Chapter 228: Wins and Losses (1)

The first battle against the organization was happening outside of the capital, but you could still feel the tension all the way here. As Levin observed outside as they passed by the places where it was usually crowded, he immediately noticed that there were fewer people outside.

Some were only those employees or students who were in a rush to go home, but the establishments were all forced to close early. This became apparent as they passed by the usually busy metro where most shopping malls and restaurants were located, which was crowded until midnight but had now become almost like a ghost town.

They easily passed through without any of the usual traffic. Levin sighed, as he knew things would get worse from here on.

One thing that helped them in the empty crowd was that they could move much easier and monitor the place from the traces of his parents. Yet, even with that, he knew it would still be hard to look for them, as his father most definitely had the means to erase their trails, or he might also confuse Levin and the forces looking for him.

"Plaza Hotel, a report came from Plaza Hotel." A report sounded in his ears.

Levin was immediately pulled out of his thoughts as his mind focused, and he wore a serious expression.

"Go to the Plaza Hotel," he instructed the driver before he responded to the report. "Give me further details."

"Yes, Chief. An employee of the hotel reported how a few suspicious people checked in, ordering inexplicable demands while not giving proper documents."

Levin’s brow lifted, as he frowned. No, it seemed like a dead give-away if it was indeed his parents. His father wouldn’t make a mistake like that, and he deliberately made his location obvious. As the capital was on high alert from Spade’s statement and the fight that was happening on the domains, the citizens would definitely report suspicious people that they came across.

Sure enough, as they were on their way to the Plaza Hotel, another report came in.

"Chief, some reports also came from another hotel."

And that report soon multiplied from various locations in the capital; most of them were big hotels, while some were smaller establishments. What was infuriating was that the reports were all basically the same but from different employees, and if Levin didn’t know better, all of them teamed up on pranking them.

They parked just outside of the Plaza Hotel, but Levin didn’t get off; the crease in between his brows deepened as he frowned heavily. It was tricky. From how the situation was going, he had an idea of what his father wanted to do.

Aside from confusing them, he wanted to wear them down and split their forces while also probably hiding in one of these hotels in the guise of a similar report, or he might also be somewhere else in the places that weren’t reported.

How could he be sure that the agents were all in play? They could be both the employees who reported and the ones being reported. They were primarily devoted cannon fodder for the organization, just like those at the Moonlight Festival, who were suicide agents.

Levin shifted his gaze outside, where the Plaza Hotel and its name reflected in his eyes. Should he split their forces and choose to fall into their trap or check the places that weren’t in the reported places?

"Monitor the routes of the reported hotels and observe what was happening outside of these establishments," he ordered the monitoring departments as they all forcefully gained control of the security cameras in the capital at this moment.

He wouldn’t rush to instruct the royal guards to visit these places without knowing if there was indeed a trap waiting for them there. Levin kept silent as he stared at the Plaza Hotel outside. He also needed to keep the civilians in mind if there was a battle waiting for them.

Just what is your plan, Father? Levin couldn’t help but ask himself inside.

After a while, he spoke again: "Connect me to His Majesty."

This was bigger than they anticipated, and Levin still had to ask for Spade’s opinion on the matter. This was a decision he couldn’t just casually make.

He waited for a while, and Spade’s voice rang in his ears. Levin didn’t need to elaborate on the situation, as the alpha was already aware of it and spoke without pausing.

"It’s your call. I gave you this mission, and you shall decide on what you are supposed to do." Spade nonchalantly said it before he finished with something that made Levin pause. "Trust your intuition."

The call was short; no, it couldn’t even be called a conversation as Spade was the only one who said something and immediately hung up after, as though giving all the autonomy to Levin on this mission.

Trust my intuition? Levin couldn’t understand at first. Each time, he has already grown to the point where they need to be more logical in their decisions, especially to missions as important as this. Intuition might be a good factor to survive in the battlefield but it was as if you had only given your life to fate.

Would you get lucky after trusting your intuition? Levin never believed in things like luck and was more inclined to observe and plan ahead.

And now, His Majesty just told him he needed to believe in his intuition when deciding what to do. Was it reasonable to depend on a crucial mission that could implicate civilians?

Levin pondered for a while. There was urgency now rushing through him, but he needed to calm down so he could have a clear mind to make a decision.

He exhaled a heavy breath, leaning on his seat, and rubbed his throbbing temples. It was already apparent that it was his parents he was following, and now he was witnessing his cunning father play at him with his hands.

A mocking smirk, curving in the corner of his lips, and breathed after looking at the hotel outside. He needed to trust his intuition. Then, he would. But before that, he opened his mouth and made an order through his earpiece.

"Send some agents and incognito guards at the reported hotels and observe first. If you can, secure the suspected organization agents, but they are not the priority." As they were only suicide agents, Levin wouldn’t sacrifice civilians at these hotels if their forces fought.

Cannon fodders such as those were not worth it, as even after a successful capture, they didn’t know a thing about the organization, as though already brainwashed just to be suicide agents from the start.

If they were captured or killed, it was better. But if they escaped, they couldn’t raise a lot of waves and could be cleared later on.

His eyes then narrowed, and he swallowed a mouthful of saliva as he spoke. "Barricade the entrance and exit in the capital now. I’ll come at the west national road." Levin even made a series of orders, in case his guess of the West was wrong and his father went the other way.

All of the reports were a diversion, and his father would probably be on his way to escape the capital once they took the bait and split their forces. If he could still recognize his father, although he probably never did, Levin still had some understanding of his father at least.

Perhaps, this was why His Majesty told him to trust his intuition, and he was given the mission to track his parents as he was after all their child. And it was not even about intuition but more of his own understanding of what his father would do.

The West National Road was the route his father usually took if he wanted to visit the Ford Domain, a region of mountains and tunnels. Before, he always questioned why his father loved to drive by land if he could just travel there with their private plane, which was more convenient and a shorter trip than on land.

However, as he thought of it now and tried to make sense of this habit of his father for years, he took note of the geographical location of the empire.

The western part of the empire where the lush greens and mountains were located, was also connected to its neighboring country which was always thought part of the empire but had its own autonomy.

If he thought about it now, wasn’t the Ford Doamin also the closer one on the borders, which are only separated by a mountain range? No one would be suspicious before, but if it were indeed the case, was his father, whom he thought was always in their domain, already outside of the empire or might be in his headquarters?

His intuition might be incorrect, and a battle may break out in one of the hotels, but as Spade said, Levin would trust his intuition this time.

After ordering the driver, their convoy immediately drove in the direction he instructed. At the same time, the forces that were alerted by his order began to prepare themselves. Those assigned to observe the hotels were already on their way.

While the exits and the forces beginning to arrive had already been barricaded while also creating a few checkpoints along the way. Some were also in position for a possible battle that might happen.

The civilians could notice it, and fear began to spread. The drivers and their families began to complain, which also gave them a hard time. Shouts and panicked cries made the checkpoint area such a mess.

It was the same in establishments across the capital after a post trended that suspicious people were all also planning to make a terrorist attack, and the crowd was even more hurried to go home.

In every part of the capital, chaos is also slowly spreading in no time.
