Chapter 164: Alex Contact Zee?

Aurora’s hand trembled with excitement as she clenched it into a fist, trying to contain her happy emotions.

She patiently waited for her father to say something.

"Young madam, I heard from your father-in-law that you have a head injury?" Thomas Moon asked worriedly, glancing at her head.

’What do you expect, Rory? Of course, he didn’t hear it!’ Aurora shrugs, feeling disappointed.

"It’s merely a minor injury, Uncle. The wound has healed; now just the scar remains..." Aurora clarified as they continued to walk towards the house.

Just as Aurora had imagined earlier, she spotted Alex waiting by the back door. From that distance, she could see the concern in his eyes.

"Oh, it looks like the young master is waiting for you..." Thomas remarked, slowing down a bit to walk just behind her.

Aurora smiled at her father and said, "Uncle, thank you for joining me on my stroll. Please take care of your health, Uncle," before picking up her pace toward Alex.

"Alex, what’s the matter? I noticed you seemed distressed waiting for me. Is everything alright?" Aurora said with a gentle smile as she paused before him.

Alex didn’t rush to answer her.

Instead, he took her hand and warmed it in his palms.

"Alex, I’m okay..." she replied, noticing his concern. "I’m perfectly warm..."

"But... why do your hands feel like you’ve just held ice cubes?" Alex smiled and raised his eyes to meet hers.

Aurora narrowed her eyes at him, lightly punching his abs. "Oh, please, Mr. Graystone, can you stop assuming I’m weak? I’m strong, alright!" she protested.

"This cold won’t kill me..." she said confidently, offering him her best smile to ease his concerns about her.

Alex chuckled as he took her hand and placed it in his long coat pocket, leading her inside.

"I know you are strong. But I was just worried you walked too long outside. Let’s go to the library. You can warm up there, or do you want to go upstairs and get a nap?"

Alex offered, his gaze beaming at her.

"Library..." Aurora replied quickly.

Aurora could imagine what might happen if she chose to take a nap. This man would likely not allow her to do that, and they could be doing something else instead.

Thinking about it, she feels her face heat up. Lowering her gaze, she silently follows him to the library.

"Why are you hesitating to come upstairs and get a nap? I’ll come along if you want me to."

Aurora, "..."

She remained silent but looked at him with a glare.

Alex laughed lightly, "Aurora, it would be great if you could let go of that shyness around me, okay?" His playful tone only made her cheeks flush even brighter.

"I’m not shy! I’m just not feeling tired. I thought it would be nice to visit the library. Uncle Moon mentioned it earlier, and it caught my interest." She explained, hoping to divert his sultry thoughts.

"Oh, yeah. You still haven’t visited the library, have you?" Alex asked.

"Hmm, I’ve never visited that place." Aurora tries to hide her true feelings after lying to him. She feels awful about it.

"All right, let’s go. I also need to talk to Grandpa there."

"Oh, Grandpa is there too?" Aurora was surprised.

"Yeah, he asked me to meet him there," Alex answered as he was about to open the library door when Aurora stopped him.

"Huh!? Why did you stop me?" he asked. Noticing the tremor in Aurora’s gaze, concern was apparent in her eyes.

"Alex, I’m concerned that Grandpa will want to have a serious talk. I mean... he might have a secret to discuss with you." Aurora gently declined to enter.

Alex laughed softly at her words, resting his hand on her shoulder.

"Aurora, you must remember that you are my wife. Naturally, you can hear everything we discuss."

Alex had already opened the door without giving her a chance to say anything, leaving Aurora no choice but to follow him inside.

"Aurora, Alex, you guys come..." Andrew Graystone, who sat comfortably on the sofa in the corner, smiled warmly and invited them to join him.

"Grandpa, I won’t disturb you and Alex. I’ll walk around the library..." Aurora answers. She plans to pick a few books and read in the reading area.

"Alright, have fun, my dear Aurora..." Andrew smiled and motioned for Alex to sit in front of him.

...

Aurora quickly left the seating area and strolled, gazing around the vast two-story library. Upon entering, she felt like she was stepping into another world; it didn’t feel like a house.

After a few minutes of walking around, her mind recalled a short message that she hadn’t had time to check earlier.

Standing by the window, she took a moment to check the apps she often used for her underground business.

In an unexpected turn, she felt her knees buckle beneath her.

’Oh my goodness! Why did Alex contact me?’

She quietly swallowed as she read the text again and again.

"Zee, I usually have my assistant reach out to you, but she’s not available at the moment. From now on, you might hear directly from either Patrick or me. I’d appreciate it if you could reply to my text, as I have a few things to discuss with you."

"I have a proposal to offer! I hope to hear your reply soon, Zee!"

Reading both of Alex’s texts leaves Aurora feeling dizzy. She understands precisely what he expects of her.

’Should I accept it, or should I ignore him?’

Aurora pondered, noticing a new text had just arrived in her inbox a few minutes earlier.

’Are they having problems?’

She felt a strong urge to quickly open her laptop and check their security firewall, eager to help in any way she could.

However, she may need to set it aside, as her eyes are now focused in a specific direction. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

’I don’t remember seeing this new bookcase here before.’

Aurora thought while approaching the bookshelf. She looked at the old, seemingly expensive books inside for a moment, then rested her eyes on the few black agendas neatly lined up.

When she reached for the bookshelf, she was surprised to discover it was not locked!
