Chapter 53: Club Adventures

The sound of the loud music reverberated, as did the dancing lights that slightly illuminated the dark surroundings, the people dancing on the dancefloor, and the smell of alcohol and any other familiar smells.

It had been a month since Arren got the opportunity to visit a place like this again; he slightly took a breath, and gradually a smile appeared on his lips. He had really missed this, and just as he was about to take another sip from his glass, a deep voice rang beside his ears, the hot breath tingling him.

"You’re enjoying yourself too much, hm?" Arren froze and glanced at the one who spoke, instantly meeting the alpha’s amber eyes. And in no time, the alpha snaked his arms around Arren’s waist and pulled him closer, pressing their bodies even more together.

Arren now remembered that he was with Spade this time, as he had been too carried away earlier. He became slightly flustered and chuckled bashfully.

"Well, is that too obvious?" Arren shrugged off, slightly turned away from the alpha, and then sipped from his glass.

"Be honest. Is this your motive for suggesting we investigate this place? You’re too comfortable." Spade continued on the subject and attempted to deduce Arren’s intentions, despite the fact that he didn’t appear serious and only teased the other.

"What do you mean? I’m really here to investigate... of course, enjoying my time in the middle of a mission is not forbidden, right?" Arren, as if offended, returned his gaze to the alpha and argued immediately.

They stared at each other before Spade glanced at the cocktail glass in Arren’s hand. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

"That will be the last one," he said, or more like an order, a tone that Arren often heard from the alpha in the past few days after they became together. It wasn’t a tone that was too strict but with a hint of affection, although it all sounded the same for Arren.

He pouted, "But this is only my first glass."

Spade nodded and said, "I can see that. So, it is your first and last glass."

He pursed his lips and stared at the alpha with a pitiful look, trying to use his charms, but it was futile. It seemed that in things like this, Spade really was adamant that he couldn’t break it.

In the end, Arren relented. He could push it, but he thought having a lover who was concerned about his health was also a good thing. He wasn’t that addicted to alcohol, anyway.

Still, instead of drinking his drink all the way, he only took a few sips so it would give the impression that it could last long enough.

They only stayed there in the corner of the club, pressed together and silent. He also liked this kind of atmosphere between them, just being together and a comfortable silence.

"Do you want to dance?" Arren broke the silence between them, although the music still overpowered most of his voice.

Spade looked at him and arched his brow. "What do you think?" he asked in a stern voice.

This response made Arren laugh that he needed to lean on the alpha, or he might have already collapsed on the floor, and Spade readily accepted his weight.

He knew there was no way in hell Spade would dance in the club, and he couldn’t even imagine it because of how ridiculous it was. He was only teasing Spade, but his reaction really made him laugh.

"Laugh enough?" Spade gently stroked his back as if he had been choking earlier, which wasn’t far from what had happened.

Arren nodded. Then, with a few laughs, he put his whole weight behind the alpha. "I think so, but I like it." He smiled, which reached her eyes, and because of it, a ghost of a smile also appeared on the alpha’s lips.

As if enchanted, Arren reached out and touched Spade’s cheeks; his hat slightly hid the alpha’s appearance. Both of them wore hats to mostly conceal their identities, especially Spade.

"What? Are you drunk, already?" Spade asked as he gently touched Arren’s hand that was in front of his face.

Arren shook his head; he wasn’t drunk. He only drank one glass, which wasn’t enough to make him drunk.

"I’m not, but... I just want to touch my boyfriend’s face; is that not allowed?" He whispered, although it was he who became flustered first after he said it and realized what he had just said.

Damn, Spade Remmington was his lover. He didn’t imagine shits; it was real.

With what he said, the corner of Spade’s lips curled. "It’s okay, you can touch my face all you want."

Arren stared at him, then his face heated up, and he hid his face in the alpha’s chest. The low chuckle of amusement that came from Spade rang in his ears before he was engulfed in a warm embrace.

"Do you want to go home now?" After a few moments, Spade’s voice again sounded beside his ears.

He shook his head and drew back slightly to face Spade.

"No, it’s still early. And... we are here on a mission. You won’t back out of our promise, right?"

Despite the dim light and the hat that covered most of the upper half of his face, Arren could still make out the alpha’s appearance from the shadows.

"I know, but we’re not sure if he’ll be here," Spade said, wrapping his arms around Arren’s waist.

"Still, we can still wait a little. And... I want to be like this longer." Arren affectionately said as his eyes brightened up.

He really wanted to stay in that position because they barely saw each other, and sometimes only for a few hours before Spade returned to the palace.

It seemed they were in some kind of affair; they were still in their honeymoon stage, and he often missed the alpha, so having to turn a mission into a date like this was enough for him.

"All right, we’ll stay this way for a while," Spade sighed, something flashing in his eyes before smiling.

Then they hugged once more.

"How did you know this place?" Spade inquired after a while. Even though he didn’t use an interrogative tone, Arren was taken aback.

He couldn’t respond for a moment, but his brain was already in full force to make some random excuses to answer Spade’s question. Arren couldn’t possibly claim that he knew it from the novel and that there would be a chasing scene in this location at some point in the plot.

"Uhm, I searched for it... Anything can be found on the internet nowadays." Arren dumbly answers the question; he painfully shuts his eyes. He knew his answer was questionable, but he only needed to stick to it. He didn’t know how to respond, though Arren knew Spade would eventually ask him about it.

In fact, from the moment he thought of interfering with the plot, Arren had already started preparing himself for the possibility that he would still come off as suspicious, and the alpha would notice it too.

However, that was the only solution he could think of aside from directly giving him the information out of nowhere. He might as well lead Spade to the places he knew were important to the plot.

"Hmm... even illegal clubs can also be found on the internet too?" Spade casually responded with a question, and Arren almost cursed. Having a boyfriend who was too smart was not always a good thing.

"Of course, and this club is only semi-illegal. It is still generally legal." Arren subconsciously answered, which he regretted soon afterward since he was now digging deeper for his own grave by talking too much.

"Uhuh? How did you know that? Have you been to these places before? Without looking at Spade, he knew the alpha had already narrowed his eyes. Fortunately, they were not facing each other.

"I-I didn’t! I told you. I just looked it up. "Right. Since Ashton will most likely visit this type of sketchy place, I marked them all down, that’s all." Fuck, can he shut up and not answer almost instantly?

This was making him crazy; he only wanted to help!

Arren was the one who suggested this place since he knew this would be one of the places where Curt was most sighted in the novel. Although the chasing scene that he knew would happen in this place was still in February, he still wanted to try his luck, and perhaps they could capture Curt earlier this time around.

Of course, he wasn’t sure that Curt would really be here.

He accidentally barged into Spade’s meeting with someone, and they were discussing investigating some clubs, and he inserted himself out of nowhere. As he was also involved and Spade promised him to be part of the investigation, the alpha reluctantly let him enter the discussion.

Then, as a result, here they are. Although, if he could think about it, Arren wasn’t really a good liar. Perhaps he could reveal to Spade what he knew? Being secretive and going roundabout ways was such a headache; Arren didn’t sign up for this.
