Chapter 101: Sharing a Bed!

Aurora feels awful for uttering those words; she hadn’t intended to bring up his troubling history with his ex-wives.

Simply because she felt annoyed with him and tried to stop him from discussing a topic that made her uncomfortable: her underwear.

’Gosh! Why do I have to deal with pervert Alex!?’

Aurora sighs deeply and tries to calm her mind. Yet, the thought of them engaging in R18 activities tonight occupies her thoughts and ignites warmth within her.

Despite being thirty-three years old, she had never experienced a romantic relationship with a man. Her job as Alexander Graystone’s assistant kept her too occupied to consider anyone else.

All this time, she held onto a quiet hope. If the day ever came when she wasn’t working for Alex anymore, she would consider the possibility of starting a relationship.

Yet, her destiny changed unexpectedly. She is now Alex’s wife, no longer his assistant.

Most distressingly, she is aware of all of Alex’s strengths and weaknesses. It’s challenging for her to adapt to sharing a home with him as his wife.

Once she nestled under the blanket, she positioned a pillow between herself and Alex. She wanted to make it clear that she wasn’t seeking to sleep next to him.

After waiting roughly ten minutes with no sign of Alex from the bathroom, her curiosity grew.

Her gaze focuses on the bathroom.

"I understand the bathroom is spacious and luxurious, but really, Alex? What made you decide to sleep there?" She whispers.

Aurora hopes to forget Alex and finally drift off to sleep, but she finds it difficult. Her eyes and mind are betraying her.

"Alex, if you think I will stop you from sleeping on the bed, please don’t worry. I genuinely don’t mind...as long as you can hold yourself to touch me..."

She let out a soft yawn, turning her body toward the wall, feeling slightly resigned as she waited for him to return to the bed.

However, Alex was already standing near the bed without her noticing, and he clearly heard what she said. He was rendered speechless.

A faint, bitter smile slowly forms on his lips as he rubs his eyebrow and narrows his eyes at the petite girl hiding under the blanket.

He walked toward the bed, but when his eyes fell on the pillow she had placed behind her, he couldn’t help but laugh internally.

’What’s your problem, Aurora Spencer? Who wanted to touch you?’ Alex mentally vented his frustration, shaking his head. Rather than rushing to the bed, he cleared his throat to get her attention.

Alex knew for sure that Aurora had not yet slept. After waiting a few seconds, she didn’t respond, but he playfully said, "Well, Aurora, it’s not me you should worry about. But, yourself..."

His words intrigued Aurora. "Me?" She asked, casting aside her nervousness as she processed his bewildering remarks. She turned around to face him.

Yet, she immediately regretted the decision to turn and look at him. She swallowed hard as her gaze fell on him, clad only in his pants, with his upper body exposed. The sight of his defined abs sent a shiver down her spine.

’Alex! Why are you sleeping in just your pants?’ She wanted to scold him, but none of those words ever escaped her lips.

She struggles to keep her composure as she slowly traces her gaze from his abs to his strong chest and lips. Gazing at his smile, she sighs deeply before locking her eyes on his.

"Yes, you..." Alex said, climbing into bed.

He lay relaxed next to her before turning to look at her. They slept in the same position, with a soft pillow between them.

When he noticed her confusion, Alex said, "Well, little lady, you might end up sleeping like a koala hugging me the entire night. If you do, don’t blame me tomorrow."

A smile spread across his lips as he noticed her eyes blinking quickly. The dim light from the night lamp revealed her flushed cheeks.

"Silent means yes, little lady," he chuckled before adding, "Now hurry and get to sleep; don’t dream about me. You need plenty of rest since we have to rise early. We’ll return home after breakfast."

Alex felt it was time to stop teasing her. With a playful smile, he turned and gazed up at the ceiling above, trying to sleep.

...

Silence enveloped the room. Neither spoke nor moved as if they didn’t want to distract or trigger one another. In their mind, the silence felt like hours.

However, it only lasted for a few minutes before Alex’s voice was heard again.

"Are you asleep?" He asked softly, his voice barely rising above a whisper.

Without realizing it, she responded to him, "Not yet."

"Would you like me to switch off the lights?"

"Mhm. That would be a good idea. I can’t sleep with the lights on," Aurora admitted. She had wanted to switch off the lights earlier, but she was aware that Alex preferred not to sleep in the darkness.

However, she now needed to sleep, or her mind would go insane imagining things she didn’t want to envision—sleeping with the hottest, wealthiest man this nation had ever known.

Aurora was grateful that Alex turned off the lights right away without saying anything, but she also felt sorry for him. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

She could hear him moving a few times, and his breath sounded slightly hyperinflated. Knowing he might not be comfortable with the darkness, she could no longer hold herself.

"Alex, you can turn on the light if the darkness makes you uneasy. I don’t mind. I’ll try—" Her voice faded as Alex called out to her.

"What makes you think I dislike the dark?" Alex inquired, glancing at her.

From the moonlight streaming through the window at the end of the room, he could see her face turned toward him, her bright eyes looking at him in panic.

"I know we’ve only known each other not too long, but I feel like you know me so well, as if you’ve known me for a long time, Aurora. Am I right to think like that?" He asked again after waiting, but she remained silent.

Aurora was shocked by his question. Instantly, fear enveloped her as she worried that Alex recognized her.

’God, please offer your guidance. Should I speak the truth about everything? Even if it may seem insane?’ She silently prays.
