BOOM!
Winhest’s words sent catatonic explosions in the group’s mind.
Their hearts swelled and their eyes flickered with static. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Finally, it’s time to fight!
D.O.T — Defensive & Offensive Tactics
What else could it mean besides Fighting?
Fufufufufu~
Winhest’s laughter crawled around them ominously.
"It’s quaint... the way you all mistake your ambition for strength."
"I see your chests are swollen, because many of you probably can hold your Shard’s form for over 15 minutes. But does it guarantee?"
Winhest paused, sweeping a taunting gaze across the masses. "Absolutely Nothing."
His words were like buckets of water quenching down the fire they managed to ignite.
Winhest leaned on his desk lazily.
So what if you have Shards?
Without knowing the enemy, you’d only be going in blindly. They think they are ready for combat, but are they really?
The majority of the group fell into turmoil.
However, a select few looked unfazed and relaxed, almost as though they weren’t listening to Winhest at all.
Yimu was smiling innocently while playing with her Card Shard that appeared.
The card, though small, now animatedly twisted its body, carefully carrying the lid from a nail polish.
Then, it began to paint on her nails.
That’s right, within Yimu’s special item were her many high-end nail polish brands and colors stored in rows and columns within her locker.
Without Nail polish, a freshly coated nail every now and then, Yimu had the feeling she might actually die... or worse, bite off her own fingernails because they were too plain for her eyes.
The Organization had ensured that everyone of these special people, had their do or die items they couldn’t ’live’ without.
In the classroom, Floriana was still asleep as usual, yet, a pair of floating scissors still swayed against her chest, as though it too was asleep, in a dormant state. That was her shard.
Rita, AKA, Pickler, had her needle shard assist her in building a house using her many toothpicks.
As for Hendrix, his Fountain Pen Shard was slowly churning the pages of the book he was reading.
’57! 58! 59! 60!...’ Payne Ignier’s brass knuckles were doing pushups while Payne inwardly counted.
Don’t ask how a pair of brass knuckles could do push-ups, but they did.
Many others also revealed their shards in one way or another.
They didn’t know it now, but what they were doing was actually building trust and reliance with their shards.
Have you forgotten? Shards have egos and temperance of their own.
As for Victorio, he didn’t reveal his shard.
Victorio met Levon’s eyes and grinned maniacally.
’This guy again...’
Levon chuckled, finding it a little sweet to still be targeted by this madman even after his progress was far slower than the rest.
As for Shugo, his Fork Shard was carefully carrying food from his snack bag to his mouth.
Artilla, a dual shard user, didn’t reveal any of her shards... perhaps because she didn’t want Levon to feel bad.
Don’t forget that Leo couldn’t keep his Shard unleashed for more than 11 seconds. Everyone else could go for 7 minutes, and even 30 minutes.
Artilla could go on for an hour before feeling exhausted and drained. Compared to that, Levon’s 11 seconds was nothing.
As for Leo, his a unique card appeared before him, assisting him in punching buttons on his game box. His card shard was definitely different from Yimu’s.
It was hard to explain, but one glance, and anyone could tell there was a different glow and aura to them compared to Yimu’s.
Leo first revealed his Shard, but after one glance at Levon, he too destabilized its form.
.
.
My, my, my... What a showy class.
Many revealed their shards, some were just showoffs, and others did so training.
The fact that they were able to get their shards to do exactly what they intended, was progress on its own.
It was cute how they acted, despite their ears twitching and peeking high.
Fufufufufu~
Winhest’s laughter pierced the atmosphere like a blade.
"Well, then... the show must go on, doesn’t it?"
Soon, more words formed on the floating cube.
[Topic A— Anatomy and Vampire Law.]
For a moment, a chilling wind carried questionable whispers as many stared at the words.
Vampire anatomy they understood.
But... Do Vampires, in all their glory, live by certain LAWS?
Why does that feel too far-fetched to be real?
The majority felt that if they were vampires with so much power, why live in a lawful society?
Levon’s eyes flickered, but he said nothing.
Vampire Anatomy and Law.
"Today," Winhest began. "You’ll learn what it truly means to face a creature of the night."
His deep voice led a resonant echo that filled the room. It was dark and haunting.
"First, we’ll begin with the basics: Vampire Law."
"Vampire Law is a straightforward set of rules governing interactions between vampires."
"Excuse me, Instructor Winhest." someone raised a hand. "So in this haven in power, you’re indirectly saying that Vampires have laws of their own they abide by? After what I saw during the examinations, I find it hard to believe they abide by RULES."
Winhest shrugged. Believe it not, it was a fact... an ironic one nevertheless.
It was poetically ironic that even in the deepest depths of Hell, 3 main ingredients kept things going:
—Law.
—Order.
—& Structure.
This makes one wonder if within the heavens themselves, have laws of their own to keep their kind in check.
Humans, vampires, gods... what does it matter? They must live by rules.
But who decides what rules to follow?
Winhest continued:
"Now, there are ledgers of rules the Organization has come to understand.... However, your focus will be on these first few."
—First Vampiric Law: Vampires must respect territorial boundaries set by more powerful vampires.
"This prevents unnecessary conflict within their own kind."
—The second Law: no one is to go after marked prey. Unless they’re stronger."
"That is to say that if for example, one of you becomes some vampire’s prey, no other vampire can go after you, unless it’s a stronger vampire."
"Like dogs, vampires leave their scent on those they target."
—Third Law: Vampires must strictly follow Code for contracted ’servants’ in order.
"These three..." Winhest continued. "Are the most important Vampiric Laws they abide by."
As they say, knowing one’s enemy is the same as securing one’s VICTORY.
