Chapter 638: Home will always be home

Thankfully, the conversation shifted back to the adventure I had inside the ruin. Hearing me using unconventional methods like a hidden tunnel and such seemed to fascinate them. Natha was frowning at first, but he soon fell to the nostalgia--after all, he used to be roaming around ruins himself.

Hey--even Shwa’s seed came from the ruin!

Also, they praised me when I told them about how we proceeded by avoiding traps and sending back the beasts, making it seem like we were never there. The twins were especially happy about the fake relic I put there, laughing and clapping their hands so much I could finally see how they were twins.

"Malta, free up my schedule," Natha said at the end of breakfast.

"I already did so once I heard Young Master had arrived."

I gasped and clapped my hands. It wasn’t even working hours yet, and she already worked hard. "As expected of our big sister!"

Mata graciously made a curtsy, and I could see her subtle smile. Lesta, however, was not impressed.

"Why are you clapping for her, Young Master?" he pursed his lips. "You should be cheering me on because I’m going to be the one suffering."

I chuckled and patted his shoulder while pouring in a rejuvenation spell. Well, I couldn’t help feeling guilty because I was the one who asked Natha to take a day off all of a sudden. "I’ll give you a boost, Lesta."

"Do you want cocoa jelly, Lesta?" Jade also came with a small plate of cocoa jelly he got as a reward from Natha.

Wow, so generous. As I thought, Lesta was his favorite.

Lesta laughed and ruffled the green head. "Thank you, Jade."

Jade didn’t stop there, however. He turned to the other side and pointed at a certain vampire who was in the middle of talking with Natha. "Eruru, be good to Lesta!"

"I’m always good to him," the vampire narrowed his eyes, confused as to why he had suddenly received a warning from a little boy.

"Papa said Eruru always make Lesta tired."

"Ahem..."

Eruha looked at me incredulously, but my fluster only persisted for one second. Lesta was nodding along and stroking his chin, so I just shrugged while Arta was laughing her ass off--wasn’t sure about the ’Eruru’ part or that her twin was getting sucked and railed to exhaustion. She only stopped after Malta smacked the back of her head.

Eruha cleared his throat and defended himself. "That’s His Lordship’s doing."

No, no--that wasn’t exactly the type of exhaustion we were talking about.

"I’m doing it because Valen asked me to not work," Natha scoffed, using me as a scapegoat even though he was having fun about giving his subordinate a hard time.

Eruha arched his brow. "That’s rare."

I grinned and Jade chimed in. "Yes, Natha can’t help it," the little boy had been very quick-witted today. "That’s why Eruru can’t make Lesta more tired!"

Oh~ good job!

"Wow...I was suddenly treated like a bad guy?" Eruha shook his head exasperatedly, and another burst of laughter erupted in the dining room.

Looking around at the boisterous breakfast table, a smile came to my lips automatically. While I also had breakfast with my travel companions in the Human Realm, the feeling was slightly different. Perhaps it was how people who lived in the dorm felt when they came back home. No matter how lively and noisy the dorm was, home had an indescribable warmth that one always sought.

It was truly a privilege; perhaps a reward I had after losing my home in the previous life. I was blessed with this many family members, which made me giggle in relief. As I looked at my son, I felt glad that he would have a lot of people taking care of him growing up. I wished I could provide this kind of warmth continuously to him in the future.

Ah...how peaceful

* * *

"Get ready with Shwa!!"

Exactly two hours later, my strangely punctual son woke up from his post-breakfast nap as always. Unlike usual, however, he refused to be held by anyone but me--not even Natha and Angwi. Maybe because I hadn’t been home for a week, Shwa would cry if he lost sight of me.

Oh...it would just become harder when I leave again, wouldn’t it?

Well, I was already planning to spend my whole day with him anyway. With the nannies’ help, I washed my baby and clothed him in an outfit that Jade personally chose for him. Today was a deep green that matched the spring foliage.

Thankfully, Shwa was calm as long as he could see me, so I could just put him in the portable bassinet and bring him to the dressing room while I was changing. We all decided to match our color with Shwa, so truly looked like we were going on a family outing.

Wait. We were indeed a family going for an outing!

The realization made me giggle. Jade giggled just because he felt my happiness, and Shwa giggled because we all did. Natha was only smiling, but I could see from his eyes that he was extremely happy.

"Natha, can we take Shiny here?" Jade asked as we crossed the garden to reach the portal. Since I had to carry Shwa, Jade was in Natha’s arms.

"The mole? Do you want to adopt it?"

Jade nodded while making a sad face. "Shiny have no home anymore because humans kept coming..."

"Then we should give Shiny shelter," Natha replied swiftly.

Probably because of the human threat.

"Yay!" Jade raised his arms happily. "Shiny can sleep with Jade! Or Ignis! Because Shiny eat stone!"

Actually, Shiny preffered cooked food now, but the mole could also survive on rocks, interestingly enough. Jade kept the sale pitch high by explaining how Shiny could create gems by eating rock--very fitting for the Lord of Greed.

But talking about that reminded me that there was something I have yet to confirm with Natha. I shifted closer to him and nudged his side with my elbow. "The matter about the mine...you’re okay with it, right?"

"You’re the one who found it, sweetheart. You can do whatever you want with it," he smiled and stroked my head in response.

Yeah, I knew he’d say that. Still, I asked again. "But you don’t mind, do you?"

"No," he chuckled at my persistence. "I think you did splendidly."

The small worry that persisted in my heart melted away. "Hehe..."

I knew he would let me do whatever I wanted to do as long as it did not put me in danger, but it was far nicer knowing he agreed and supported my decision--not just ’okay’ about it. Greedy, right? But what can I do? I was the Consort of Greed.

"So, only one remains?"

"Yeah," I looked down and smiled at the baby who had been holding my finger tightly. Just one more bead to find the Goddess to back me up for custody of my own son. "But we don’t have any clue about it."

"Well, you’ve already spread a lot of net, so something should come up."

I looked at him and smiled wryly. "It should, right?"

"Uuu...aaa..."

I gasped and looked down, rubbing the tiny parted lips. "Do you think so, baby? You think so?"

"Jade think so!"

I couldn’t help but laugh as Jade jumped in Natha’s hand while raising his arms high. At the same time, Shwa jerked his arm too, as if following his older brother. Ahh--I had such cute sons! I laughed and blew raspberries on Shwa’s stomach, prompting a silent laugh from the baby.

"Alright," I took a deep breath and placed Shwa inside the portable bassinet in Angwi’s hand. To make sure he didn’t cry, however, I would be the one carrying the bassinet. "Are you ready, Shwa?"

"Uu?"

I winked at him before glancing at my little boy. "Say it, Jade."

As if he had been waiting for a long time, Jade let out a shout that I was sure could be heard by the whole garden--perhaps even those across the lake. "Let’s gooo~!"

Natha rolled his eyes from the direct assault on his ears, so I ended up crossing the portal while laughing. When I stepped into the other side, I just realized that Angwi was holding me from behind in case I was tripping.

Geez--even if I tripped, I’d make sure to keep the bassinet stable.

But anyway, we arrived safely on the other side, and I immediately checked on Shwa. He was blinking dazedly, staring into the air as if tracing the flow of mana from the portal. Fortunately, nothing was wrong with him, and after being probed here and there, he got upset and pulled on my hair, demanding to be held instead of put inside a velvet box.

"Ouch--okay, okay..." I laughed and pulled him out of the bassinet--and looked at him immediately smiling widely.

I felt like everyone in my little family was born to be clingy.

After calming the boy, we went straight to the elevator instead of the bedroom or the living room, all the way to the ground level. I had to remind myself not to run because I might trip, but Jade had jumped off Natha’s arms and ran out of the Tower, jumping happily at the place we hadn’t visited in a long time.

I couldn’t blame him; I wanted to run too. Hurrying my steps into the field of blue grass, my lips stretched wide automatically. As I turned around where I could see the Tower and garden along with the pond, the smile turned into laughter.

"Tadaaa!" I held Shwa’s chest and showed him the nostalgic sight of my first home. "This will be your home in the future, Shwa!"
