Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 73: The Truth About Their Marriage
Chapter 73: The Truth About Their Marriage
Aurora had little choice but to accept his kind offer.
"If you want me to, I’ll take it. But, Alex, I hope you won’t regret it if I happen to lighten your wallet a bit..." She playfully shares her thoughts, eager to see how he reacts.
However, unexpectedly, this man challenges her even further.
"My money won’t run out, my lady, at least not for another seven generations. Go ahead, buy anything you fancy..." he suppresses a smile upon seeing her roll her lovely blue eyes.
Aurora can’t help but recall how frugal Alex had been with his ex-wives in the past.
’Wow, is this really Alexander Graystone? Why does he appear so dedicated now? He had never been like this before. What might have triggered such a significant transformation in him?’ She narrowed her eyes at him, trying to read his mind.
She observed his calm and content expression for a little longer and realized he was being honest.
"I’m just kidding. I’m not the type of woman who enjoys buying expensive stuff. No need to worry; I won’t empty your wallet, Mr. Graystone." A half-smile emerges on her lips as she turns her gaze away from him.
"But you must promise me never to use your money!"
"Hmmm, Okay. I won’t..." Aurora responds earnestly. All this time, she had already done so, using his money, and she would continue to use it again if he insisted.
Aurora was surprised to find her name, "Aurora Spencer," printed on the card.
’Since when has he prepared this card?’
Driven by curiosity, she raises her head to ask. Yet, her anxiety resurfaces upon seeing his unusual glance at her. Instantly, her question slips away as her mind focuses on keeping her composure.
"Anything else?" were the only words that escaped her lips to distract his unusual gaze from her.
"Of course," Alex responded, pulling a folded paper from his robe pocket.
’Wow, those robe pockets are amazing! How does he manage to pull out so many things from them?’ She watches Alex in awe, as if he has a magical pocket like Doraemon’s.
"This is your father’s will. I just completed it today and managed to give it to you." He placed the paper on the table and pushed it toward her.
Aurora quickly opened the paper. Although it was just two pages, the content inside shocked her.
’Shareholding ownership letter!?’ Aurora continued reading the paper, and what she came across next shocked her even more.
She never imagined Aurora Spencer’s father owning a five percent share in one of Alex Gold’s mines in Opal City.
’My goodness, the land Alex bought is James Spencer’s land...’
She feels goosebumps as she finally recalls that massive project. It’s no surprise that Alex agreed to James Spencer’s outrageous request since the land owned by James was crucial for Alex’s mining project at Opal City.
"Aurora, if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask me," Alex’s voice snapped at her.
"Alex, I thought my dad sold his company to you! Why did you give me this share instead of cash?" Aurora feigns curiosity as if she were unaware of the mining project.
"James Spencer, your dad, sold his company and all its assets in Opal City to me, but he didn’t ask for any money. Instead, he requested shares in the company I will establish there and that I marry you," he explained calmly. However, Aurora, who heard this, was once again stunned.
Aurora remains unaware of this because Aurora Spencer’s father only states that she must accept the marriage arrangement and follow her husband’s lead.
Now, it’s clear to her why Alex is ready to agree to this marriage arrangement without meeting the girl first; the land means everything to him.
’Alex, you are unbelievable! How could you do that? You even kept it from me?’ Aurora expressed her disbelief while attempting to contain her shock.
When she becomes his assistant, she is unaware of this arrangement.
Aurora laughed bitterly in her heart, realizing Alex had never changed. In his mind, he only thinks about money and profit. He even sacrifices his sanity to marry again after his six failed marriages. And it was all for business.
"A five percent amount is quite significant. You will receive an annual dividend deposited directly into your bank account. I hope you understand how it works..." he pauses, waiting for her to respond.
Alex’s words draw her back from her thoughts. She nods in understanding. In her previous life, she also invested in a few blue-chip companies.
"I understand..." she softly replies, meeting his gaze.
"That sounds wonderful! Just a friendly reminder, Aurora, if you choose to sell the share, it will be exclusively to me and not to anyone else," he gently reminded her.
"Mmm, I read that in this agreement letter. If I had to be honest, I wasn’t planning to sell it since I didn’t need the money. Also, I still have your card..." She smiles gently, her eyes drifting to the sleek black card on the table.
"Good. It is reassuring to hear that," Alex said, pleased with her response. "Very well, I won’t disturb you further. Have a good sleep." He moved toward the door without waiting for her reply.
Aurora remained seated on the sofa, her gaze fixed toward Alex’s direction as he vanished behind the shut door.
A whirlwind of thoughts now filled her mind.
Especially concerning the shareholder letter she still held, she couldn’t believe that Aurora Spencer’s father owned such a valuable asset, leading Alex to grant her a five percent share.
In reality, Patrick, Alex’s partner and best friend, has only gained five percent of the value of his investment and contributions to helping Alex with the mining company they have developed in Opal City.
’I guess it’s time to look up more information about James Spencer,’ she thought with a little smile as she got up from the cozy sofa and looked for her cell phone.
After finding a message from her father’s lawyer in Opal City, she typed the answer she had delayed giving.
"Uncle Lorenzo, I hope you’re doing well! I’m really sorry for my late reply. I’m looking forward to arriving at your office tomorrow afternoon. Just let me know if that works for you!"
