Chapter 54: Club Adventures (2)

Although Arren was thinking about it, he wasn’t ready to reveal anything to Spade yet. Perhaps sometime in the future, but for now, he would just let it be. Who cares if he becomes suspicious? It wasn’t like Spade would arrest him for that, right?

The alpha didn’t ask or respond after that. Arren slightly drew away from the embrace, and as his eyes glanced at the dance floor, he froze and squinted his eyes to observe further.

"What is it?" Spade inquired as the alpha noticed him becoming fixated on the dancefloor; he also shifted his gaze in that direction before returning to Arren.

Arren blinked and then faced Spade; his mind was slightly processing what he saw—or, more accurately, who he saw. He wasn’t even sure if the person he saw was the right one. It was dark, yes. However, he recognized who it was the moment the dancing lights landed for a few seconds on that person. It was Rave Amos!

The hell? What was he doing here? Arren couldn’t recall any scenes in the novel in which Rave went to a club; it was always Levin. He was always in the palace or with the upper nobility. What was happening?

However, considering this was the real world, perhaps it could make sense. The novel never had to give all the details about the protagonist. Arren was still surprised, however. What could he possibly do in this place?

"Arren... " Spade’s voice became deeper this time, with a slightly alert tone. Arren finally woke up from his thoughts.

He bit his lips and contemplated whether to tell Spade whom he had just seen.

"Uhm... I just saw someone," he said, still hesitating whether, to tell the truth. Arren didn’t want to get involved in anything about Rave’s business but was also curious about its significance to their investigation.

If this were still a novel, a protagonist in one place could only mean trouble.

"Who?" Spade simply asked, but his tone was anything but simple; even his expression became wary.

Arren was aware of why the alpha became like this, other than the fact that he didn’t hide his surprise earlier, Arren also became caught up with his thoughts so Spade really noticed something was wrong.

He really needed to practice hiding his expressions sometimes now that he had a perceptive boyfriend. Meeting the alpha’s eyes, Arren could only sigh. He knew that lying was not a good idea, he was a terrible liar and Spade was a keen observer. Damn, such a match made in heaven!

"Uhm, I saw... someone." Arren began, letting the conversation in circles.

The alpha nodded seriously, waiting for him to continue. That was when he knew, his method wouldn’t work. Arren sighed.

"I think... I saw a royal attendant earlier. The one with white hair."

Fortunately, Arren remembered that he wasn’t supposed to know Rave’s name yet, and he didn’t blurt out the name. Or else another suspicious point. He was best at prolonging the result of an event, anyway. Even though he knew they would eventually come at that point.

"White hair?" Spade frowned then shifted his gaze back to the dance floor, recognizing immediately who Arren was talking about.

"He’s not there anymore, it’s dark so I didn’t see where he went," Arren informed Spade. Then proceeded with another sentence, "but, it isn’t like it’s forbidden for royal attendants to go out, right?" he tried to reason out. Spade was always suspicious of Rave and he didn’t want to aggravate it at this time. Who knows what the omega was doing in this club?

"It isn’t... but Rave Amos is not an ordinary attendant," Spade respond looking directly into Arren’s eyes before he continued, "he is a suspected spy or he is an important witness, we need to keep an eye on him specifically." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

Spade’s tone was too serious that Arren couldn’t respond immediately. However, before he could, a voice sounded in his ears. Arren only remembered that he was wearing an earpiece in his left ear, they both stilled and listen to the voice without breaking their eye contact.

"Your Majesty, the target had been locked on. A person that perfectly matches the description of the suspect has entered the club." the person on the other side paused for a few moments then it rang once again, "What is the next order, Your Majesty?"

Arren’s gaze was fixated on Spade’s face, he could perfectly witness the alpha’s expression. The way a dangerous yet calm look had now appeared in his eyes that replaced his gentle gaze. It was a little frightening but Arren, he could only say that... his alpha was too hot!

However, flirting was inappropriate in this kind of situation. Arren needed to be serious. The cockroach had come. Suddenly, anticipation surged inside of him. It was paired with nervousness because of something dangerous that might happen but also excitement about what would happen as well.

An emotion flicked in Spade’s amber eyes before he turned on his mic to tell his command. He slightly pulled Arren to him more in further security.

"Standby, make sure the periphery is stable. Don’t let them have an escape route." Spade ordered, and the authority in his voice made Arren’s ears tingle.

He could hear his natural voice in front of him; however, as he also had an earpiece, he could also listen to his order closer to his ears. His voice was so fucking good that he almost forgot that they were in an important situation and it could be dangerous any minute now.

"Copy that." answered the voice, which Arren could finally recognize. It was Levin.

This time, the bubble popped out for him. What was this situation—a possible encounter with the three of them in one room? Rave, Levin, and Spade... all in the same fucking room.

There was no time for Arren to think deeply, as Spade now focused on him again.

"Remember our promise?" Spade whispered to him.

Arren nodded almost immediately. Of course, he knew that there was no way Spade would let him be a part of the dangerous action.

"Good," the alpha said, satisfied with Arren’s answer. Things could escalate further at any moment; even Spade had no idea of the results. This was extremely sensitive, and they needed to be careful.

And if Arren were also here, Spade could never be solely focused on capturing Curt without also making sure that his omega was safe. Which even Arren was aware of.

In the first place, Arren truly desired to only lead Spade to locations in the plot that he was familiar with and provide information. He didn’t want to become a burden to the alpha. So, he was extremely obedient on this part.

"Let’s get you in the car," Spade said after a while. Arren didn’t refuse this time. Arren could safely leave the scene now that his primary goal had been accomplished and rely on Spade to capture Curt.

However, it seemed that fate wasn’t allowing Arren to quietly exit this early, as the situation had already escalated without their signal when it came to their opponent.

As they were on the way to leave, a gunshot rang out in the whole place; it was even louder than the music and distinct as well. It only took a moment before chaos ensued; the dancefloor and even the whole club became a mess. The people inside fled as another round of gunfire rang out, terrifying everyone and forcing them to flee for their lives.

As a result, Spade and Arren, who were still in the middle of it and far away at the entrance, got caught in the stampede. Spade couldn’t even react fast enough with the sudden turn of events, especially Arren, as he was forcefully pulled away from Spade by the panicking people.

Spade still tried to catch Arren’s hand, but it was futile as he also became dragged by the people in front. It became even more chaotic as the people on the second floor also came out and ran. It was dark, and curses continuously resounded.

People were trampled on and fought to become first, in this dangerous situation, people could only think of saving their lives first.

Arren groaned as someone stepped on his foot; it was painful because it came from a woman’s heels! He cursed as he desperately tried to get away from the overflowing people.

Despite his aching foot, he still managed to get into the corner, then hissed from the pain. Killer heels can be lethal at times. After a few moments of checking his foot, Arren raised his head. It was dark, and he couldn’t see Spade anymore.

Perhaps he had been dragged to the exit as well. A stampede of terrified people was not a joke at all. He flinched as another round of gunshots rang out from the second floor. He raised his gaze and looked at it. Damn, how could Arren forget Curt’s extreme sense of danger?

For sure, that fucker smelled something wrong and truly lived up to his name. Damn him, this fucking cockroach!

Arren leaned on a wall, and without looking at his right foot, he knew it had begun to swell now. He couldn’t even feel it anymore; he had no idea about its condition from inside his shoes.

And as he glanced to the side, it so happened that someone he knew would cross where he was, and he immediately grabbed that person’s arm. The person stopped and immediately looked at him. As their eyes met, Arren smiled.

"Hello there, can you help me get out?" Arren playfully requested, the omega’s brow immediately furrowing, then staring at him, the white hairs sticking out slightly from his hat. Rave Amos... Arren’s phoenix eyes squinted, observing the omega.
