The Demon Lord's Bride (BL)-Chapter 639: We don’t need blood ties to be a family
Chapter 639: We don’t need blood ties to be a family
I realized this after my baby was a month old--he developed faster than other babies.
It wasn’t bragging, and I only based it on the babies I saw in the hospital--which...was probably not a good comparison considering most of them had some conditions--but the nannies said so.
He was supposed to be a month old, but he was big enough to look like a three-month. The way he moved his arms and kicking with his legs was smooth, more than a jerking motion. I was joking about him talking soon, but the sound he made was considered advanced by normal standards--whether it was human’s, demon’s, or druid’s standards.
Rubha jokingly said it was because of her breastmilk...which might be true, who knows? But what fascinated me the most was how focused Shwa was. I heard babies couldn’t see well in their early days, and at most, could only focus on people’s faces in front of them. They couldn’t see far yet--was what I caught.
But Shwa could sense my mana the moment he was born, and his clear eyes seemed to absorb everything around him--even something considerably far away. He was also perceptive of his environment and already understood what was said around him. Well, probably not in precise, but I had a feeling he could read people’s moods.
So smart and lovely, my son.
Ah, now I was just bragging.
There was an explanation for it though--one that did not involve breastmilk.
No matter how much I wanted Shwa to grow up as a normal boy, we couldn’t deny that his conception was a unique case. The way his body formed was different, and his soul was already complete. His soul had already been developed and reached its peak maturity, only with blank memory and sealed ability.
D’Ara said that some of the mundane abilities might unlocked with time, so that was probably why. Things like motoric skills and advanced comprehension probably came from this.
In conclusion, Shwa was like someone playing a new game plus without any memory. If you get it, you get it.
That was why I took the time to show him around the Lair. I knew Shwa could see the Tower and the estate, creating new memories in his soul. Natha also carefully held him so he could see the scenery clearer while Jade acted as an energetic tour guide.
"Look Shwa! Jade and Papa and Zia--do you remember Zia?--usually have picnic beneath that tree! Jade also roll around in the grass--it’s fun!"
"Over there is Vrida’s house! But we have to walk through forest and climb and climb first. Shwa remember Vrida? Vrida pretty and kind, so don’t be scared!"
"River fun too, but Shwa too small now! Shwa can’t swim yet, so Natha will say danger!"
"There! There! Natha make house for fish after we return from elf. You see that bird? That bird is Jade! Right? Right?"
"Yes, it is."
"We have party here, Shwa! Papa and Natha use pretty clothes! Jade too! And everyone come! We have lots of yummy food and jelly and Jade dance around with Papa!"
Jade continued to recall the memory of the wedding as we reached the pond in front of the garden. It had been a while since I came here, but both the pond and garden were as immaculate as ever. As expected of Doun. We truly chose a good day to come here because the flowers were almost fully bloomed and it was like a festival.
Oh...
I blinked and turned toward Natha, who smiled gently as he looked at the garden. To be exact, to our wedding venue.
Right. It was our first anniversary soon.
I held the hem of his clothes and muttered. "I’ll make sure to return on that day," I whispered. "Do you want to...spend it just the two of us?"
He raised his brow and turned toward me, tilting his head slightly as he digested what I was saying. "Do you want to?" he glanced at the baby in his arms. "I don’t mind having it with our sons. It’ll be our first anniversary with a family."
That sounded nice too, but...
"The wedding anniversary is our day."
Natha blinked and for a few seconds, I could see his stunned face. His lips trembled slightly before he turned his face away while taking a deep, stuttered breath. He looked up and exhaled while patting our confused son, as if trying to remind himself that he couldn’t pounce me in front of our sons. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
I couldn’t help but laugh, standing on my toe to plant a kiss on his cheek before running to Jade, who started getting annoyed because we did not pay attention to his tour.
"Shwa, Papa is so mischievous..." I heard Natha whisper to our baby and laughed again.
At that moment, there was only our little family in my head; nothing about the deities and the mission I had to go through. For that small moment, there was only sunshine and rainbow.
But talking about rainbow...
"Bunnies!"
Oh, right. The elemental rabbits were moving to the garden. Doun said their presence helped the plants growing well because of their mana. That being said...
"They’re multiplying!"
I gasped as dozens of rainbow fluff swarmed toward me. I was sure there were less than ten before!
"Well, it is spring," Natha chuckled.
Oh, that was why some of them were smaller than the others. Wait--did they use our garden as a mating ground?! I gasped again before seeing Doun come with two bunnies in his arms.
"Oh, Young Master? His Lordship too..."
"Jade here too!"
"Of course, Young Master Jade is here too," Doun laughed while releasing the bunny on the ground. "What nice timing; I was moving the little rabbits from the forest over here."
Ah. Apparently, they were still mating in the forest, and Doun was moving the little ones to the garden because the mana of the flowers and shrubs was gentler than the old trees in the place where I found them.
"Waa..."
"Yes, they are pretty," Natha nodded, smiling gently at Shwa. "Wait until you can sit without support, okay? I’ll let you play with them."
"Aaah!"
It was nice, wasn’t it, being able to sense your child’s thoughts? I knew that at a moment like that, Natha could forget all of the misery he experienced because of that trait of him.
"Oh, the Little Master is here," Doun clapped his hands. "Are you showing him around the Lair?"
"Yes!" Jade was the one who replied, doing so while climbing Doun’s back. "Because this is our home!"
"That’s true," I nodded and turned around to look at the Tower. "We’ll be living here once Natha retires from the Lord’s seat."
Unless we ended up having to run away to a secluded place, but let’s not think about that today.
"Then, I shall keep the place nice and tidy until that time," Doun said with a crips laugh. Wow...was he saying he would keep working here until that time?
Natha was good at picking up the loyal ones if anything. Just like Grandpa, I guessed.
Jade welcomed the notion happily while piggybacking Doun. He asked the gardened to bring him to the pound and they fed the fish together. While Jade was playing with the little rainbow bunnies afterward, the twin guards came over after hearing that we were there.
No, no--not to greet Natha, but to see the ’Little Master’. There was something endearing about menacing-looking demons gushing out about how adorable my baby was. Be it them or Caba...I wondered if Natha had a certain taste regarding guard recruitment.
And so, I had fun playing with rainbow bunnies while watching three scary demons standing around my one-month-old son. Quite a fascinating scenery.
"Angwi, what do you think about having our luncheon here? The weather is good and Shwa seems to be having fun out here."
Angwi smiled and nodded. She still didn’t talk aside from singing my son a lullaby at night, but I was glad she didn’t look as stiff as before. Her posture was still as proper as always, but her gait was more relaxed. She no longer gave a vibe as if she wanted to destroy the world one day.
That was a relief. I didn’t want this world to get destroyed too.
"Oh, can you tell Neel to come down here? I want to talk to her about something," I paused in contemplation for a bit before adding. "You too."
Angwi tilted her head curiously, but she nodded again before walking back to the Tower to prepare our lunch. Mm...it had also been a while since I tasted her cooking, so I was rather excited.
Unlike Neel, who came down with messy hair and dead-looking eyes. Was she on a deadline or something?
"What do..."
She paused when she looked at Shwa, staring at the baby without blinking for half a minute. She blinked once and, after another ten seconds of silence, opened her mouth.
"Did I unknowingly hibernate or something?" he looked at me incredulously. "Why does it seem like I skip a few months?"
"Waa!"
Ahahaha! It seemed like Shwa liked it when people pointed out how well he had grown. As expected of Jade’s little brother.
