"Look! He’s down there!"

Many crowded by the floor to ceiling viewing wall. These peculiar walls felt like glass, but also didn’t... at the same time.

Down below in the dimly lit chamber, stood Instructor Winhest.

The space below was cloaked in shadows except for the flickering circular hue casted by the flaming torch held in place by the Paper Shard floating above Winhest. frёewebnoѵēl.com

Levon’s sharp gaze narrowed in scrutiny.

’This is supposed to be a prison, right?’

Sorry, but his idea of Prison was one that still held true in the outside world. Where are the chains? Where are the prison bars

Looking at Winhest’s feet, he seemed to see dead, partially dried-up vegetation.

Suddenly—-

GRAAAAAA!~

A familiar roar shattered Levon’s thoughts. And from the darkness emerged a shadow that moved with lightning steps towards Winhest.

Levon knew it should be a Ghoul... but what did it look like?

The floating light went higher, casting a bigger hue that enclosed the figure and Winhest.

"Twin Neck Ghoul." Winhest began coolly.

Oddly enough, even in this viewing space, they could hear everything he said. How? They didn’t know.

"My dear abandoned pupils," Winhest continued, his voice still dripping in disdain. "You’re all lucky I’m in a good mood today."

In translation, he was willing to speak a little more than he usually did.

"The Twin Neck Ghoul is but 1 of 6 Level 1 Ghouls."

"All Vampires start off from either 1 of these 6, before slowly mutating and changing into higher upgraded versions the stronger they grow."

Gruuuua~

The Ghoul snarled, with sticky saliva dripping from the corner of its rotting lips.

Hungry... So hungry.

It swished forward with boundless force and elongated claws as hard as serrated steel. But no matter how many attacks came his way, Winhest stood still in place, casually smacking and slapping the attacks away as if shooing a fly.

It looked as though Winhest had only lightly touched the creature, and it was sent flying a distance away.... But not too far.

In rage, it rose to its feet once more, still not giving up...It’s been a long time since it had Human FOOD.

It could hear the pulsation of the blood running in Winhest’s veins, and could also feel its hunger overriding its senses.

Human blood was like gold to its kind. And in this hellhole it has been locked into, they only send in poultry, cows, frogs, insects and other lesser valued sources.

Of course, as a Level 1 Ghoul, it couldn’t think properly for itself, relying solely on instincts, almost like a mindless zombie overpowered by the hunger for brains.

"Effortless." Someone muttered from above.

"Too effortless," another replied uneasily. "

They had to admit that despite Winhest’s moves looked unbothered and casual, his movements were fluid and precise, each strike calculated to maximize damage. His mastery of combat was undeniable... and a little superhuman even for them.

"So this is a Twin Neck Ghoul.." Levon muttered, narrowing his gaze in scrutiny.

Just then, the hideous ghoul jumped back and charged again at Winhest—its towering body, elongated limbs, and razor-sharp claws moving faster and faster in frustrated fury.

"As the name suggests," Winhest continued. "It has 2 necks protruding from its body... attached to a single head."

Yes! They could see it now. Before, they were too focused on the battle. But now with Winhest’s reminder, they could see 2 separate necks plaited and intertwined, attached to the Neck.

"These necks are flexible and detachable."

Just then, one the necks launched towards Winhest, its tip attached with a single fang that was ready for insertion.

Dammit! Many now recognized this terrifying Ghoul.

"Typically, one of the Twin necks is weaker than the other." Winhest advised, coolly waving his hand to stop the Fang from sinking into his neck.

"Know that the one doing the attacking is typically stronger—with an attack and body strength so formidable it could reduce a bounder into rubble... This is the one you want to attack."

’I see.’ Levon inwardly nodded.

.

.

"Multiply." Winhest commanded softly.

All this while, Winhest hasn’t used his shard to attack. So seeing his Shards moved into action, everyone subconsciously leaned forward.

Great!

Winhest’s paper shard holding the flame, now multiplied into 3, the second and third ones reaching for the neck supporting the Ghoul’s head.

The Ghoul seemed to realize its intent, hastily bringing its second neck back to fend off the attack.

"As you all know, it might not be intelligent as it has higher ranking vampire classes, but its instincts for survival are still subpar."

As Winhest explained, everyone is focused, too scared to blink and miss a thing.

During the fight, the Ghoul’s fingers would sometimes fall and drop, yet, the fingers were alive, crawling back for reattachment.

Its nose also fell, as did its ears.

"Hey..." Someone muttered in shock. "Its neck... the one supporting the head.."

"I see it now!" Another replied. "There’s a small hole there. What’s up with that hole?"

Listening to the murmurs around him., Levon had an idea about the strange tiny hole on the weaker neck. "I think Winhest is aiming for that."

Rayna nodded, though perplexed. "But what’s that hole? What does it connect to?"

Hendrix standing close by, pushed his classes in. "I presume its heart."

Yimu nodded as well, a thoughtful light glowing in her eyes. "Instructor Winhest didn’t start attacking the heart immediately, meaning it must be easier to aim for that hole, compared to the heart."

"I think so too." Rita agreed. "I once fought one of these. Their chests are stronger than Titanium."

"So how’d you kill it?"

"Tsk..." Rita sneered when thinking of how dangerous it was fighting this particular type of Ghoul. "I sliced off its head, it turned to ashes. The way I see it, I must have touched that hole without knowing it."

Rita looked at the Twin Neck Ghoul thoughtfully.

At the time, she concluded that slicing off the head would do the trick, but now...WRONG!

The confidence she had on her understanding of this Ghoul, was completely shattered.

Fortunately, it wasn’t the Ghoul she had chosen for the Pop Quiz. Or else...

BOOM!

Down below, Winhest’s demeanor changed. And Levon had a hunch that Winhest’s good mood... might be slowly weaning off.
