Chapter 83: Who Are You?

At Star Medical Center.

Josh paced the patient’s room, feeling a blend of concern and hope. Aurora had been there for almost an hour yet still hadn’t regained consciousness.

He had never been this nervous for anyone else except when his mother was hospitalized and eventually passed away.

’Darn it! If she doesn’t wake up before Boss Alex arrives, I might end up climbing Mount Everest!’

He could only chew his nails as he gazed at Aurora on the bed. Numerous cables remained connected to her, and the medical devices arranged beside the bed heightened his anxiety.

’Come on, Aurora! I know you can do this. Wake up... please... Huh!?’

He exhaled heavily and resumed his movement, akin to a human iron, pacing back and forth in the not-too-big room.

"Josh, could you please stop walking like that? It’s making me feel even dizzier," Tina urged.

Josh stopped in his tracks, yet his face still showed worry and fear.

He looked at Tina, who sat on the stool next to the bed, smoothing the already tidy white blanket over Aurora. He understood that she was just as anxious as he was.

"Auntie, it’s best if you rest in your room," Josh said as he moved closer to the bed. "Your injury still needs you to rest to heal."

Josh felt sorry to see Tina. Although she claimed she was healthy and fine, he could see the gleam in her eyes, clearly reflecting her fatigue.

"Please, Aunty. Aurora would really feel sad and worried if she saw you like this. Your eyes look so red, and your face seems so wither," Josh continued, noticing Tina’s hesitation.

Tina inhaled deeply, redirecting her attention to Aurora. Despite knowing Josh’s words were accurate—her head and limbs genuinely ached—she had to stay in the room.

She wanted to be present when Aurora regained consciousness.

Without looking at Josh, she said, "Josh, I need to see her when she wakes up. I’m worried about her... what if something happens? I would never forgive myself if she..." Her voice shook, leaving the thought unfinished.

Tina was too frightened to imagine Aurora would never wake up.

Knowing that a solid object struck Aurora’s head scared Tina. Her mind never stopped imagining scenes from the K-dramas she usually watched happening to Aurora.

’What if Young Madam wakes up and doesn’t remember me? She might be paralyzed, right? Or maybe she has also lost her ability to speak? No! Please, God, don’t let that happen to my Aurora, okay!?’

She felt as though her head was about to explode.

Too many frightening questions were now swirling in her mind.

She attempted to dismiss these terrifying questions, but the more she tried, the more questions appeared.

"Aunty, please stop jinxing her. Try not to think about those worries. Young Madam will be fine. The doctor mentioned she would wake up shortly after the anesthetic wears off," Josh reassured, attempting to remain calm to help ease Tina’s anxiety.

Tina took a deep, long breath as she turned to look Josh in the eyes. "I know! I have to trust the doctor, but... deep inside my mind, I still feel worry and fear."

Josh could only clench his hands, unable to speak. He felt similarly despite the medical staff already mentioning that Aurora was fine.

"That scoundrel Neil, how could he betray his master’s daughter!? How could he? I hope he ends up in jail and faces the consequences for stooping so low!" Tina snarled, her eyes gleaming with annoyance as she remembered what happened in the office.

They both fell silent for a moment, absorbed in their thoughts.

Josh, the first to initiate the conversation, said, "Aunty, please rest in your room, or I will have to call the doctor and scold you instead."

His serious stare made it impossible for Tina to continue avoiding him.

Overwhelmed by Josh’s constant nagging, Tina rose from her chair and stated, "Okay, okay, I’ll go. But you have to promise me something, Josh. Promise me if Aurora wakes up, you will call me immediately."

"I heard you, Aunty. I’ll call you immediately. You have my word," Josh assured.

Finally, feeling relieved, Tina exited the room.

However, shortly after, his concerns resurfaced. A significant threat loomed: his boss, arriving soon, would undoubtedly punish him.

Josh felt regret for his negligence—He caused Aurora’s injury.

Aurora’s life remained at risk. The thought of Aurora abruptly leaving Alex caused him to remember Alex’s devastation when his assistant died unexpectedly a few weeks ago.

Thinking about his boss’s anger, Josh felt instantly nauseous.

’Aurora, could you please wake up now? I hope you don’t make me and the others anxious, alright?’

Josh whispered inwardly, his gaze still locked on Aurora, who lay asleep like an angel.

He stared at her for a few more minutes before walking towards the sofa at the end of the room.

Gazing at the white ceiling overhead, he mentally scripted sentences to share with his boss upon arrival.

As Josh continued to ponder, he noticed the medical machine’s rhythm becoming faster.

He spontaneously sat up straight and looked towards the bed.

How shocked he was to see the girl who had been sleeping like an angel, motionless, now awake with her gaze fixed on him. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"Aurora, you’re finally awake!" He leaped off the sofa and rushed to the bed, his face beaming with relief.

Noticing her silence while she frowned at him, he became worried.

"Are you okay? Do you need anything? Please let me know..." he asked anxiously. "Oh, sorry! I almost forgot. I need to call the on-duty doctor to check on you."

As Josh headed for the door, a gentle, raspy voice called out before he could get far.

"I’m sorry..."

Josh halted as he turned to face Aurora. He smiled at her.

"Ma’am, why are you apologizing? This isn’t your fault; it’s mine..." He asked, scratching his head awkwardly.

"I’m sorry, who are you?"

Instantly, Josh felt his blood run cold as he realized what had happened.

’What the...? Did she lose her memory?’
