Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 136: She was Shocked To See Alex!
Chapter 136: She was Shocked To See Alex!
Aurora’s first day as an intern at Stardust Tech was exceptionally enjoyable, unlike the typical internship experience, thanks to Alex, who had already arranged everything for her.
’Did Alex even know my ability?’ Aurora silently shook her head, laughing inwardly.
When Aurora saw it was past five, she quickly turned off the computer and glanced at David. Her eyebrow arched at the sight of his terrible expression now.
"David, you work really hard," she said as she approached him. "I’ve finished my task and need to go home now..."
"Aurora, just give me a moment... I’m close to finishing this fucking code," David replied, his eyes glued to the monitor and his fingers dancing over the keyboard.
David’s serious expression was enough to pique Aurora’s curiosity. She said nothing but walked behind him, intrigued to see what was causing David’s stress. This was atypical for him; he was the type of man who always viewed everything as easy.
As Aurora gazes at David’s computer screen, a smile gradually appears on her face. This is precisely the code Patrick sent her; she only needs ten minutes to solve it.
However, she notices that David has already spent fifty minutes on it and is still nowhere near completion.
"Good luck, David!" Aurora said softly, giving his shoulder a gentle pat.
She didn’t bother to wait for him; he would probably finish in another four hours.
"Aurora, hold on... Ugh, you’re so cruel!" David yelled, but he remained glued to his computer. He was determined to complete it today to show Aurora and Patrick he truly belonged here.
"See you tomorrow, David!" she said, gesturing for Josh to follow her as she left the room.
Soon, Aurora and Josh walked toward the elevator, and at the same time, Patrick’s office door swung open. He appeared with a broader smile upon seeing her.
"Are you heading home now?" Patrick inquired as he walked toward her.
Aurora smiled back at him as she continued to the elevator. She could see Patrick would not leave his office anytime soon, knowing how much he truly loved his job. Almost all the time he spent in his office, he had a space resembling a small apartment beside it.
"Hmm, I have completed the task you requested. I’ve sent it to your email..." she replied, watching him as he walked beside her.
"Yeah, I’ve just read it. Where’s David?" Patrick inquired, noticing only Josh following them.
Aurora chuckled and stopped right before the elevator. She turned to see him. "You torture him with such complicated code, Patrick. Poor David... he might sleep here tonight." She chuckled.
Patrick frowned. "Is he truly that awful?" The disappointment in his voice was unmistakable.
Aurora smiled before replying, "Well, he is good in my class." Noticing the confusion in Patrick’s eyes, she calmly continued, "The thing is, you equate his abilities with mine. You shouldn’t have sent that code to him."
Patrick was amazed to see just how confident she was!
He wonders, ’Is he really that good? Should I challenge her with more difficult tasks?’
"Alright, sir. I have to go home now, I need to video call my hubby. See you tomorrow!" Aurora said playfully as she entered the elevator, leaving Patrick no chance to respond before the door shut.
...
Once the elevator doors shut, Josh, who had remained quiet until then, finally burst out, "Aurora, are you really that good with computers?"
He suspected this girl was skilled in coding, but he was unaware that her talents could catch Patrick Wallace’s eye.
"Josh, please don’t trust what you hear," Aurora replied nonchalantly.
Josh didn’t believe her answer. He narrowed his eyes on her. Noticing her intense focus on her cell phone, he continued to question her, voicing his suspicions: "Can you hack?"
A soft chuckle left her lips. Instead of answering, she asked him, without looking at him, "What question is that?"
"I know you can, Aurora." He laughed, aware of the girl’s ability. He still remembers that the report she sent him contained the exact details she had received from Patrick.
Aurora raised her head and grinned at Josh. "Seriously, I have no idea. But I’m willing to try my skills with your cell phone. Are you prepared? I can hack your cell phone now..."
Instantly, Josh’s face turned pale. He immediately shook his head, "No, thank you, lady boss!" He no longer wanted to ask her about it. He had already found his answer: this girl is skilled.
"Are you sure?" Aurora’s voice trailed off as her cell phone rang. When she saw Max’s name on the screen, she instantly remembered the unfinished conversation earlier today.
She picked up the call immediately.
"Hello, Max..."
Her voice was enough to make Josh look at her with tension.
"Aurora, I’m in the lobby waiting for you. We still have a lot to talk about; you don’t forget about it, do you?"
Max’s words cause her to take a deep breath. She looked at Josh, whose intense gaze met hers, before replying to Max.
"Max, just talk. I’m listening, I don’t have time right now to meet you...I need to go home!" she replied, aware that Josh would certainly prevent her from meeting Max.
"Why can’t?" Max’s disappointed voice came through the line, making Aurora feel sorry. She wanted to meet him too, to clarify what they had talked about but had not yet finished.
Before Aurora could respond, the elevator doors slid open, and she was taken aback to find Alex waiting beside the car he typically drove himself.
As soon as she spotted him smiling and waving, her heart raced. He looked exceptionally handsome in his long, dark coat, his hair slicked back as always.
She had missed him while he was on his business trip the past week.
"Aurora, are you still there?" Max’s voice startled her. "Why can’t you meet me right now?" he pressed.
"Because my husband picked me up!" Her answer surprised Max right before she ended the call.
Aurora didn’t care if Max knew she was married; it was her only answer.
She rushed to the car, leaving Josh behind.
"Alex, why didn’t you tell me you were returning today..."
