Chapter 56: Vampire Hierarchy

Arc 2, Chapter 56 — Vampire Hierarchy

.

.

The more Levon heard. The more intrigued he became... particularly with the matter involving vampire servants.

The higher the vampire’s rank, the more vampire servants they tend to have.

’Why can’t a weaker Vampire get as many servants as they want? Can it be that servantship takes a toll on a vampire too?’

Levon thought about it deeply.

At this point, there was too much he didn’t know.

He would be a fool to go off with the ’general’ and public knowledge known about ’movie’ vampires.

What was true and what wasn’t?

These he would have to discover on his own.

Servants, in this case, were humans who made deals/contracts with these vampires.

These humans ran their master’s business during the daytime when the sun is high and out.

Still, one must know that very powerful vampires do not fear the sun.

Levon would like to imagine that one can see them strolling around on sunny days with thick trench coats or suits paired with glasses, overly large hats or umbrellas... But that was all in his imagination.

They say knowledge is power.

Winhest’s words sank in slowly, but he wasn’t done yet.

"That’s it. The rest of their laws all fall in line with the hierarchy that chains their world."

Soon, Winhest controlled the paper cube, revealing a new side to the group.

[Hierarchy.]

"From strong to weak, Vampires ranked like so..."

Emperor.

—Grand Duke,

—Duke,

—Earl,

—Viscount,

—Baron,

—Shain,

—Half-Shain,

—Meriq,

—Half-Meriq,

—Lesser Noble,

—Ghouls.

Levon burned all 12 ranks in his brain.

Although Winhest didn’t show it, he knew there must be sub-ranks within these ranks.

After all, if there are thousands of Lesser Nobles, what classifies each as the strongest or the weakest within their ranks?

’So hypothetically, if I get beaten, I’ll have to start out at the very bottom, as a Ghoul?’

Well, Levon thought about it.

’As a Bloodren, if I want my strength recognized, I’ll have to take on a worthy opponent on my own...Possibly, a Duke or even an Emperor.’

Levon massaged his chin thoughtfully, but soon noticed Artilla tensed up demeanor.

BLOOD.

Fisting her palms, Artilla was completely oblivious to the blood she was letting out. She felt no pain.

It seemed that the moment the word Baron appeared, she tensed up, revealing a wolfish fury bottled up in her all this time.

’She has a story.’ Levon noted. Perhaps a story involving a Baron.

Sigh...

Levon gently placed his hand on her clenched fist, waking her from her stupor. Shugo, having noticed her strangeness, also poked her teasingly.

"Hey, Arty, you feeling any good?"

"I—"

"Here..." Levon gave her his handkerchief. This was the second time he was doing this..

"Thank you," Artilla didn’t speak more on it, and Levon and Shugo didn’t ask what secrets she had hidden in her heart.

[Vampire Anatomy.]

The class continued, though it was soon coming to an end:

"For now, you will only focus on Ghouls."

"What is a Ghoul? It’s the result of a vampire’s First bite off its victim."

’The 1st Bite?’

Levon’s eyes widened slightly when seeing the terrifying real-like drawings and images popping up on the cube.

"Level 1 Ghouls" Winhest continued.

"These Ghouls look human and can mask their smell to some extent. However, they still can’t master Form stability, leading to their flesh falling off from time to time."

Hang on? So Vampires Practice Form Stability too?

Artilla felt disgusted when watching the nose from one of the images fall off.

Then, the creature hastily picked its nose and positioned it back in place.

So when one is a ghoul, they struggle in keeping their falling and rotten fleshy pieces intact?

Wouldn’t it mean that all vampires, no matter how strong they are, are just a pile of rotting flesh?

They are the undead, after all.

A thought flashed within the group.

In movies, a Vampire’s true appearance is hideous, but they can sometimes control their facial features to look clean, beautiful or handsome.

’Is that what Form Stability is to a Vampire?’

In the end, everyone came to understand that apart from Supernatural strength & Speed, Level 1 Ghouls had no other advantages.

"Some of you might have faced Level 1 Ghouls during the final phase of your examination... as well as level 2 Ghouls."

That’s THE ONE!

Seeing the new image appear, Levon, Artilla and Shugo knew they faced off a Level 2 Ghoul instead.

According to Winhest, Level 2 Ghouls have erratic personalities, with their human sides fighting against their vampiric side.

Half of their face looks normal, and the other half looks unnatural.

’So super strength and super speed is also all they have?’

Levon furrowed his brows.

’No... apart from that, he said they could also make their nails grow... but no longer than 12 inches.’

It was also incredible to know that their body parts will no longer fall off so easily, though their flesh will rot 10 times faster instead.

Faster rotting flesh means more intense smells. However, they will learn how to mask these smells to a somewhat agreeable state.

Up next were Level 3 Ghouls. These ghouls were just enhanced level 2 Ghouls. The only difference now was that one side of their face has won the internal war within them.

But which one?

Winhest chuckled darkly. "In all vampire history, only one person has managed to stand triumphant against his vampiric side."

It was clear that everyone else in all human history that gets turned, eventually falls to darkness.

One could say that the bitten human who succeeded, became the first and only Adam of his time.

Incredible!

Levon, Shugo, Artilla and several others, sucked in their breaths in disbelief and excitement.

How amazing must one be to overcome such a feat after turning into a monster?

"That person eventually gained vampire powers, but his will and Human-side allowed him to be both living and undead."

"Then again, this has nothing to do with you."

Fufufufufu~

Winhest released a haunting cackle when staring at the little, puny insects who call themselves Bloodrens.

"As the good instructor that I am, let me assure you that once beaten... I will be the first to free you all from your miseries. That... I can assure you."
