Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 85: Being Honest To Josh
Chapter 85: Being Honest To Josh
"Josh, why do you say that? You are certainly playing a significant role. You assist Tina and me! That’s a fact. You should be proud of it."
Aurora smiled, and she managed to comfort Josh. But a concern still clouded his eyes.
"I know. But look at you now... you have an apparent forehead wound. If I had followed you inside, you would be fine and won’t get hurt. And how am I supposed to meet your husband now?" Josh’s question sounds more like a statement.
A sudden tightness gripped her heart. The anxiety she had pushed aside came rushing back, filled with thoughts about meeting Alex’s entire family, especially her father.
"With how you look now, I can’t hide anything about the incident from him. They trim your hair a bit to sew your scalp—" Josh lost his words when he saw her expression wither. He could only grit his teeth, feeling lost.
Aurora was utterly shocked to find out they had shaved her hair. How could she possibly attend Andrew Graystone’s birthday party tomorrow?
"Really? Is it that visible?" Aurora asked, her fingers brushing against the bandage on her head.
Josh gasped softly, laughing in disbelief at her question.
"But that is not what I’m worrying about the most. Young Madam, YOU and I should be concerned if you injured your brain. You could have a concussion, for god sake!"
He is surprised that Aurora cares more about her appearance than her internal injury. He is concerned that she may have lost her memories.
Aurora took a deep, long breath while shaking her head.
"Josh, did you forget you are the one who said I’m fine?" She couldn’t help but roll her eyes, look at Josh, and let out a deep sigh.
"Really, Josh? You didn’t deceive me, did you? Just minutes ago, you said my scalp was only a bit scratched, and there wasn’t a crack or blood clot in my brain." She frowned as she looked into his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah, that’s true. You’re fine for someone who just got struck on the head." He chuckled, admiring her courage. She feared nothing except her husband, Alex. She consistently tried to present herself well to Alex and ensured she was home waiting for him.
When Josh feels he lacks the energy to talk to her, he must ready himself to confront Alex. Then, a thought strikes him: the question that has haunted him since he saw those burly men sprawled on the floor when he first entered her father’s office.
His gaze stayed on her, narrowing slightly as he watched her. She seemed more at ease now, trying to sit up.
"Mrs. Graystone, how do you manage to handle all those gangsters on your own? I didn’t know you had the level of skills and strength in you," he asked.
Josh still didn’t believe what Tina had told him—that Aurora had beaten them all. Even Tina couldn’t understand how her young miss possessed such strength and skill.
Aurora was stunned. Without her knowing, a small gasp formed in her mouth, and her eyes slightly shook.
’Damn! I completely forgot about that. I can’t hide my real skills and strength from him now, can I? God, please, please don’t let Tina expose me...’ She prays silently in her heart.
"Please don’t lie to me, Ma’am. Tina has already shared everything with me."
A playful smile spread across Josh’s face as he noticed a few lines on her smooth forehead. He sensed she was probably concocting an excuse.
Aurora laughed inwardly as God slammed the ’deny’ button on her prayer faster than a toddler can demolish a birthday cake.
’Gosh! It seemed I really can’t lie to him anymore...’
After Aurora managed to sit, she leaned back on the comfortable bed. She thanked him for helping her adjust her bed before she told him about her martial arts skills. But she wasn’t entirely honest with him, of course.
Josh was stunned as he heard Aurora’s explanation.
"Wow, you’re incredible. You trained for months because you didn’t want to look weak and aimed to rid me and make me jobless? Great!" Josh sarcastically praised her.
Josh was unsure whether to laugh or cry when he heard her intense motivation to train in martial arts. Unsurprisingly, she trained twice daily at Alex’s gym on the third floor.
Aurora laughed awkwardly, once again feeling guilty for not being able to be honest with him.
"Josh, you forgot the sentence, ’When I was little, I learned martial arts. I’ve just recently started honing my skills again.’" She corrected him.
"Yeah, I know. Still... your motivation to remove me really hurt my feelings." He smiles.
Aurora feels even worse now.
"Josh, you know I don’t like the idea of Alex placing you next to me as my bodyguard, right? That’s why I tried so hard to distance myself from you. But..."
"I have always considered you a friend. However, now that I understand your motivation, I don’t know why I feel sad..." Josh continued sorrowfully, feeling a bitter taste in his mouth.
"Geez, can you let me finish my words?" Aurora said, stifling her laughter at Josh’s sulky attitude, a look she had never seen on him before—She felt like she was talking with Tina.
"What?" Josh turned his sulky gaze toward her.
"I did want to get rid of you, but that was in the past. Now, with your more friendly attitude, unlike the former bodyguard who rarely smiled, I’ve completely forgotten about that," she said sincerely.
"Are you kidding, right?"
"Absolutely not! However, if you speak to me formally again, I might reconsider my thoughts about wanting to dismiss you." She ended her words with a light giggle.
A smile slowly framed Josh’s face, revealing his beautiful teeth.
"I won’t go back to being stiff and cold when I’m around you, Aurora. But you also need to understand that I can’t do that if people are around us. Your husband will throw me to Mount Everest!"
Aurora rolls her eyes before saying, "Darn It! Why are you afraid to climb up there?"
"Well, he tossed us out without any protective gear. Of course! No one would survive, right?" Josh smiled while shaking his head, recalling all his friends in the Green Hills.
Aurora was at a loss for words. She understood it was merely a joke in their resting room following Alex’s scolding. They would throw around funny phrases to amuse themselves.
"Okay, I’m really in trouble now!" Aurora took a deep sigh. She can’t feel at ease; a problem awaits her tomorrow.
Josh leaped from the chair beside the bed, rose quickly, and gazed at Aurora with concern. "Are you in pain?"
