Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 102: Trapped In His Arms!
Chapter 102: Trapped In His Arms!
’God, please offer your guidance. Should I speak the truth about everything? Even if it may seem insane?’ She silently prays.
Aurora senses she is at a crossroads, uncertain about which path to take.
She felt compelled to be honest about her rebirth. Even if he might not believe her, it was paramount for her to try to tell him because it was the truth.
Aurora squeezed her eyes shut, pondering repeatedly before choosing to be truthful with him.
Just as she was about to speak, Alex’s voice echoed again.
"You know what? Every day, you remind me so much of Rory! There are moments when you even seem to channel her spirit, and I can’t help but feel a bit puzzled. It’s interesting how similar you both can be at times! However confusing it was."
Aurora’s hand grew cold. She attempted to refute him, but his words interrupted her.
"What confuses me even more is that you also know Rory’s closest friend." He paused for a brief moment, but for Aurora, that moment felt like forever. "Honestly... who are you really? Why do you have so much resemblance to her? Your name, your features, your demeanor..."
She slowly raised her hand and placed her finger over his mouth to silence him. Sensing his stiffness, she hurriedly said, "Can you please allow me to speak first?"
Alex replied to her with a "Hmm!"
"I’m sorry, Alex, but I don’t fully understand your point. My name has been mine since I was born twenty-two years ago, and the same goes for her."
Aurora longed to witness Alex’s expression, yet the darkness prevented her.
Nonetheless, she sensed his breath, which felt different, as if he wished to speak but was restraining himself.
"Are you saying my attitude reflects hers? This is who I truly am. I always show my genuine self whenever I’m in the same room with you, except maybe when I’m around your family or in other situations."
Aurora chose not to be honest with him about her rebirth. This man might think she was a spy or anything else his rational mind could conclude. He could send her to a bizarre facility to dissect her thoughts or to prison.
She needed the right moment to be truthful with him. But that time isn’t now.
Despite her limited vision, she noticed his eyes widening.
Her grip tightened, and her heart hurt as she realized his true feelings. She had many questions for him: When did he first like her? Why hadn’t he been truthful with her?
However, Aurora set aside all those questions. She didn’t want to discuss it any further, or she might expose herself.
They were in his parents’ house; it would be dangerous if this man suddenly kicked her out of this place for claiming something so absurd.
"Alex, I recognize how much you care for Rory..." she added, trying to ease his confusion. "You miss her dearly, which is why you gaze at me as though I were her."
Silence!
Alex fell silent, seemingly absorbed in his thoughts.
At the same time, Aurora was soothing her inner chaos, like a hurricane swirling around her.
After a few more minutes, she said, "Alex, let’s get some sleep. I’m so sleepy..."
Alex’s calming voice echoed, "Good night!"
And the bed swayed for a moment before complete silence fell upon them.
With a gentle flutter, Aurora slowly opened her eyes, finding herself gazing at Alex’s back as he faced away from her.
’Good night...’ Aurora quietly thought to herself. She didn’t want to make any sounds, fearing that this man would continue the conversation.
...
Aurora believed her response would help Alex understand and accept her response for what it was, but she was mistaken. Unbeknownst to her, her answer actually confused Alex even more.
What confused him deeply was that she didn’t answer his question about how she knew Aurora’s friends so well. She treated them not like acquaintances but more like long-time best friends.
’Who is she? Is she really James Spencer’s frail and girly daughter? But so was not frail and girly at all. And what’s her purpose in agreeing to marry me?’
So many thoughts race through his mind, and he finds no answers for each question.
Alex lets out a silent sigh.
He remembers what happened when he tried to investigate this girl, but everything he found was completely normal. This girl has never had any connection with Aurora Moon.
Every piece of information about her aligned perfectly with what her father, James Spencer, had shared and with the preliminary investigation that Patrick carried out before he chose to accept her father’s request.
Eventually, Alex decided to set aside all the worries that clouded his mind.
Ultimately, he found himself trying to see things from her perspective and accepting what she said for what it was.
’She might be right. I miss Rory too much and see her as the same person. Come on, Alex, let’s try to change that mindset! They are different, okay!?’ Alex tries to reassure himself.
After a little while, Alex starts to feel drowsy, finally calming his restless thoughts.
Just as he was about to drift into his dream world, a hand unexpectedly rested on his waist.
Suddenly, his sleepiness vanished. Just as he began to turn his head to look at her, he sensed her inching closer, close enough that he could feel her soft skin brushing against him.
’Aurora? What is she up to?’
He feels a chill at the possibility that this girl might try to abandon their contract clause, yearning for a romantic connection in their marriage.
As Alex gently attempted to pull her hand back, her soft thigh nestled against his calf, wrapping around him like a cozy koala hug.
’Fuck! This girl, does she really sleep like a koala?’
...
The following morning.
"Alexander Graystone!! What are you doing?" Aurora screamed in shock as she found herself trapped between his arms. Her face rested against his sturdy chest.
She couldn’t believe there was no longer a pillow between them, and she could see her blanket now resting at the end of the bed, nearly falling to the floor.
"Hmm? Why are you yelling?" Alex’s raspy voice resonated above her.
Aurora’s cheeks flushed, and her heart raced as she gazed at his face.
She was speechless to see him still with his eyes closed.
’What the hell, Alex, are you even aware you now have squeezed me inside your arms? Did you hug me for the entirety of our sleep?’
