Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 133: You Are Too Slow!
Chapter 133: You Are Too Slow!
"Now we know this foolish David’s weakness," Josh whispers, his gaze fixed on David.
"Yeah, I can’t believe he idolized someone like Patrick." Aurora was also surprised because David never mentioned him.
Josh glanced at Aurora, "Should we leave them? I know where our office is..."
Aurora nods and walks after Josh, leaving Patrick stuck over David’s annoying over-enthusiasm.
...
The room is too luxurious for an intern. This is her first visit, and she feels it was designed exclusively for them.
Aurora could see five tables in each corner, with a supercomputer on each table. When she noticed the units, she was taken aback.
She could see that the computer was upgraded from what she knew Stardust Tech had.
’Is this what Bro Joe thanked me for when I recently asked him about his business? He makes huge money from Stardust?’ She silently smiles, thinking about him and planning to call him later.
She noticed a corner featuring a cozy seating area with a sofa set, a snack corner stocked with food and drinks, and a dining area with a large window that offered a view of the cityscape.
Working in this room felt enjoyable, as she noticed a corner featuring several game consoles, including the latest PlayStation console.
’Did Alex also ask Patrick to make this room only for her?’ Aurora wonders, feeling like she wants to text him now. But then she remembered that it was still midnight at Alex’s place. She doesn’t want to disrupt his sleep.
"You can pick any seat you like." Patrick’s voice echoed from the doorway, prompting Aurora to face him.
Aurora quickly selected a corner table, ensuring no one could see her monitor. She couldn’t risk someone knowing her identity as Zee.
Nevertheless, Aurora nearly chuckled as she observed David selecting a table near the food counter. She just shook her head and refocused on the supercomputer in front of her.
Just after she turned on the computer, Patrick approached her table.
"Aurora, is there anything you need on your desk? Is the computer set up okay?" Patrick stood beside her desk. He understood this girl was super talented, so he wanted to ensure she had everything she needed.
"This would work fine for me." She looked at him with a small smile. "I guess this is new?"
"Yeah. We have bought many new, advanced computers recently." Patrick said. He feels proud to inform her.
"It’s no surprise that the computer looks great."
"Thank you, Aurora. I won’t disturb you any further for now. Try to get accustomed to and comfortable with your workstation first. I’ll give you some tasks to learn later on and even assist me with some of my load," he said.
Aurora understood what Patrick hoped for, but she kept her thoughts to herself and restrained herself from showing her advanced computer skills so Patrick wouldn’t become suspicious.
She comes to this internship mainly to fulfill Aurora Spencer’s wish.
However, she also has a hidden intention of coming here. That is to review her previous life’s pending work.
...
Aurora was absorbed in her computer and didn’t notice lunchtime arriving.
At that moment, a thought popped into her mind; she realized she hadn’t seen Maxwell since morning and hadn’t heard anything from David and Patrick about him.
’Did Max withdraw from this program?’ Aurora wondered, glancing at David, who was playing PlayStation with Josh in the sitting area.
Aurora could only shake her head as she observed that David appeared relaxed.
She sensed that David made no effort to learn in this place. In fact, he followed Josh, who was undercover and not genuinely an intern.
"David, are you done with your task?" Aurora asked, interrupting him. She knew David had received his task from Patrick some time ago.
A sour smile crossed David’s lips as he looked at Aurora. "Of course! It’s break time, Aurora. You should stop, too."
"Lunch? I’m sorry, lady boss; it’s lunchtime," Josh said anxiously as he jumped up from his chair. He had been so focused on the game that he forgot his boss needed to eat.
As Josh stood by Aurora’s desk, he inquired, "Where would you like to eat? I can order some tasty food for you, or you might want to check out the employee cafeteria; they offer an all-you-can-eat option there." freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Even though Aurora wasn’t genuinely hungry, hearing about the employee cafeteria sparked her memories and curiosity, and now she wants to return there.
"Alright, let’s go to the cafeteria!" she answered as she got up. Bringing only her cell phone, she left the room with David enthusiastically trailing behind them.
As they walked to the elevator, Aurora leaned closer to David and inquired, " Why isn’t Max here with us? Did he withdraw from the internship program? "
"What? No. Max is doing the internship with us." David laughed.
Aurora was confused by David’s answer, asking, "What do you mean?"
David chuckled as they entered the elevator, explaining that Max was interned in the Game Division, learning game-related coding from one of the senior game programmers. The position was coincidental with an expertise Max was keen to acquire.
"I see. No wonder I didn’t see him. Why do you think we’re not doing the real thing?" Aurora narrowed her eyes at David. "Did Patrick not give you the real job?" Aurora asked, confused.
"Hmm, he gave me nothing, just a trivial quiz to solve!" He shrugged.
Aurora smiled slightly upon seeing David, who appeared stressed. She understood what Patrick had sent him; it must be a code to test his abilities, much like what he had sent her.
"Were you able to solve the quiz successfully?"
"Not yet. But I will try again later."
Instantly, Aurora feels sorry for this slow-minded David. She lightly punched his shoulder, "That’s a test for you. If you solve that quiz, he might give you something to learn and a task to help him."
"WHAT!? Why didn’t he tell me?" David asked in shock.
Aurora was speechless.
Seeing how slowly David understood Aurora’s words, Josh couldn’t take it any further. He said, "Man, that’s because you are too slow!"
"It’s no surprise he didn’t choose you; you genuinely didn’t realize that was his test?" Aurora said. She smiled and shook her head, feeling sorry for David.
"Damn it! I’m doomed now!" David’s expression instantly turned dark.
