Reborn as Mr.CEO's Fat Wife-Chapter 780: So do you want to consider changing a man?
Chapter 780: Chapter 780: So do you want to consider changing a man?
The car had not yet reached Rose Valley when Abigail received a call from Brandon Piers.
"Why are you so disobedient?" The man on the other end was very dissatisfied as soon as she picked up.
Abigail laughed. She had anticipated this reaction. "I’m just accompanying Dora for her birthday. There won’t be any danger. I’ll wait for you to pick me up after you’re done with Benjamin."
With Dora by her side, Abigail didn’t say much.
Brandon was very unhappy, but Pullan had thoroughly reported the situation to him. Though unwilling, he knew what was happening. Since things were already decided, he didn’t say much more.
After hanging up Brandon’s call, the car slowly entered Rose Valley.
Hughes clearly knew the direction of Joshua Piers’s villa, and they arrived quickly.
Dora held Abigail’s hand as they got out of the car. Her little face was full of joy, evidently looking forward to her birthday.
Abigail glanced at the little girl, couldn’t help but rub her head, then followed her into the villa. Hughes and Pullan followed closely behind, and Joshua’s assistant wisely didn’t obstruct them.
Inside the villa, the living room was already decorated. The servants, seeing Dora bringing in a guest, respectfully inquired about their preferences, but Joshua was nowhere to be seen.
Abigail was about to ask Dora when she saw the little girl gazing at the flower and balloon-filled living room, which had "Happy Birthday, Dora" written on it. Her eyes were full of joy. Abigail couldn’t help but smile slightly. She held back from asking further, not wanting to disturb the little girl’s happiness. Instead, Dora pulled her arm, "Sister, it’s so beautiful. I’ve never had such a birthday."
"Are you happy?" Abigail asked with a smile.
The little girl nodded vigorously, "Happy, so happy."
Then she rushed under the balloons to play, holding onto them as if they were the most precious things.
Clearly a rich lady, yet she resembled an orphanage child who had never had anything. Abigail’s heart softened. She stood aside, quietly watching the little girl play. At this moment, a servant approached her quietly, "Miss Green, Mr. Joshua invites you upstairs."
Abigail was slightly stunned, instinctively looked up at the second floor and then nodded, "Okay."
After speaking, Abigail turned to Hughes and Pullan, "You two stay here with Dora. I’ll go up for a moment."
"Yes." Pullan, having entered the lion’s den, was calmer now.
Hughes, in the short time they had been there, had already quickly breached the villa’s security system. Knowing that there were no others upstairs besides Joshua, he nodded to Pullan.
Abigail understood and followed the servant upstairs.
The servant led her to a corner and then respectfully said to Abigail, "Mr. Joshua is inside, Miss Green, please."
Abigail listened and knocked on the door, but it automatically opened. She slightly frowned and walked in.
The layout of the villa was similar to hers, but Joshua had clearly renovated the second floor. Two rooms were opened up in the middle, and as soon as the door opened, she saw two large floor-to-ceiling windows. Joshua was sitting on a high stool by the window, focused on painting the hazy sky outside.
Abigail didn’t disturb him and looked around the private studio with interest. When she was young, her grandfather had sent her to the Youth Palace to learn painting for a while. She drew moderately well, with no great talent but not too stupid either, so she understood a bit about painting. From the painting Joshua had previously given her, she could see he had exceptional talent.
Looking at the various finished and unfinished works around her, she judged that the man was not only talented but also deeply passionate about painting.
No amount of talent can endure laziness, while passion is the fiercest catalyst for diligence.
Especially in art, only with enough passion can one persist.
But Abigail was a little confused. Why would someone so obsessed with painting get involved in the Piers, and as she knew, he had joined the Croft Family in Europe and was now working for them.
The Croft Family was not clean. Their underground business spanned Europe, and they had been expanding into Asia in recent years.
Brandon was cautious of Joshua this time, not because of Joshua himself but because of the Croft Family behind him.
As Abigail pondered this, the sun outside set below the horizon, and the entire studio suddenly dimmed. The man by the window, under the faint light, looked like a silhouette, seeming lonely and desolate.
Abigail frowned again. Just as she was about to speak, Joshua put away his brush and turned on the studio light.
The white fluorescent light abruptly lit up, breaking the momentary strange atmosphere.
"Miss Green, hello."
Joshua’s unique voice echoed in the large studio, pulling Abigail back to reality. She nodded toward him, "I don’t know what Mr. Joshua wants from me."
"Have you had a chance to ask if you like that painting?" Joshua didn’t directly answer Abigail’s question, instead asking about the painting he had given her before.
Abigail nodded. It was excellent. Although she had reservations about Joshua as a person, she admired his painting. "Yes, I like it."
"That was my first time painting a person. I like it very much too." Joshua seemed to recall something, his deep eyes showing a light Abigail couldn’t understand. She remembered her impression of Joshua the first time they met, always feeling his eyes were like a snake’s, lazy when idle, but turning cold and sharp when seeing prey, just like now.
But it lasted only a moment. Joshua quickly retracted his extremely aggressive gaze. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Abigail composed herself and looked around the studio as Joshua spoke. Indeed, there were no portraits in his studio. Her guess was gradually confirmed. "What do you want to say, Mr. Joshua?"
"Brandon Piers was dismissed from his position as Piers’s CEO today. You should know, right?" Joshua knew Brandon’s personality wouldn’t give him much time, so he didn’t beat around the bush with Abigail.
"So what?" Abigail retorted. Brandon’s dismissal was trending on social media today. Of course, she knew, but she didn’t know what this person wanted to say.
"So, do you want to consider changing your man?" Joshua asked, standing and walking toward Abigail. His handsome face wasn’t as impressive as Brandon’s but still outstanding. His slanted eyes had an enticing curve as he leaned close, his low voice carrying a hint of seduction.
The aura around the man was intense. As the new CEO of Piers, any other woman might have felt their heart race, but unfortunately, the person standing opposite him was Abigail.
Just that morning, she had been overwhelmed by Brandon’s charm, so a man like Joshua, though distinguished yet slightly inferior to Brandon, didn’t interest her much. She took a step back, "Sorry, Mr. Joshua. I don’t plan on changing my man for now."
"Oh, for now? I don’t mind waiting." Joshua’s slanted eyes slightly lifted.
After he spoke, the studio door was suddenly pushed open.
