Chapter 88: I’m sorry Josh!

"Yes, what is it?" Alex asked gently.

"Alex, please don’t blame Josh for what happened to me. He isn’t wrong at all. I’m the one who asked him to stay outside."

She begged, knowing that Alex would certainly punish Josh for not protecting her, regardless of any excuse Josh might offer later.

Alex slightly nods before answering, "Of course, I won’t punish him for that."

Aurora was genuinely amazed by how genuine he was with his words, expressing kindness instead of punishment towards Josh.

This was unusual for her; in her memories, she knew Alex never tolerated failure, and those who disobeyed his commands faced punishment.

A spring-like smile slowly spread across her lips as she softly said, "Thank you, Alex... that’s very kind of you."

Nevertheless, Alex’s following words rendered her speechless.

"You’re always welcome, Aurora. But I just can’t let this slide. How could he dare to curse at you? That kind of attitude is unacceptable and would render a certain punitive action," he said, stepping away before Aurora could reply.

’Cursed me?’ Aurora asked, puzzled, as she tried to recall.

Moments later, she remembered that Josh had panicked and cursed her when Alex arrived.

Aurora could only laugh with bitterness.

’Oh, dear Josh, my friend! I wish I could help you out. But don’t worry—You’ve got my thoughts and prayers. I hope he didn’t send you to Mount Everest!’

Not long after talking with Alex, she set aside all thoughts about Alex and distracted herself with more urgent issues. Meeting her family, the Spencers.

Neil’s betrayal left her perplexed. Why would he do such a thing? She recalled that Neil had always been her father’s confidant.

Her father had supported Neil since his teenage years. However, he had the audacity to switch sides and betrayed her father the moment her father passed away.

’Did they take his family hostage?’ Aurora remains skeptical. She recalls Neil as an orphan without any family.

She needs to talk to Aunty Tina to explain this. Oddly, Tina has not yet shown up.

’Where is Aunty Tina? Is she okay?’

...

While in Tina’s wardroom,

Tina and Josh sit on the sofa, facing one another, but their eyes avoid looking at each other.

And neither spoke, as each appeared to drown in their thoughts.

Tina couldn’t help but think about how happy Aurora must be feeling now that her husband hurried over to be with her after hearing about her injury.

She was eager to dash to Aurora’s wardroom to catch their sweet moment together. Yet, she understood that giving them a little more time alone was essential to enjoy each other’s company.

Tina’s eyes beamed, and her smile framed her lips.

However, Josh feels utterly different from Tina. He feels gloomy and worried. His Boss will surely scold and punish him.

Even Alvin, who arrived with Alex, could only offer some encouraging words to help him stay strong if Boss scolded him.

Soon after, the peaceful silence of the room was gently interrupted by a soft knock on the door.

"Is that Alvin?" Tina asked as she turned toward the door. She started to get up to open it, but Josh had already approached and opened it instead.

As Josh opened the door, a faint smile crossed his face; he already suspected it would be Alex.

"Sir..." Josh greeted him politely, a thin smile playing on his lips.

"Josh, come with me. We need to talk," Alex said coldly before gazing at Tina. "Aunty Tina, can you accompany my wife? Please make sure she gets some rest," he asked.

Tina, who didn’t often see Alex so close, was pleasantly surprised to catch a glimpse of the heavenly handsome gentleman.

A warm smile spread across her face as she nodded in response to the man talking to her.

"Y-Yes, sir. I’ll make sure the young Madam gets enough rest," Tina said nervously yet excitedly as she was about to meet Aurora.

"Thank you," Alex said, leaving with Josh.

Tina took a moment to notice that Alex had headed out with Josh.

She finally came to her senses when a voice from the doorway called her name.

"Aunty Tina, are you alright?" Alvin’s warm voice gently pulled her back to her senses.

She smiled at him warmly before dashing towards Aurora’s room.

The moment Tina entered the room, she felt her heart settle as she saw her young Madam looking as healthy as ever.

Without a bandage on Aurora’s head, no one would guess she’s the patient! Right now, she’s happily munching on grapes, wholly absorbed in the television, blissfully enjoying her moment.

Tina stands by the door, waiting for Aurora to notice her.

However, Aurora remained absorbed in the TV news and was unaware of Tina standing at the door.

Tina decided to approach, or she might stand there for another hour.

With a gentle clearing of her throat, Tina approached the bed. "Ma’am, seeing you doing so well brings me joy."

"Oh, Aunty..." Aurora gasped in surprise, glancing at Tina, who was already in the room.

’Huh, when did she get here?’ Aurora thought, grinning with joy at the sight of Tina. But her smile faded as she noticed the bruises and the purplish tint on Tina’s cheeks.

Hiding her sadness and self-blame, she gestures for Tina to sit on the stool beside the bed before saying, "I’m strong, Aunty; stop worrying about me."

With a gentle smile, Tina hears her response and settles onto the stool beside the bed.

"Ma’am, how did I never know you have the strength and skills to cripple those wicked gangsters?" Tina asked, unable to hide her curiosity.

Tina smiled at Aurora, noticing her trembling eyes. She paused, waiting for a response, but Aurora appeared at a loss for words.

"When did you learn those moves? Why haven’t I heard you learned to fight all this time?" Tina keeps questioning.

"Aunty, do you remember I practiced Taekwondo when my mother was still alive?"

"I thought you forgot about the training." Tina remains puzzled.
