Chapter 57: GHOULS!

Arc 2, Chapter 57—Ghouls!

2 minutes more...

The 10 minute mark was closing in and everyone instinctively felt the urge to pin Winhest to the ground.

Levon craned his neck, his eyes still focused on the paper cube that now showed a detailed basic diagram of a Ghoul.

"Ghouls," Winhest remarked. "Have bodies that are marvels of supernatural engineering—enhanced strength, speed, and heightened senses—all gifts of their cursed existence."

"They have a variety of ways they can grow stronger. However, the easiest for them is through Blood consumption."

Winhest pointed to the diagram’s depiction of elongated fangs. "These fangs are not just for show. In a general sense, fangs are the primary weapons ALL Vampires rely on, regardless of what hierarchy or rank they are."

Levon narrowed his eyes inquisitively. If that’s true, then—

"Destroying its fangs will leave it handicapped?" Shugo interrupted Levon’s thoughts, mumbling what he and many others thought.

Artilla shook her head softly, "It might, but I don’t think they can go down so easily."

Many couldn’t help swallowing loudly the more they listened.

Each breath they took felt laborious, as though the very air itself resisted their existence.

According to Winhest, its fangs are sharp enough to pierce steel.

THAT’S STEEL!

A mere Ghoul could bite and shatter into steel with its fangs. Then imagine how powerful those top vampires are?

From the diagrams, it shows that once they sink their fangs in, they inject their venom into the victim’s bloodstreams.

However, in the case that their fangs get broken off, they can still use their overly long nails to transmit the venom through while sucking human blood.

’I see.’ Levon nodded.

Even if their fangs are broken, its jagged cut-off ends are still weapons on their own.

A vampire can still bite on you and drink up your blood. However, to spread its venom and infect you, it must use its nails while drinking one’s blood.

Levon’s lips formed an unpleasant twist.

’Does news to be somehow connected to its victim when passing its venom?’

"Nail transmission is possible, however, it’s not their most desired method." Winhest advised.

This method took far longer to accomplish, like a patient in a hospital taking IV drips in the hospital.

It was very inconvenient during battle unless their prey was tied up.

Of course, the stronger the vampire, the shorter the time it took for nail transmission.

Soon, everyone learned of the 4 Primary stages/Levels all Ghouls must go through.

When it came to their strengths and weaknesses, Winhest roughly brushed over these facts.

"Ghouls have 1 heart, located in the same position we do."

Everyone took in Winhest’s words, instantly understanding that perhaps some vampires above the Ghoul rank had 2, 3, and possibly 6 hearts.

—And just when the lecture is reaching its climax Winhest paused with a large grin.

"Today’s lecture ends here. I’ll be seeing you in a week and a half."

With that, he was gone.

"Did... Did that unreliable guy just say: See you in a week and a half?"

Seated in the classroom, everyone was flabbergasted.

SON OF A FISH!

They should have known such a day would come when this guy would just decide to leave hanging for so long.

Sigh...

Everyone shook their heads wryly, preparing to head to the cafeteria for lunch.

In under an hour, they arrived at a majestic pitch black building that shot to the skies. They felt this must be the darkest ’black’ hue to exist in today’s world.

At night, it camouflaged itself so well that one would miss it entirely if they didn’t know the way.

Just like everything in this place, the Cafeteria was divided into various sections and floors. Those inside can see the outside world, as if they were outside themselves.

However, for those outside, all they could see was its pitch black exterior.

Another interesting thing to note was that the half-Bloodren 10s, 9s, 8s, and 7s... all shared the same ground floor with them.

Everyone had their own section, which was like a mini cafeteria catering just for them.

The difference in meals was obvious for all to see.

As Bloodren 10s, they didn’t have some things the menu options for Bloodren 9s had.

Those Half-Bloodren 10s who passed but refused to fight, had even worse meal options than them.

Don’t get them wrong, the meals here were scrumptious. However, it was hard not to compare when seeing what other groups got.

Levon was also taken aback to know that there was another Hoive layout within the cafeteria that went over 50 stories underneath the ground floor.

In a nutshell, those below Half-Bloodrens 10s, ate underground.

This was the law of the jungle.

Levon shrugged.

After the meal, he headed back home.

It was incredible that he could reach his dormitory in a far shorter time compared to before.

Levon chuckled softly.

His current condition was far better compared to before when he used to be gasping for air with wobbly feet.

Sure, he was still breathing hard, but it wasn’t to the point of complete exhaustion.

As for Clara...

Since their initial meeting with Clara, they have yet to see her shadow anywhere around the premises.

It was just 5 PM, give or take.

Levon continued training alongside Artilla, and sometimes with Shugo, though rarely.

"Great!" Artilla jumped animatedly, a contrast to her usual icy exterior. "You’re now able to hold your form for 2 minutes!"

Despite now being able to hold her form for 1 hour and 17 minutes, she was still happy for Levon.

11 seconds to 2 whole minutes, was a massive improvement in her eyes.

—Trash.

Some passersby felt Levon should be ashamed to be walking alongside Artilla.

As a man, where is your shame?

Even the weakest among them now, has reached a hold time of 19 minutes. So where do you come in having the nerve to feel proud with a hold time of just 2 minutes?

They felt Levon’s existence was a strain in this building.

"Well, I did it." Levon ruffled Artilla’s hair again.

Tch–

No wonder adults like rubbing the heads of younger people. It’s really soft. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Where is Shugo?

After seeing Artilla to get dormitory room, Levon frowned, standing before his dormitory door.

Noticing him, Shugo reacted fast, but Levon still caught his grim look when staring at his arm.

"When did you get a burn?"

"Well," Shugo sighed heavily, scratching his palm vigorously. "I must have eaten a poison I’ve never seen before... I suspect it’s this one."

Shugo swiftly took out a bag of snacks Levon had also never seen before.

It must be the one given by the order in Shugo’s locker.

"Will you be okay?"

"Yeah," Shugo assured. "I just didn’t expect any strong reactions yet. But don’t worry. I’ve gone through worse."

Shugo began talking poison jargon and Levon knew he would be fine.

Placing an around Shugo’s neck, Levon dragged him off to the baths.

At the same time, Leo slowly placed his game down, looking at Shugo’s disappearing silhouette.

In another second, he too stood up, also heading for the bath.

A while later, everyone returned.

11 PM was nearing and they knew the rules.

As usual, Levon ignored the strange slumbering sounds that no one else seemed to hear.

The slumbering snore has long plagued him since his arrival.

—Lights Out!

All across the mansion, the fatigued group of Bloodren 10s, finally closed their eyes, drifting with ease to Lala Land.

Everything was as it should be: calm and peaceful.

However, 2 hours later... Levon heard another peculiar sound.

~Swish!

His eyelids shot open vigilantly.
