Chapter 118: Selections

The moment John opened the box, he got a notification.

[Congratulations. You have triggered a lucky break, upgrading the box partially as one of the options could be a soul technique above High-tier.]

[ High-tier Soul Technique selection. Please choose one. ]

1. [ Geo Storm Hand Fan — Earth / Storm — Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆☆☆ ]

2. [ Infernal Acid Blackfists — Darkness / Fire / Acid — Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ ]

3. [ Genesis Aeon Hydra Art — Chaos / Creation — Difficulty: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ ]

’What the fuck?’ John was startled as he looked at the last one.

"Oh, that’s a good one, brother John." Chuthulos arrived in his avatar form as he said while looking at the hologram displaying the technique.

"Yeah, but how do I even practice it? Chaos and Creation? Sounds like ultra rare attributes."

"No, no, no," Chuthulos said while shaking his head before grinning at John. "Chaos and Creation are not the kind of attributes that grow in plants. They are perceived from the nature of the spirit itself. If you look at it, you can see chaos designed by spirit, purely coincidental chaotic creations in the wilderness, and there’s no lack of creation that the spirit does in this world."

John scratched his head. "That sounds about right, so what kind of Soul Technique is this?"

"It’s a very versatile one. Technically, it’s up to you how to shape it and make it. Genesis Aeon Hydra, as its name suggests, you will create nine heads, each one harboring a unique power designed by you to unleash as you wish."

"For example, one head shoots icy bolts that freeze targets as well as poison them, while another shoots exploding fireballs that mark the targets hit with some kind of triggerable power, and so on. It’s up to what you manage to perceive and shape with your mind from nature. However, the difficulty is sky-high, and this soul technique requires a way higher amount of resources to cultivate than average soul techniques due to how it is practiced."

John blinked and muttered. "I see...yeah, to cultivate nine heads, each with a mixture of attributes, is going to take a crazy amount of resources."

"You can start with one head for now, but it also won’t be easy. Creation and Chaos are required to build a hydra head, and you have to acquire them from nature with your mind. You have to shape the power, a concept of a head first, like creating a blueprint first, and only after that, you can start feeding resources to grow it."

Chuthulos looked at John and continued. "I say you pick it now and practice it later when you have a stable life and can get resources at a stable pace. Moreover, it’ll take time for you to even form the concept of the first head, so just learn the basic steps first and look out for any insight or enlightenment you might get when you are in the wilderness."

"Yep." John selected the Genesis Aeon Hydra Art.

Instead of a scroll or a book, a strange medallion appeared, carved with a draconic nine-headed hydra.

"Infuse a bit of soul energy. It’s going to bind with your soul so you can access the information it has directly in your mind."

"Noice."

John did as told, and in the next moment, the medallion glimmered and vanished.

He began reading information, and after reading a bit, he was shocked. "Wait, so I don’t actually need mastery of attributes to cultivate the heads!"

"Eh? Of course, you don’t need masteries for this soul technique," Chuthulos said with a grin. "Perceiving and shaping your idea of Chaos and Creation for a hydra head is the main thing. Once you create a head, you can feed it resources according to the attributes you want to give to your idea and level it up. The stronger the resources, the stronger the output, but consumption of your soul energy will also be high."

"Anyway, this one soul technique is equal to nine soul techniques in a sense," Chuthulos said as he thumbs up to John with one of his tentacles. "Awesome, right?"

"Wow." John was amazed. "It’s awesome, indeed."

"Now I just hope I can create my first hydra head sooner rather than later."

"Good luck with that."

John then picked up the next item to open—a high-tier Monster Geno Art selection box.

[Monster Geno Arts selection. Please choose one.]

1. [Verdant Maw Mycotyrant—Spore/Flora—Summoner/Controllar type. Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆]

2. [Skyhowl Iron Hunter—Lightning/Air/Metal—Hunter/Repear type. Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆]

3. [Ink-Shade Blightborn Warrior—Shadow Ink/Crystal Blight/Sword—Warrior/Skirmisher type. Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆]

"Well, well, we got a ten-star one, alright. Although attributes don’t match, except for the Darkness aspect in Crystal Blight, she can still learn this and get new attributes, I suppose. The good thing is that she is a sword user, and this Monster Geno Art has a sword attribute, so it’s actually suitable for her."

"Indeed. This one looks like it must have a pretty good set of Geno Abilities suitable to her," Chuthulos said with a nod.

"Yeah, though I still don’t like how I spent 10,000 Xhal Drops when I first got the High-tier Monster Geno Art selection box, and this time I had to spend 100,000 for it," John said with a wry smile.

Chuthulos chuckled. "Told ya the price is volatile. Well, don’t take too long to upgrade Xhalthuun, or the prices might go up."

John weakly smiled. "Yeah, once I get my first weekly 1,000,000 Xhal Drops after two days, I’ll upgrade him."

The next upgrade cost was 500,000 Xhal Drops, so he would still have 500,000 to spend on other stuff.

John selected the [ Ink-Shade Blightborn Warrior ] option, and a book manifested before him.

Putting it in his storage ring, John exhaled and said. "Alright, now I can finally start doing something I wanted to do."

"One bite at a time," John said as he teleported and arrived at the garden. "Becky, where did you put the carrot?"

"The carrot of Space and Light attribute, right? It’s there, Master. Come with me."

Becky led John to where the carrot was buried.

Picking it up, John spent Molding Essence to make a command.

"Cut the carrot into 10 pieces and put them in ten tight, spirit-rich containers that can absorb spirit energy."

In the next moment, the carrot was split into 10 pieces within 10 small glass containers.

John buried nine while keeping one to eat.

This Astral Lumen Carrot (Click me)1 was his ticket to awaken the Space attribute and perhaps Light too, but his focus was Space.
