Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 114: He Simply Followed His Thoughts
Chapter 114: He Simply Followed His Thoughts
Aurora already knew about the wedding gift but did not anticipate receiving so much.
"Would you like to open it now?"
Tina asked, her bright smile reflecting her overflowing excitement. She was eager to find out what Aurora’s in-laws had gifted her.
Aurora felt pensive as she recalled Alex. She didn’t deserve these gifts and needed to consult him before opening them.
"No, I’ll do it later," she responded casually, her eyes drifting toward the coffee maker in her study room.
’Should I visit Alex at his office?’ she wondered, glancing at her watch. It was already five o’clock, and he usually needed his coffee.
"Ma’am, is there anything you’d like me to help with? If not, I will head back to my house. But don’t hesitate to call me immediately if you need anything..."
Tina’s voice pulled Aurora from her thoughts. She smiled and nodded, saying, "Aunty, you can return to your house. Yes, I’ll call right away if I need your help."
After watching Tina close the bedroom door, Aurora hurried to make coffee for Alex.
Yet, as she stood at his office door, she felt reluctant to knock.
Her hand tightly gripped the coffee cup, lowering her gaze to the black coffee she had prepared for him—his favorite, which she usually brewed.
’Should I do this?’ she wondered, puzzled and worried that Alex might think she was trying to flirt. Or he could grow suspicious of her once more.
After a few seconds had passed, she decided to return to her bedroom. She didn’t want to confuse him further.
A silly smile graced her lips before she turned to walk back to her bedroom, but before she had gone far, the sound of the door opening made her tense.
She continued walking, hiding the coffee cup before her, hoping Alex wouldn’t stop her. Of course, her hopes were dashed.
"Aurora, do you need me?" he asked while approaching her, curious about why she appeared near his office.
Taking a deep breath, Aurora stopped and turned to face him.
She was surprised to see him so near, just a step away, prompting her to lift her head slightly to meet his gaze.
"Alex, I..." Her sentence vanished as she noticed him staring at the cup in her hand.
"Is that coffee for me?" he asked before turning his gaze toward her.
"Hmm. I..." Once again, she couldn’t finish her sentence as Alex swiftly took the cup from her hand and sipped the coffee.
Aurora silently swallowed as she watched him empty the cup. Now, she hoped this man wouldn’t ask any more nonsensical questions about her coffee.
"Did you make this coffee yourself?" he asked calmly, yet his intense gaze made Aurora uneasy.
’Should I lie to him and tell him it was Martin or Tina who made that?’ she thought, worried that her answer would trap her in Alex’s confusion, often linking her to Aurora Moon.
"Yes," she answered.
’What the heck, Rory!?’ She found herself at a loss for words. Her mouth seemed to betray her. How could she respond when she felt unprepared to do so?
"I love the flavor! It matches my preferences perfectly."
His sincere words warmed her heart.
"I’m glad you like it, Alex," Aurora said, casually taking the empty cup from him.
"Could you prepare it for me each day? I mean, when I’m at home. I usually have it in the morning and afternoon," Alex inquired. But quickly adding, "If it’s not too much trouble." He noticed her slight surprise.
’Wow... Congratulations, Rory, on creating your problems! What made you think to do that for him?’ Aurora could only suppress her frustration inwardly.
Aurora smiled at him, "Absolutely, I can do that. Since you’ve put a coffee maker in my study room, I can easily make it for you..." she said.
"You are so kind, Aurora. Thanks..."
No one can resist this man’s effortless warmth and amiable smile, including Aurora. The moment she sees his rare smile, her heart instantly flutters.
"You are welcome," Aurora replied, avoiding eye contact as she prepared to return to her bedroom. Still, her nonchalant words betrayed her once more.
"Alex, would you consider stopping smoking? I read somewhere that nicotine could shorten your life..." Aurora said, quickly walking away before he had a chance to respond.
’Rory, what happened to you today? Why are you behaving so oddly around him? If this continues, Alex will be confused again.’
Aurora could only express her frustration in her mind as she walked quickly into her bedroom.
...
Alex felt completely baffled.
He narrowed his eyes at Aurora as she nearly ran toward her bedroom.
Her words lingered in his thoughts, and once more, Aurora Moon occupied his mind.
’God, is this your sign? If not, please explain. Why does she resemble Rory? She is Rory, right?’ Alex wondered, feeling a chill as he listened to his own thoughts.
His hand clenched tightly. He stood in place for a few more minutes before finally moving and heading to her bedroom.
He stood momentarily in front of her room before gently knocking.
"Aurora, can you come out?" His eyes were focused on the doorknob.
"Yes..."
Before Aurora could finish speaking, Alex enveloped her in his arms, startling her.
"I’m sorry, Aurora..."
"Alex, what are you doing?" Aurora asked while trying to free herself.
Alex didn’t know how to answer her because he genuinely didn’t understand what he was doing. He simply followed his thoughts.
"Please, stay still, Aurora. Just a moment..." Alex pleaded weakly.
When he sensed she no longer resisted, he wrapped his hand around her, buried his face in her neck, and slowly closed his eyes.
After a brief moment, he opened his eyes and released his hold.
He rested his hands on her shoulders and locked his gaze with hers.
Looking into her puzzled eyes, he smiled to soothe her anxiety.
"I’m sorry. And thank you..." After that, he left.
Aurora tried to stop him as she followed him toward the stairs.
"Alex, please wait!"
But Alex didn’t stop.
He simply said, "I will be back soon..." without turning back to look at her.
Aurora’s step halted, seeing him descend the stairs. She didn’t understand what happened to him.
’Alex, why are you acting weird? Why did you embrace me like that?’
