Chapter 779: Chapter 779: The Little Girl Trying Hard to Woo the Second Young Master

Knowing that Brandon Piers was at Benjamin Jones’s place, Abigail felt somewhat relieved. She turned her head to Hughes. "Let’s go to Benjamin Jones’s law firm."

Pullan was shocked. "Madam!"

"Such a big thing has happened. I wouldn’t feel at ease even if I went back now. Let’s just consider it as picking up Mr. Joshua and bringing him home." Abigail found Pullan’s reaction both funny and exasperating. At a time like this, he still had the energy to worry about such things.

As soon as Hughes turned the car around, he suddenly stopped. Abigail frowned. "What’s wrong?"

"Abigail, we’ve run into trouble." Hughes’s eyebrows tightened as he stared at the car in front of them. One hand was on the steering wheel while the other was quickly tapping on a mini keyboard.

Abigail’s face turned serious after hearing this. "Do you know who they are?"

She didn’t mention reporters because she knew if they were reporters, Hughes would not be this serious.

"It should be Mr. Joshua’s people." After sending a message, Hughes quickly figured out the situation on the other side, noticing that one of the faces resembled Joshua Piers’s assistant. After saying this, he added, "Abigail, we could possibly get out of here by force, but the casualties would be significant."

After analyzing the opponent’s situation, Hughes quickly used data to analyze their combat capability.

Abigail trusted Hughes’s judgment. She glanced at the surrounding situation. The other side had obviously prepared for this, choosing a location that was a certain distance from Moon Lake Manor with no reporters following them. Part of their men had been sent to divert the reporters, and the rest had emerged from the shadows, now in a standoff with Joshua’s people.

Seeing the two cars behind her, Abigail realized Brandon had hidden so many people behind her. Thinking about it, Abigail felt the situation might not necessarily require force to resolve. She cautiously spoke to Hughes, "Ask them what their intentions are."

Hughes nodded and was about to communicate with the other side when a car door suddenly opened, and a girl around eight or nine years old stepped out.

Abigail saw through the car window and was slightly startled. Then, a man who looked like a secretary walked out from behind the little girl. The man hesitated but still walked towards their car.

Pullan watched the other side warily and turned to ask Abigail for instructions. "Madam, what do we do now?"

"I’ll get out and take a look." Abigail recognized the little girl as Dora.

"Madam, please be careful." Pullan became anxious. Nowadays, deceiving people by using children to gain sympathy was common. And Joshua was as cunning as a wolf. They couldn’t easily trust them.

Abigail looked at Hughes.

Hughes’s mini computer was operating rapidly, then he shook his head towards Abigail. "These two are not a problem."

Abigail nodded and opened the car door. The little girl just happened to walk up to her car and was delighted to see her step out. "Pretty sister, I’m Dora, I’m Dora. Do you remember me?"

"Yes, of course, I remember." Abigail squatted slightly, smiling as she spoke.

The little girl was even happier upon hearing her response. "Pretty sister, I was so obedient. The doctor said I recovered very well. My uncle said I should thank you."

"Auntie is very happy to have helped you." Abigail watched the well-behaved little girl and reached out to rub her small head.

Feeling the affection, Dora became even happier. "Pretty sister, today is my birthday. Could you come to my house as a guest? Every year, I celebrate my birthday alone. I want to invite some children, but my uncle doesn’t allow it..."

The little girl’s eyes reddened, tears welling up in her eyes. "Actually, I know it’s not my uncle’s fault. It’s just that no children want to attend my birthday party. They all dislike me, say I don’t have parents and call me a wild child. They also say I’m sick and will spread it."

The eight or nine-year-old girl stood only about 1.3 meters tall, shorter than kids her age, small and skinny. Yet, she had a beautiful face, with big, black, sparkling eyes filled with tears, making her look exceptionally pure and innocent. She spoke while trying hard to hold back her tears, easily softening people’s hearts.

It was as if the little girl was not speaking about her own life but Abigail’s own past experiences.

Abigail reached out to wipe the girl’s tears, then looked up at Joshua’s assistant behind her. "Where is Mr. Joshua?"

"Mr. Joshua is at Rose Valley preparing a birthday party for Miss Dorothy. We invite Miss Green to join us." The assistant sincerely invited Abigail.

Abigail glanced at the stalemated groups of people. "Do I have a choice not to go?"

"Miss Green, don’t worry. As soon as Miss Dorothy’s birthday party ends, we will immediately send you back." The assistant tried hard to maintain a smile as he explained.

"Alright, let’s go. I’ll take Dora in my car." At this point, did Abigail have any more options to refuse? Plus, Joshua’s carefulness in choosing Rose Valley to put her at ease signaled his good intentions. If she refused, who knew what he would do next?

"This..."

"I want to ride in the pretty sister’s car." The assistant tried to say something, but Dora had already agreed, hugging Abigail’s arm.

Joshua’s assistant could only comply. "Sorry for the inconvenience, Miss Green."

"It’s no trouble at all." Abigail said, then led the little girl into the car.

In the car, Dora sat next to Abigail, her face beaming with unconcealed joy, which even made Pullan and Hughes, who were tense in the front seats, relax a bit.

However, due to previous experiences of failing to protect Abigail and getting her kidnapped, Pullan remained somewhat worried despite the little girl’s presence. "Madam, should I inform Brandon about the situation?"

Though he was asking, Pullan’s hand had already started messaging Brandon.

Abigail nodded. "Yes, tell him to come and pick me up later."

The people in the car were careful not to make the conversation too explicit, so as not to upset the little girl.

But the mention of Mr. Brandon still piqued the girl’s curiosity. She looked up at Abigail. "Pretty sister, who is Mr. Brandon? Is he the man with bandages on his face who was with you last time? Are you two in a relationship?"

Abigail was taken aback. Man with bandages on his face?

For a moment, Abigail was puzzled by the term, then remembered Brandon was injured when the little girl saw him last time, his face covered with bandages. The term made Abigail both want to laugh and cry, especially since it suddenly made Brandon appear a generation older.

"Yes, we are a couple." Abigail understood that the man with bandages on his face was Brandon. Nodding with a suppressed smile, she confirmed.

Unexpectedly, the little girl’s beautiful face immediately fell upon hearing this.

Abigail was puzzled. "I and the man with bandages on his face are a couple. You’re not happy, Dora?"

"Yes, because if you’re a couple with him, you can’t be my aunt." The little girl said with immense disappointment and then, with some unwillingness, added, "A pretty sister like you should have a boyfriend like my uncle—tall, handsome, and wealthy. The man with bandages on his face isn’t good-looking and doesn’t deserve you."

Abigail was stunned. Was this little girl trying to dig Brandon’s corner for Joshua?

The expressions of the two in the front seats were equally strange. Little girl, you must have a big heart to critique like this. But thinking about Mr. Brandon’s appearance when he was injured...

Man with bandages on his face? Tsk tsk, what an image!
