Chapter 89: What Will ’You’ Do now?

Arc 2, Chapter 89 —What Will ’You’ Do now?

.

.

Shugo’s eyes glinted like fragments of obsidian, his expression a mask of cold calculation.

POISON.

His mind danced through a labyrinth of toxins and their antidotes over and over again. Something clicked in his mind finally. And with strict precision, he swept his gaze towards the grounds, no one disturbing his work.

"There!" He exclaimed, pointing at the freakishly mutilated leaves that surrounded the many explosive pits of bubbling dark tar.

That? Why don’t they believe it? Everyone was taken aback, recoiling instinctively.

The black leaves exuded an aura of decay that made their bellies tangle unnaturally. Its black giant petals looked like peeling, MOIST, rotting flesh that has been charred.

The Veiny surfaces of these leaves glistened that torn flesh, throbbing in and out as though breathing.

Ugh~

Could a vile looking thing truly be of any use to those poisoned? Again they had to say they were finding it hard to believe.

Shugo sneered. "Do you want to save him or not?"

What does he care?

He turned away with an air of disdain, leaping onto Leo’s card without so much as a backward glance.

Whether they believed him or not was none of his business.

"Consider this a gift from my Buddy’s boundless generosity." His laughter echoed like the tolling of death.

As far as he was concerned, he was already very generous enough to give a free consultation. Do you know how many people wish for his Free consultation but can’t have it?

"What should we do? Are we really going to feed our boss that nasty thing that looks like burnt breathing human flesh?"

"This... What choice do we have?"

"Dammit Poison Boy, if it doesn’t work, I swear I’ll make you PAY!"

They might be weaker than Shugo, but they swore to make him pay if it doesn’t bloody work!

With no other options for a cure, they rushed down and secured a piece of the leaf, before shoving it down their Boss’s throat and moving his jaws to assist him in chewing.

"It’s working!" one of them exclaimed, watching the purplish hues on the Punk-haired teen, slowly reside and vanish into nothing.

The speed of restoration was almost unnatural—miraculous yet unnerving. How could it not be when thinking of their Boss eating Fleshy-looking leaves?

Everything happened so fast.

In the split of an atom, the Punk-haired guy rose to his feet, vibrant like he was before with no signs of poisoning.

Well, it was good to know that the antidote was fast acting. They don’t believe they’ve ever seen any medicine work this fast.

Good...

Hendrix adjusted his glasses with an air of grim purpose. "I don’t know about you guys, but we can’t keep wasting time here." With his Shard Fountain Pen, he began inscribing words into the air that floated and shimmered with malevolent energy.

"Destroy!" freēwēbηovel.c૦m

The giant WORDS rearranged themselves, forming a long line of letters that shot down like arrows.

Whoosh!

For a moment, the sound of the air slicing into half was all that could be heard.

INCREDIBLE!

Several people had goosebumps just watching Hendrix’s show of power.

These tentacles did all their best to defend their base, tens of jumping out and forming protective barriers around the base seated on the soil.

Hmph.

Hendrix sneered.

One by one, each letter landed on several defensive tentacles and exploded. This alone cleared a path for the FINAL Letter.

BOOM!

Hendrix smiled coldly. "Bon voyage."

GRRWW~

The countless tentacle heads that fought desperately to stop his attacks, all turned soft, before withering at an alarming rate and changing into vomit brown in a blink of an eye.

’At this rate, it should take till morning to restore their form.’

Hendrix stared at the crater he created in the plant. He could see its roots... The remaining roots were slowly regenerating.

.

.

"DIE FOR ME!"

Several people followed Hendrix’s lead, trying their best to eliminate what they could. Even then, they were still very outnumbered.

’This can’t go on like this.’

Levon was exhausted beyond belief. He.. he felt he had been fighting for an eternity now.

Levon was in fact so tired that he accidentally tripped and fell off Rayna’s anchor mid-fight.

"Brother Levy!"

"Buddy!"

"Bro!"

Almost immediately, Artilla, Rayna, Shugo and Leo reacted. Sadly, Levon’s butt had already fallen hard onto the ground.

He had to say that the air down here was thick with the scent of toxic pollen, a reminder of the danger that pursued him.

"Keep running, bro!" Leo exclaimed, finding that all of them were too preoccupied to come to Levon’s rescue right now.

These tentacle bastards must definitely be doing it on purpose.

SON OF A B–

~BAM!

Several tentacle heads slammed into the grounds after shooting in from all angles. What did Levon not do?

Jump, roll, duck... crawl... These tentacles closed in like predatory snakes, snapping and shooting their heads in all corners.

How cruel...

Levon’s heart thundered in his chest as he dodged and weaved through the onslaught.

Sprinting towards the gates with all his mind, his breathing ragged as he continued dodging the many menacing tentacles that loomed in all corners.

3 O’clock!’

Levon jumped high and twisted in the air like a drill, avoiding the venomous tendrils that lashed out like sweeping whips. Levon swore he barely dodged that attack.

His feet touched the floors again, but who knew it would be a hidden root that would catch his feet?

Levon stumbled rolled towards a bush, his heart beating so loud he could hear it in his ear.

They were here! Over 50 tentacles stared at him menacingly, first tilting their heads back, before sending them forth like vipers.

"BUDDY!"

"BROTHER LEVY!"

"BRO!"

In his exhausted state, Levon heard the cries of his teammates and chuckled softly. They made him feel warm.

Despite the dread slithering through his veins, he was never one to go down without a fight.

’It seems it’s time to go all out.’

He still had some Shard energy in him, enough to last him 30 seconds.

Time seemed to freeze, as Levon geared up.

Watching from a distance, Hendrix, Payne Ignier, Rita, Floriana, and a few others, squint their eyes thoughtfully.

—And wouldn’t you know it, Victorio, was also watching Levon’s ordeal from one of the mansion’s hallway floor-to-ceiling windows.

"Levon Belmont... prove to me that you’re not just another Fragile Existence."
