Chapter 151: Abandon Her Plan

At Stardust Tower.

The day flew by in the blink of an eye! Just as Aurora wrapped up her tasks, Alex called her, making it a perfect moment to end the day.

"You seem busy. Did Patrick overload you with too many assignments?" Alex’s concerned voice came from the other end, prompting Aurora to smile as she powered down her computer.

She wasn’t busy with Patrick’s tasks; instead, she was preoccupied with her own matters and dealing with Renata, who had been bothering her all day.

After almost two months of being reborn as Aurora Spencer, having someone she could talk to as her true self made her feel better.

"Yeah, I’m finished. Well, he didn’t give me more work today. And he seems preoccupied with something and forgot to assign any assignment to me."

Aurora genuinely answered. She had already completed all the tasks Patrick assigned her, and there were no further follow-up tasks.

"How about you? Are you still swamped with your work? Would you like to head home with me or go alone?"

"Can you come upstairs? Please wait for me at the penthouse. I will soon finish this boring job!" Alex’s annoyed tone was enough to make Aurora laugh.

This was the complete opposite of the man she knew in her past life. Alex, in the past, loved to work rather than spend time with his ex-wives.

"Absolutely, I’ll go upstairs and wait for you. There’s no hurry with your work, Alex. I’m completely fine spending time in your penthouse," Aurora replied playfully, attempting to reassure him.

She added, "Maybe I will cook something if you allow me to use the kitchen... or I can enjoy some time watching a movie instead!"

"My penthouse is yours too. Feel free to use the kitchen whenever you like!" His laugh made her smile even wider.

"Sounds wonderful!"

"Okay, I’m going to hang up now. I must get back to my meeting. Enjoy your time..." Alex promptly disconnected the call.

After ending the call, Aurora glanced around the room. She saw Josh sleeping on the sofa while David sat behind his computer screen, his expression tense.

Once Aurora had tidied up her desk, she cheerfully approached David.

"Still not finished?"

David answered, stretching his arms and looking at Aurora, "Yeah, just a little more. Are you done?"

"Hmm... I need to go home now. See you tomorrow, David." Aurora waved and called for Josh to follow her.

However, before leaving the room, David called out to her, "Let’s hang out for dinner, Aurora, while your husband isn’t back yet."

Aurora smiled at David. "Well, my husband has already returned. Bye, David..."

"Wow, you really lack loyalty to your friend. The moment your husband returns, I’m out of the picture."

David chuckled as he saw Aurora brush him off; she simply waved farewell and strolled away.

...

As they walked to the elevator, Josh glanced at Aurora worriedly.

Guarding his lady boss had recently slowed down his life. He only worked behind his computer when necessary or to play a game. They rarely went outside. He didn’t like this kind of task, but he also couldn’t refuse this assignment.

With a silent sigh, Josh apologized, "Sorry, Aurora... I dozed off. I’ll call someone to get a car ready." He took out his cell phone, but Aurora halted him.

"We aren’t going home yet. I’ll wait for Alex upstairs." She pressed the button for the sixtieth floor and asked Josh to join her.

Josh felt a sense of relief and joined her.

Upon reaching the sixtieth floor, he suddenly recalled what happened after their lunch at Serendipity Restaurant.

Earlier, he asked her, and she gave an absurd reason—Renata had just lost her puppies, so they cried. He sensed that she was hiding something from him.

As they entered the penthouse, he followed her to the living room.

"Aurora, if you have difficulty... and you feel worried about telling your husband, you can tell me. I’m ready to listen." Josh paused as he looked at her confused expression. He continued, "I know you hide something from me, Aurora."

Aurora silently scolded him in her mind as she continued to walk to the kitchen.

"Come on, Aurora, you think I’ll fall for your excuses?" He leaned against the island, gazing at her.

"Would you like a beer or some water?" Aurora asked, ignoring his curiosity. freewebnσvel.cѳm

"Water," Josh chuckled, knowing Aurora was avoiding him. After he accepted the water bottle from her, he said, "Alright, it’s time to tell me, Aurora."

Aurora slowly drank her orange juice while gazing at Josh when a thought crossed her mind: to test whether Josh could hear her.

"Alright, if that’s what you want!"

Josh couldn’t help but stifle a laugh; it was delightful to see Aurora finally being honest with him.

Aurora’s heart raced excitedly as she shared, "Josh, I cried because Renata finally heard my confession that I’m Rory, Aurora Moon."

She waited for Josh’s reaction, but after a few more seconds, she knew she had failed. Josh didn’t hear her at all.

"Why aren’t you talking? Why do you just stare at me like that?" Josh questioned, puzzled. After a deep sigh, he added, "Forget it, Aurora! I won’t ask you again if you’re not ready to share."

Aurora sighed in frustration. She wanted to tell him, but couldn’t, as Josh wasn’t as suspicious of her as Aurora Moon, so that he couldn’t hear her words.

"Josh, you can take a break. I also need to rest!" Aurora said. After Josh left, she sat on the sofa with her laptop on her lap.

She needed to verify the hidden message for Patrick. ’Did he manage to read it?’

After checking the hidden code, Aurora was shocked to see a reply from Patrick.

"Zee, what’s going on with you? Why did you send me that text message?"

Instantly, Aurora felt her blood run cold in her veins as she read the message repeatedly.

"What the hell? How did Patrick recognize me?" She gasped, repeatedly trying to read the writing, fearful of misreading it.

However, the text remained unchanged, and Patrick knew it was her, Zee.

"How could I tell him about myself as Rory? This man will discover my hidden identity as well! Damn it!"

Aurora quickly abandoned her plan to expose herself through that encrypted text.
