Arc 3, Chapter 175 — Holding The Fort

Tired...

Exhaustion sweat their the masses like a tornado. And while several people slept soundly, while others worked. But how long do you think they could actually continue before finally breaking down?

ZZZZZZZZ~

They were out like a light barely one hour into their work. And it was only around Noon, a majority of sleeping Bloodrens woke up in their various Cabins.

As for Levon’s group, it wasn’t till 1 PM that they woke. The clock worked a little too well, ringing in their ears like a chicken in need of a good throttling..

Levon rose and stretched, as did Leo and Shugo. Several others woke, but still say, as if waiting for instructions. It was odd that the other group had their leader, but they subconsciously waited for Levon’s orders, despite many not liking him.

"Although Clara isn’t here, we still need to tidy the place up."

Not just for hygienic purposes, but for safety reasons too. Looking around, Levon’s lips thinned. "First, we’ll Gather all the broken pieces."

"Remember." He emphasized. "No piece is negligible. Gather ALL broken wood and glass."

One doesn’t need to be a rocket scientist to know what he was thinking.

The Ghouls might return when the sun sets. So how can they leave their cabin this way with so many hotels in the walls? No!—They must barricade the ace up and fix any openings before the sun sets.

In addition, they must also get rid of all blood stains and trails from the cabin too.

Recalling the intense battle last night, several people’s bodies felt paralyzed.

It’s true! The cabin did a lot of shielding and protecting during the fight. So if everything was broken down and left the way it was, wouldn’t that make it easier for more enemies to attack them next time?

"Hey," the leader of the other group spoke out. "On our side of the cabin, we discovered clubbing supplies yesterday."

Oh? Levon raised his head thoughtfully. It seemed the Order had expected such.

Levon would have been amused at the Order’s weird sense of humor, but he was still dead tired, despite the few hours of sleep he got.

Soon everyone was adorned in cleaning scrubs and gloves, some gathering the piles of broken pieces, while others began filling buckets with water and heading it to the roof.

Levon pulled his gloves with a determined look. "Time to get to work. We have to do all repairs and cleanup in under 5 Hours!"

"Right!"

With that, everyone dispersed to their various assignments. Leo was taken aback after seeing someone from Batista’s team on a far cabin roof. It seems they too were cleaning the roof.

Well, it was disgusting.

Leo and another focused on mopping and cleaning the roof from all infectious blood and ashes.

Cleanup! Cleanup! Cleanup!

Today reminded many of their usual cleanup days in the Mansion.

...

Time sped fast in the blink of an eye. It was 5:47 PM When they were done with repairs and cleanup.

What a day. Several collapsed for a breather after a good day’s work. They were surprised that they had finished 13 minutes before their intended time.

So far so good...

They don’t claim to be expert repairmen, but all holes were now patched and all larger broken glass fragments attacked piece by piece thanks to the help of their shards.

They created heat using their shards, and softened the edges of the broken pieces before putting them back together like a jigsaw puzzle. And in places where they couldn’t be replaced with glass, they used wood instead.

One must know that during the battle, some broken pieces flew out the train. So of course they preferred to use wood to cover these spots. They did this in a RUSH—in a little under 6 hours.

All in all, they were very satisfied with the results.

Fufufufufu~

It was silly how they destroyed some of the wood on the balcony railings to do the replacements. And when the glass parts of the windows were all done, they torched it, allowing the thousands of cracked lines to fade and vanish, regaining the windows seem less clarity.

At this point everyone was exhausted but satisfied.

Grrrr~

The sounds from their bellies grew too loud, so loud it threatened to overpower the churning sounds from the steam train.

Poor them, they still have 1 hour, 28 minutes before Supper.

With that thought, they hit the showers in turns. In Levon’s group, the girls went ahead first. But in the other side’s group, it was the boys who went in first.

One of the girls was badly injured. So sending the girls to the baths first, would only delay everyone’s time.

They had to admit that after such a long grueling battle and a hard days work, a good bath sure could fix one’s mood.

Both sides were refreshed and nearly dressed, stepping back into the shared space a few seconds before dinner. And sure enough, the Clock gave his usual cries, signaling that the time was now 7:15 PM—Dinner time.

Great!

Many smiled like there was no tomorrow, softening their butts onto their seats after their meals popped out.

"So good..."

Some truly felt like crying after sensing the relief their bellies felt. And as they are, both sides conversed.

"Those bastards are most likely to attack tonight when we’re dead asleep."

Everyone knew that it was better to eat up fast and rest before the nightly attacks begin.

With such thought in mind, they fell on their beds right after dinner time, slumbering away with weapons underneath their pillows.

Levon swore he fell asleep 10 seconds after falling on his pillow. But barely 2 hours into his sleep, Levon rose up, wanting to cry again.

They ARE BACK!

Grahhhhh~

Many wished they could reincarnate as brain tumors and kill these flipping Ghouls before they turned!.

What is this? Why was this script so different now? How come these vampires were attacking at 10 PM?

The sun had barely set and these vampires had actually planned to attack so soon?

Dammit!

They had teary eyes but couldn’t let out a single drop.

They were so WRONG. Who said these vampires can only attack in the dead of night?

Look!—It was only evening time, and these ghouls had decided I made their cabins without mercy.

The doors and windows they reinforced and kept shut, were threatening to shatter again with how much force the enemy was using. Everyone was up, holding on and doing their best to stop the enemy from coming in.

Who was it?... Who said vampires can only come in when invited?

Are you sure you’re not secretly working for the enemy and spreading fading fake news in the form of folktales?

Did these arrogant and rude Ghouls look like they needed invitations to come in?

After yesterday’s matter, everyone now has a tactful understanding of how their battle formations would play out.

It’s better to protect the cabin, than have it destroyed again and again. After all, any object... no matter what it is... can only take so much destruction before completely wearing out.

This was just say 2... meaning that had 2 more days to go.

"Leo and you .. you’re with me!" Levon pointed at the leader of the other group and Leo. "The rest of you... stay back and hold the fort. And whatever you do... DON’T GET BITTEN. You got that?"

Both gangs nodded heavily, as Artilla assisted in opening one of the balcony doors to let them out.

The other leader’s eyes widened exaggeratedly when staring at the tens, hundreds, and thousands of ghouls that fled the forest and kept crawling onto the majestic pillars where the tracks rested on.

Forget about the ones trying to climb up. What about the many ghouls already in the cabins?

They were so many that their towering silhouettes seemed to cloak the moon itself. The ghouls stood on the rooftops, looking at the Food that appeared on the balcony below.

Subconsciously, Levon, Leo, and the other guy, stood back on back as they fought to clear their path. And with a single leap, they jumped from the balcony to the rooftop, still fighting enemies mid-air... But it wasn’t enough.

"Don’t hold back!"

Levon’s meaning was loud and clear.

Whoosh!

The group activated their shards, doing away with their daggers and hidden weapons.

Are you insane? There were just too many ghouls outdoors for them to rely solely on their hidden weapons. freёnovelkiss.com

Slash! Slash! Slash!~

Leo and the other guy moved as fast as they could in all directions... though Leo kept following the guy around, secretly keeping him safe.

Levon looked at the katana on his hand, closing his eyes briefly and feeling its body vibrate softly. And when he opened his eyes again, the Katana had split into 2 and transformed into a weapon that was quite to his liking.

Good... Levon smirked ruthlessly.
