Chapter 163: OMG! Can Dad Hear Me?

In the garden

Aurora could finally escape Alex’s mother’s clinginess when Sophia’s friend called and distracted her.

She happily took this opportunity to stroll into the lovely backyard and soak in the breathtaking mountain scenery in the distance.

However, her cell phone buzzed, pulling her attention away. She recalled it constantly vibrating in her pocket since their lunch. Someone had reached out to her; whoever it was, it must be important.

Just as Aurora was about to check her text messages, she heard someone speaking to her.

"Young Madam, it’s best not to walk outside too long. It can get slightly chilly here."

’Dad!’ Aurora’s heart raced excitedly at the chance to talk to him again.

Once she tucked her cell phone away in her coat pocket, she turned to him and offered a warm smile.

"Uncle Moon, this place is simply too stunning to ignore." She finds a reason; even though it’s already 50°F, the temperature doesn’t bother her.

"You’re absolutely right, ma’am; this place is truly stunning. However, you should wear this," Thomas Moon said as he offered her a scarf.

Aurora didn’t accept it right away.

She was taken aback when her father gifted her the branded scarf. ’Did Alex ask him?’

Thomas smiles knowingly at her confusion before adding, "This is brand new, ma’am. Your mother-in-law asked me to bring it to you because she was worried you might catch a cold."

Aurora quickly takes it and drapes the scarf around her neck. "Thank you, Uncle Moon..."

"Your mother-in-law suggested you might enjoy resting on the second floor or spending some time in the library."

Upon hearing about the library, Aurora feels a strong drive to visit and look at its collection of books. She reminisces about the place, as it brings back memories of her childhood days spent there, reading and studying with Alex.

However, her priority is now to talk with her father. She has enough time to visit the library later.

"I’m not tired, Uncle. I simply wanted to take in the scenery. It’s very mesmerizing," She smiled warmly at him before continuing.

"Uncle, would you mind showing me the way to that backyard... over there? It looks beautiful." She pointed toward her father’s house.

Aurora couldn’t believe she had boldly asked him to take her to the childhood home.

Noticing Thomas Moon’s slight surprise, Aurora silently prays, hoping her father will agree. All she wanted was to spend time with him and discuss his health.

Thomas Moon didn’t answer her immediately but looked at his watch before responding politely and guiding her the way.

"Of course, young madam..." he said, gesturing for her to proceed. "However, I recommend we not walk for too long, or your husband might scold me for letting you stay outdoors too long."

Aurora laughs happily as she thinks about Alex. He is so sulky because his mother didn’t even give him a chance to spend time with her.

"Hahaha, Uncle... My husband wouldn’t do that; Alex spoils me too much. Don’t worry..." Aurora feels delighted to share with her father about her husband.

Upon hearing that, Thomas’s face lit up. He briefly looked at Aurora before saying, "If I may say, young madam, I’m so happy for you. This is the first time young master Alex really cares and loves his wife. It never happened before," he said genuinely.

Indeed, she is well aware of that—after all, she is Alex’s personal assistant. However, she cannot directly reveal the truth to him.

"Hmm, I hear that quite a bit from Sophia and Alex’s staff. Is he perhaps old enough to change?" she said casually, laughing playfully as she looked at him.

"Hahaha, you’re right, ma’am. However, you are also mistaken. He may have changed because of you..." Thomas Moon shifted his focus back to the stone path ahead.

"You are unlike any of his ex-wives I have known; your beauty comes not just from your appearance but also from your heart..." he added.

Thomas sincerely shares his thoughts. He vividly recalls that Aurora is the only one of Alex’s wives willing to spend time and talk to him.

In the past, none of Alex’s ex-wives would even glance at the house staff or engage in a conversation like this; they merely made demands and issued orders.

He didn’t mind such an attitude; he understood serving them was part of his job. However, this young lady appears different. Not only is she always smiling at them, but she is even willing to speak to them. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

What made him always remember her was the comfort she offered him. She says, "Uncle Moon, you can think of me as your daughter. Because... I already consider you like a father; you resemble him so much..."

Upon hearing her soothing words for the first time, he felt like his daughter had returned to him through this girl.

’Thomas, you are so foolish to think that...’ He could only laugh inwardly, remembering those times.

"Thank you for your kind words, Uncle," Aurora said, feeling a surge of happiness.

After a moment of silence, she asked again, "How is your health lately, Uncle?" She felt worried as she noticed how thin he had become.

"I’m fine, in the same health as always," Thomas said. However, he soon halted his steps. "Young madam, we should head back to the main house."

Aurora sighs silently. She still wants to talk to him, but they have already walked away from the house. She believes Alex will come to pick her up if she doesn’t return soon.

She had no choice but to return home, yet a thought crossed her mind as she made her way to the house.

’Should I test whether he could hear me or not?’ Aurora wonders.

After a while, she finally mustered the courage, and as they walked, she began to speak.

"Dad, I’m not sure if you can hear me now. I want to share something with you: I am truly your daughter. God granted me a second chance. After my incident, I believed I was dead, but I was reborn as Aurora Spencer."

Aurora was shocked when she saw Thomas Moon suddenly stop in his tracks and look at her with a frown.

’Oh my God... Can Dad hear me?’ Her heart raced wildly, feeling overwhelmed.
