Overlord Tamer: All My Pet Monsters Have God Potential-Chapter 119: Relentless, Tenacious, Ignitious
Chapter 119: Relentless, Tenacious, Ignitious
The moment John put the small piece of carrot into his mouth, it dissolved into energy and began spreading.
Meanwhile, John felt his senses twisting and shaking while unimaginable pain began flooding him.
After all, he didn’t have an affinity with Space or Light, so the energy of this carrot was not friendly to him.
"Urghh...it’s spreading..." John convulsed on the ground, unable to control his body properly.
"Don’t lose your consciousness. You just ate a small piece, but the chances of death are still there if you lose your consciousness."
"Arghhhh!" John shouted as the pain began searing through every part of his body as the energy wreaked havoc. "Fuck!"
"You have to focus despite the pain. Feel the energy and tame it. Use your soul energy to refine it. This can help you build affinity."
But it was easier said than done. John literally couldn’t do anything at the moment. His senses were out of control, as well as his body.
John moved, trying to get up. The more he tried to control his body, the more he felt pain as the energy responded in kind.
"If you feel too much, expel the energy. You can try again later."
John clenched his jaw, and his eyes that had turned bloodshot opened. ’Screw expelling it! I am going to fucking tame it!’
He got up while gritting his teeth and sat down properly despite his body trembling constantly.
In the next second, he fell to the side as his body suddenly jerked.
He issued a loud scream as blood oozed out of his eyes, nose, and ears, but Chuthulos contained it lest Alfred and others come running out of concern.
"Master!" Becky shouted.
"Becky, you heal him with your skill," Chuthulos said.
Becky quickly used a skill as her quad-insect wings fluttered with sparks and magic pollen that absorbed into John, healing his injuries.
Although the pain wasn’t reducing, John once again tried and sat up, sitting cross-legged.
As John turned silent and focused, the trembling of his body slowed down.
But focusing was utterly hard.
It was like he was forcefully drowning in a sea of flame and he had to fucking focus. The pain he was feeling was a new peak for him. It was like his body was coming apart and joining together again wherever this energy traveled in his body, and eventually, it had spread to his entire body.
John’s mind drifted. The suffering and pain that he experienced took an imaginative shape.
He saw whips of flames wrapping him, pulling him down into the infernal ocean as he struggled to get out.
The burning of his body and the pain inflicted on him reflected his true situation.
But John used this mindscape he imagined reflected his current situation.
His mind shifted to this imagination, and pain heightened, but so did his will to overcome this!
Because there was no way he was going to be a fucking loser and give up!
For his life, his future, and for all those that he loves, he won’t fucking give up!
Outside, John’s body completely stilled, startling Chuthulos.
John had once entered a Singular Sentient Focused State, and now, he did something similar.
He moved himself into the imagination he created that reflected his current situation, and fought there!
Within this infernal sea of pain, he stopped struggling and went down to the bottom.
And as he did, it felt like he was coming apart. A familiar sensation of death crept upon him.
But John ignored it and sat down at the lavatic sea floor, cross-legged and eyes closed.
Around him, a golden-silver stream began floating, attacking him.
It was the energy of the carrot.
He managed to finally focus and felt the energy properly, as it reflected in this imaginative mindscape he created.
Shortly, a dreamy white energy released from his burning figure, chasing the stream and clashing with it.
Outside, John had become completely still and utterly focused.
Even as blood still oozed out and his internals were damaged, he remained in focus.
Becky continued to heal him.
Chuthulos watched and realized what was happening as he checked John.
’What the...’
Chuthulos was shocked.
’Hehe, I was really right to select you, brother John. To think you would come up with this and achieve such a focused state in this.’
One thing was sure: the pain John had felt this time was the new peak for him.
Astral Lumen Carrot of special rank had the power to raise Space and Light mastery to level 5. It was safe to say that it was an Emperor/Sovereign-rank level of resource, but with gentle potency.
If John really ate an Emperor or Sovereign-rank resource, he would instantly explode and die, but Special-rank meant they were special, which was why the Rune A.K.A Chuthulos himself, didn’t stop John from trying this method to awaken his Space affinity.
But John went above and beyond, not wanting to give up despite there still being nine more pieces of carrot.
Instead, his mind evolved. His imagination shaped a hell that reflected his situation.
And he fought there with clarity, and its results reflected in his body.
This was utterly shocking to Chuthulos. To make such a synchronization between mindcape and his physical self...Chuthulos didn’t even know such a thing was possible!
In the mindscape, John gave his all as he controlled soul energy with focus and wrapped it around the stream that was the carrot’s energy.
It struggled intensely, trying to break away and hurt him more, but John endured and relentlessly assaulted it, refining it by forcefully mixing his soul energy into it.
Half an hour passed by in total before John finally tamed it into an orb of energy that floated above his soul sea.
He opened his eyes as his focused state broke, and the moment he relaxed, his mind gave up while his will rested.
Becky caught his head gently before he fell on the ground and laid him down slowly.
John had entered an exhausted slumber. Even if a bomb exploded nearby, he wouldn’t wake up. Not until he recovered.
"Phew, he did it," Chuthulos exhaled. "A few more times, and he-"
In the next moment, Chuthulos’s eyes widened.
John’s body began glowing as a dreamy, silvery aura, hazy and fleeting, coursed through his skin.
’This...’ Chuthulos saw that the orb John refined using the carrot’s energy suddenly dissolved and went to his soul.
"B-Becky, take out the other nine pieces of carrot you buried, fast!" Chuthulos said, excitement visible in his eyes.
Becky quickly did as told and brought out nine containers containing the carrot pieces.
"Put them into his mouth."
"What?!" Becky was startled. "But M-Master was on the verge of death when he just ate one..."
"Hahaha, no worries. He freaking awakened Space affinity, and that too with high liking points! Feed him those carrots fast before this phenomenon is over. He might just awaken a soul talent if he eats the other nine pieces and gains more space energy."
Without further ado, Becky put the nine pieces of carrot in John’s mouth one by one as they quickly dissolved into energy.
Instead of wreaking havoc, they gently spread through him once before going to his soul.
"What’s going on?" Azelis suddenly arrived after tracing John’s aura since she just finished creating her Spirit Physiqe as her progress transferred, and she also destroyed her Monster Geno Art.
"You...are you also a Pet Monster?" Azelis blinked as she looked at Chuthulos.
Chuthulos laughed. "Well, I am not. You can say I am the one who gave John this place."
Azelis’s eyes widedend. "I see...you must be very powerful."
"Yes. For instance, I can destroy all three continents of your world with a blink of my eye," Chuthulos said with a grin.
Azelis didn’t know whether to believe it or not.
So she changed the topic.
"I see. So what happened to John?"
"He ate a certain resource that is not supposed to be eaten by people, especially people of his rank, but it was the only way he currently had to awaken Space affinity."
"So he kinda exchanged blows with death and emerged victorious. The reward is Space affinity. Hehe, he doesn’t know it yet, but he’ll find out after waking up."
"..."
Azelis looked at John, and dried blood spots from his nose, eyes, ears, and mouth were still visible. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"So what is he? Reckless or lucky?" Azelis speechlessly asked. "This is not even the first time he got this kind of reckless, which could kill him. Will he ever stop being reckless?"
"He is recklessly brilliant," Chuthulos said with a grin. "When you grow up greeting death every day, and refuse to give up in spite of everything going wrong, and strive for things you want ardently, you get John Wicked as a result."
Azelis wryly smiled. "He is brilliant, indeed. His soul sensitivity is high, his hard work knows no limit, and he... he somehow always makes the impossible look like a stepping stone."
She knelt beside John, brushing back the blood-stained hair from his face. "But at this rate, he’ll burn himself out long before reaching his peak."
Chuthulos looked down at John, eyes glinting. "He won’t. That’s the thing about people like him. They don’t burn out—they ignite brighter."
A gentle pulse surged from John’s soul, a ripple that caused the very air in the sanctuary to twist faintly.
Becky gasped as light patterns appeared on John’s chest, forming an intricate, geometric sigil that pulsed with silvery space energy and flickering starlight.
"W-What is that?!" Becky asked, her voice trembling in awe.
