Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 96: I Will Take Care of Everything
Chapter 96: I Will Take Care of Everything
"David? Who is David?" Andrew Graystone asked, curious to hear the conversation between his daughter-in-law and Aurora.
"Father, David is my younger brother’s son..." Sophia answered excitedly. She is looking forward to meeting David and talking with him about Aurora.
"I remember him..." Andrew Graystone nodded and smiled at Aurora. "It’s wonderful that you can adapt and mingle so quickly with this family, especially since, besides knowing Alex, there’s also David, your friend."
"Yes, you can meet him later tonight in the hall. Perhaps he has arrived with the others," Matthew added.
Hearing his father and wife talk about the girl amazed Matthew as he learned more about her. His dream of having grandchildren soon is no longer just a dream; it will quickly become a reality. They would have one pretty soon, and this thought excited him.
Aurora was shocked to know that David had also come to this party. She felt uncertain about her response. Though she was not particularly eager to meet David, she couldn’t express her feelings. Instead, she took another deep breath before weakly nodding and smiling at them.
When Andrew Graystone and the others shifted their conversation to a different topic, no longer discussing her, Aurora became lost in her thoughts.
However, Alex’s whisper in her ear suddenly lifted her dim mood once more. "I will ensure David doesn’t meet you tonight," he assured.
Aurora turned to him, a slight frown creasing her forehead.
"Alex, I don’t mind if David knows about us, but not tonight, if possible. If I meet him now, he might trigger my headache again!" she whispered, ensuring only Alex heard her words.
Alex lowers his gaze, looking at their entangled hands, with a barely noticeable smile on his lips. He knows this is only an act, but holding her hand makes him comfortable.
"Don’t worry about him. He won’t cause trouble for you," he promised, looking her in the eyes.
Aurora’s heart races as Alex softly squeezes her hand. She holds her breath; his calm blue gaze locks her eyes. For a brief moment, they gaze into each other’s eyes in silence as Aurora unexpectedly loses her voice.
After some time, she finally said, "And how are you going to do that?"
She was curious about his plan. Gazing into his eyes, she could see the fiery glint within them. Whatever his plan was, it likely wouldn’t end well, and she started to feel pity for David.
A hint of mystery danced on Alex’s lips before he said nonchalantly, "You’ll see..."
"Alex, Aurora..." Andrew Graystone interrupted. He continued, and Alex noticed, "You’ll stay here tonight. I asked Thomas to clean your room..." His eyes were fixed on his grandson.
Aurora’s face went pale in an instant. Sleeping in this place was the last thing on her mind, especially since her head was still injured. She needed to change the bandage.
She quickly turned to Alex, her eyes reflecting a gentle refusal. It relieved her when she noticed his unhappy expression because that would mean they shared the same thought.
"Grandpa, I want to stay and sleep here, but not today. We didn’t prepare anything for an overnight stay..." Alex gently replied, giving Aurora’s hand another reassuring squeeze as if encouraging her to feel at ease.
Andrew Graystone’s expression suddenly darkened as he turned to look at Aurora.
"Oh dear, my granddaughter-in-law, can you and Alex stay here? Just a little longer? It’s so special that this is his first time bringing his chosen wife, and I’d love to celebrate this moment with you both for a while longer," Andrew pleaded.
Aurora was shocked. She had never seen him beg like this in all her years knowing Andrew Graystone. And here he was, the same old man, pleading to her.
As she gazed into his aged eyes, her heart melted immediately. Memories of his kindness suddenly flooded her. The final gift from her father, a letter of agreement signed by Andrew Graystone, permitting her departure from the Graystone family, further added to her confusion.
Worried about deciding alone, she turned to Alex. Through her eyes, she asks him to answer his grandpa.
"Grandpa, we didn’t bring any clothes. How could we sleep here?" Alex said.
Andrew asked, "If your clothes are here, will you stay overnight?" still trying to persuade his grandson.
"Yes, of course..." Alex answered casually. There was no way they had prepared clothes for them, much less Aurora.
Andrew Graystone nodded slowly, a subtle smile on his lips. "What a coincidence. Alvin has brought your clothes. It looks like he has organized them in your room..." he remarked, glancing at Alvin next to Thomas Moon. "Have you finished arranging their clothes, Alvin?"
Alex and Aurora were stunned to hear that. Both turned to see Alvin in disbelief.
"Yes, Old Master... I finished arranging everything," Alvin answered, avoiding Alex’s gaze.
Alvin knew his boss would be angry with him. However, he had no choice when Old Master Graystone called him this morning and asked him in secret. Tina and Martin also agreed with the Old Master’s idea that they should let them sleep here to share the same bedroom.
Alex shook his head slightly, frustrated that his assistant had betrayed him. He could only accept it. However, he now worries because his bedroom has only one bed.
...
"Dad, Alex, it’s time to head to the party hall," Matthew Graystone interjected before Alex could complete his sentence.
Andrew Graystone glanced at Thomas Moon, who stood next to his son. "Have all the guests arrived, Thomas?" he asked.
"Yes, Old Master. Everyone is gathered in the hall, excitedly waiting for your speech," Thomas Moon said with a smile, stepping aside to let them leave the living room.
Everyone walked towards the event hall.
Aurora felt trapped with her mother-in-law, who suddenly appeared at her side. At the same time, Alex chatted on the phone just a few steps behind, fully absorbed in his conversation.
She was both tense and puzzled by this kinder, more graceful version of Sophia, so different from her expectations.
When Aurora learned about her marriage to Alex, she thought his mother would dislike her at their first meeting.
However, what she expected did not happen; Sophia treated her with great kindness despite knowing that she was not the child of a wealthy conglomerate in the capital but rather the daughter of a businessman with a mediocre, medium-sized business.
