pain and sadness was unnerving. Why? Because he didn’t want her to be in pain and suffer alone. If they were happy, they were happy together, and just like that, if she was sad, he wanted her to share her sadness with him.

"The elder Princess contacted me a few hours ago to ask about your whereabouts. It was originally about Prince Stephano’s birthday celebration that was postponed but then it turned to the rogue attacks. She told me she has been trying to reach you but couldn’t and wanted to help a little in any way she could," Ambrose said, his words making Sebastian raise his brows.

Scarlet wanted to help him.

What was that supposed to mean? Though Scarlet wasn’t his enemy or against his crowning even before, she wasn’t someone who supported him either. To her, he was all about marrying that girl with him and nothing more. And she definitely never showed any involvement in politics either.

Thus, hearing like this was surely surprising for him.

"What else did she say? Did she mention anything worth catching?" Sebastian asked, wanting Ambrose to remember her tone and exact words. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"Nothing particularly, sir. She just said that she wanted to be of help to the family and the royal Kingdom if she stayed in the royal palace. She was obliged to do so," Ambrose said.

Sebastian hummed vaguely.

He will have to talk to his so-called elder sister who never participated in this stuff himself. That way he will be able to catch what is going on inside her head.

After finding Angelo’s betrayal, it was getting hard for him to trust any of his siblings apart from Stephano and Vincenzo.

Honestly, he trusted all of them.

Even though they were against him, they would never do anything to hurt the kingdom and their family, but Angelo’s betrayal changed his perspective greatly and he didn’t want to make any mistakes. Not when he wasn’t the only one at the receiving end of the danger, it was about his wife this time.

Sebastian sighed.

"Next time she calls you, if you are around me, give the call to me," Sebastian said.

"Okay, sir," Ambrose said, looking at the rearview mirror briefly.

"Ambrose!" Lucas shouted when he saw a blur of something appearing right in front of their car.

Thud!

The car made a sharp turn before hitting the nearest tree at a high speed, making everyone’s body jerk forward.

Elliana, who was about to enter the royal palace, felt a deep pang in her heart and her brows furrowed.

Mr. Marino? Why did it feel like something was wrong with him? She gulped, rushing inside hesitantly.
