Chapter 89: Adventures and Aspirations ( 89 )

Hazuki smirked as he watched the remaining goblins scatter into the woods like frightened rats.

"Damn! If I had magic, I could’ve wiped them all out in one go!" he grumbled, kicking a goblin corpse aside. freeweɓnøvel.com

With the battle over, he turned his focus to the most important part—looting.

He picked up a goblin club and swung it halfheartedly. "Meh... too heavy. And I doubt anyone would pay much for this." He tossed it aside.

Next, he checked another corpse. "Slingshot? Pffft, like hell I’m selling this trash." He flung it over his shoulder.

Moving from body to body, he rummaged through their belongings. "C’mon, something good—" He dug through a goblin’s purse and pulled out a few copper coins.

"...Seriously? That’s it?"

He sighed, but then a thought struck him. "Wait... why do goblins even need money? Do they pay taxes or something?" He snorted. "Or maybe... this is from the poor fools they’ve killed?"

Hazuki shrugged. "Welp. Serves you right, goblins. This money’s mine now. Kekeke." He pocketed the coins without a shred of guilt.

Just as he was about to give up on finding anything worthwhile, something caught his eye.

A ring.

A beautiful one.

He picked it up, turning it between his fingers. The design was intricate, almost noble-like.

"Hoooh? Who did you steal this from, little guy?" He smirked, admiring the craftsmanship. "Well, doesn’t matter. This baby’s mine now." He slipped it into his pouch.

With a satisfied stretch, he finally looked ahead.

The path to the lake and the cave lay before him, still waiting.

Hazuki cracked his knuckles. "Alright, back to business! Treasure, here I come!"

With that, he bolted forward, leaving the blood-soaked battlefield behind, one step closer to his prize.

"Treasure!!"

"Treasure!!"

"Your daddy is coming!!!"

Hazuki sprinted through the forest, his excitement reaching dangerous levels. The small dirt road he followed wasn’t exactly a real path—more like something people or animals had trampled down over time. Thick trees loomed on both sides, their branches casting eerie shadows.

But Hazuki didn’t care.

All I need to find is the lake!!

His mind was already in treasure-hunting mode. His heart pounded, his breath quickened—not from exhaustion, but from the sheer anticipation of wealth.

He could see it now—piles of gold glistening under torchlight, legendary weapons waiting to be claimed, a throne made of jewels just for him.

"When I find it...!"

His pace picked up. His grin widened.

He was one step away from becoming filthy rich.

Meanwhile, in the Beastkin Kingdom, King Lioness III sat in his private chamber. Only a few were present—his trusted advisor, a handful of elite guards, and several maids who stood quietly in the background, ready to serve at a moment’s notice.

A knock echoed from the heavy doors.

"Father, I’m here."

A familiar voice.

"Come in."

The doors opened, and Ellyna stepped inside with her usual grace, her ears twitching slightly as she walked toward her father.

"Father, you called for me?" she asked, her tone calm but curious.

King Lioness studied his daughter for a moment before speaking.

"Yes," he said, his deep voice carrying a rare weight of concern. "There is something I need to ask you."

"What is it, Father?" Ellyna smiled while walking toward him.

"Sit down first."

"Okay~"

Ellyna plopped into the seat gracefully as the maids prepared her a drink. She took the cup with a small nod of thanks before glancing at her father, who pushed a document toward her.

"Read this report."

Ellyna’s ears twitched slightly as she skimmed through the report. Her eyes moved swiftly across the parchment, taking in the details.

"Hmm... So the human, elven, and dwarven kingdoms have all summoned heroes recently?" she muttered, tapping her finger on the edge of the paper.

King Lioness nodded. "Indeed. Five heroes were summoned in the human kingdom, each with remarkable abilities. Their escorts are equally formidable."

Ellyna leaned back slightly, taking a sip of the tea the maids had just placed before her. "Well, that’s not too surprising. The human kingdom has always had a habit of summoning heroes every few decades... but the elves and dwarves, too? That’s unusual."

The king’s expression darkened. "That is why I called you here." He folded his hands together. "Something about this feels different. We do not yet know if they will interfere with our kingdom, but it would be foolish to ignore the possibility."

Ellyna placed the report down on the table and smirked. "You’re worried, Father? I never thought I’d see the great King Lioness III looking so serious over a few heroes."

The king let out a deep chuckle. "Worried? No. But cautious? Always."

Ellyna tilted her head slightly, feigning innocence.. "And what do you want me to do about it?"

"Do we also need to summon heroes for our kingdom?" King Lioness asked, his voice calm but firm.

Ellyna giggled. "Hmm? No need for that, Father."

The king raised an eyebrow. "And why is that?"

Ellyna leaned back slightly, a playful grin on her face. "I already completed my mission."

Lioness sighed, rubbing his temple. "Ellyna, that mission was about securing a potential husband, not summoning a hero. They are not even remotely related."

Ellyna blinked, then smiled wider. "Hmm? Did I not tell you?"

The king narrowed his eyes. "Tell me what?"

She took a sip of her tea before dropping the bombshell with an innocent expression. "Hazuki was someone summoned from another world."

"HAAA!?" King Lioness shot up from his seat, his chair screeching against the floor. "By who!?"

Ellyna shrugged, her tail swaying playfully. "I don’t know. But I can say for certain that he wasn’t summoned by any of the rulers of the kingdoms."

The king stared at her, his mind racing. A summoned otherworlder not under the control of any kingdom? That was unheard of. And the fact that his daughter had found and, in some way, claimed him was even more concerning.

King Lioness furrowed his brows, deep in thought. Before he could speak, Ellyna continued, her voice calm yet confident.

"If you’re worried that the other kingdoms might use their summoned heroes to prepare for conquest, then we should focus on strengthening our military. Improve their armor, enhance their weapons, and recruit more soldiers."

She smiled, resting her hands on her lap. "As for a hero... I believe fate has already brought one to me."

Her eyes glowed softly as her Absolute Eye activated. A faint shimmer of power flickered in her gaze, as if peering into something beyond the present.

Slowly, she raised her hand and revealed a delicate ring on her pinky finger.

"Even fate has sealed our bond."

King Lioness stared at the ring, recognizing its significance immediately. His expression tensed, a mixture of shock, realization, and perhaps even a hint of frustration.

"You..." He exhaled deeply, rubbing his temple again.

Ellyna giggled. "A pinky promise is absolute, right?"

Lioness groaned, leaning back in his chair. "Haaah... That reckless idiot doesn’t even know what he’s gotten himself into."

"By the way, esteemed Father?"

King Lioness narrowed his eyes at her suspicious tone. "What now, Ellyna?"

Ellyna smiled sweetly, tilting her head. "When the time comes, I will go on a journey with my future husband."

"Haaa!?" Lioness nearly dropped the goblet in his hand. "When!?"

Ellyna playfully tapped her chin. "I don’t know yet... but soon."

Lioness sighed heavily, rubbing his temples. "Why do I feel like I’m going to have a headache every day from now on?"

Ellyna giggled. "Don’t worry, Father. I’ll make sure to bring back plenty of interesting stories."

"That’s exactly what worries me!"
