Chapter 156: Are You Falling in Love with Me, Rena?

Serendipity Restaurant.

When Aurora and Josh arrive, Aurora is surprised to find Danny there. He usually comes late on Friday nights because he has a lot of work to finish.

She noticed that Danny was utterly engrossed in conversation with Renata.

They didn’t see her approaching their table.

"Hi... What are you guys discussing?" Aurora asked, shocking both of them as they looked at her, surprised.

"Why do you guys look so...No way! Are you talking about me?" Aurora asked again while sitting next to Renata, across from Josh, who sat beside Danny.

Aurora narrowed her eyes at Renata and Danny as she awaited their response.

"Aurora, you’ve made it at last," Danny said, ignoring her question. "Did you catch what Rena mentioned?"

Danny’s desperate expression instantly revealed to Aurora what Renata meant to communicate to him. She smiled at him.

"No, I didn’t hear anything. I just saw you guys looking at each other."

Aurora heard from Renata that she tries to tell Danny about her rebirth nearly daily. However, Renata realizes Danny still cannot listen to anything she says about rebirth.

"Did Rena curse you? Why are you looking so annoyed at her?" Aurora casually asked while stifling a laugh as she observed how sulky Danny appeared now.

Danny stood from his seat, removed his black suit, and draped it over the back of the chair before sitting again. He then rolled up the sleeves of his white slim-fit shirt to his elbows, displaying his muscular arms.

He didn’t respond to Aurora directly, but his gaze shifted back to Renata.

"That’s the problem. Every time Renata was about to say something, no words came out. She only stares at me in silence. It’s like she suddenly becomes a mute, autistic person..."

Danny felt suspicious of Renata’s strange behavior.

Renata rolled her eyes while smiling at Aurora as if conveying through her gaze, "He is so stupid and slow! He has not yet heard anything about your rebirth!"

Frustrated with Danny, Renata casually sipped her glass of wine.

"You know what, Aurora?" Danny’s gaze turned tense when he saw Aurora and the others staring at him.

"I think Rena was about to confess her feelings to me, but all her words got stuck in her throat—" Danny’s voice trailed off, surprised to see Renata suddenly cough.

"Cough! Cough!" Renata unexpectedly spat out the red wine she had just sipped upon hearing Danny’s abrupt words.

"Wow! Is it really true? Rena, you actually wanted to confess to me, right!? Right!?" Danny raised an eyebrow slightly while looking at Renata.

Aurora stifled her laugh.

Renata, glaring at Danny.

"I believe you turned me down. Didn’t you? I recall you mentioning that being my wife was not a possibility?" Danny said as he passed Renata a napkin.

Aurora smiles as she sees Renata and Danny in an argument like this. It feels as if she has been transported back, witnessing a familiar conflict between her two closest friends.

She began eating her dinner, ignoring them, while pondering how fun it would be if Danny knew about her rebirth. Then, they could talk openly as they usually did.

Not long after that, Renata finally regained her composure. She looked at Danny before expressing her annoyance.

"For goodness’ sake, Danny Hamilton! You’re completely mistaken. My feelings about you haven’t changed. I will never be attracted to you, okay?" She laughed while shaking her head.

Instead of feeling angry, Danny couldn’t help but laugh when he heard her words. Now, he felt a sense of amusement as he watched Renata’s sulky expression.

"Be careful, Rena; those words could lead you to fall for me. Your fate might change with God’s intervention..." Danny cautioned.

"I will decline! You and I can’t become a couple...Impossible!" Renata concluded her statement by taking a bite of the freshly served fries.

She ignored Danny, who still tried to tease her, and turned to see Aurora. A smile radiated from her eyes when she saw her best friend, who had begun enjoying her dinner.

"Isn’t that right, Rory? I will never fall for him?" Renata asked with a light-hearted smile, but Josh, who had been absorbed in his cell phone, looked up with a frown, glancing her way.

’What’s going on with this woman? Why does she call Aurora that? And how is Aurora okay with someone calling her Rory?’ Josh wondered.

This was not the first time he had heard Renata address Aurora like that, and every time he heard that name, his mind instantly directed to his best friend, Aurora Moon.

"Well, Rena... I agree with Danny; God holds our fate," Aurora said. She met Renata’s gaze and saw the annoyance in it.

"Rena, did you forget what happened to me? With my fate?" She wanted to remind Renata about her fate—rebirth in someone else’s body. The worst part was that she fell for Alex, a man she had never dreamed would become her husband.

Despite not informing Renata about her marriage to Alex, she remained anxious. How would her best friend react if she knew about it?

In the past, Renata and Danny knew that she had never shown interest in Alex. Even when Renata teased her, saying she could have fallen for Alex, she always ignored it.

But now, destiny had led her to be Alex’s wife.

After expressing her frustration to Danny, Renata’s previously satisfied expression gradually shifted to tension, hearing Aurora’s words.

’Oh no! How did I forget that? Please, God, let my fate remain unchanged. I’m happy with my relationship with him, only as a friend, without crossing into a romantic relationship,’ Renata began to pray in her heart.

...

As the night grew late, they continued to chat and enjoy their dinner.

Instead of discussing Renata’s feelings for Danny, they shifted to light-hearted conversations about their jobs and bussiness.

However, Danny’s next question made the two women pause their chewing and caused their moods to drop again.

"Aurora, what’s wrong with your fate? Did something happen to you recently? Care to share with us?" Danny asked curiously.

Josh also looked at Aurora, wondering which fate had changed. Did she mean her fate was to marry Alexander Graystone?
