Chapter 152: FIGHT!!!!

Arc 3, Chapter 152 — FIGHT!!!!

.

.

The warning message sang out severally, causing the eyes of many across the mansion flickered. Even Levon had to admit that if it was in the past, 20 minutes would be too much time to fight in the dark amongst today’s Ghouls of varying strengths.

But unlike the past when they solely relied on their instincts... this time, they activated their Original Breathing technique, their eyes glowing slightly with a glint of the shard’s powers swirling about.

"Hahahahha," Shugo chuckled, sending his fork to slice off the many twin neck pairs flying his way. "Well, it makes a fucking difference."

He could see everything in 2D, like a scribbled cartoon drawn by a 3-year old.

"No, no... Don’t hurt them!"

"Silence! Your worthless existence! I shall kill these humans and devour them for our pleasure!"

The Level 2 ghouls exchanged conversation with their human sides. One side of their face looked normal, and the other side looked hideous and grotesque. Whenever they attacked, the human side would struggle to disrupt their actions, gaining control midway through the battle.

"Dammit! Just go to SLEEP!"

Many of these Level 2 Ghouls snarled in fury, using a bit more of their strength to shut the human sides of them down.

All 2 level 2 ghouls present were Twin neck Ghouls. After putting their human counterparts to sleep, the flesh covering necks suddenly tore open a hole, and out flew their second necks like vipers, going in for the kill.

Huh.

Shugo dodged to the side, sweating a bit by how Level 2 Twin Necks could actually be. They were a lot smarter than Level 1s.

At level 2, although they were still ’relatively’ dumb, this is the level where a Ghoul truly starts gaining some intelligence.

Taking on 2 Twin necks wasn’t so simple, but was still very doable for Shugo.

’Their weakness is in the Black mole on the second neck supporting the head.’ Shugo reminded himself while counterattacking. ’Find the black mole, and they’ll be destroyed.’

Shugo could only multiply his weapon into 2. And both weapons were engaged in deep battle from both twin necks. Even in the dark, Shugo could see and sense all attacks, thanks to the Breathing technique.

"Don’t worry, buddy... I’ve got it!" Leo appeared behind both twin necks after eliminating all Level 1s.

Time to end this!

...

While the duo focused on the lesser ranked Ghoul, Levon was engaged in a heated dance with a Level 3.

Bolting upright, his eyes narrowed as adrenaline surged through his being. Well now, he could see color and brightness, even within the dark. Like a spider, Levon felt he now developed multiple eyes in all directions.

It was strange... seeing as even the flow of energy in the atmosphere was tracked by him. And any disturbance of wind and breath gave him an accurate depiction of any attack... even a sneaky one from behind his back.

Levon multiplied his Katana into 4, keeping one holding the door in place and the other 3 pulsating with a cool light, assisting him in battle.

Levon’s Katana sliced through the air, its cold winds acting like knives. One could get sliced and diced into pieces just from these winds, before the blade reached its target.

But just then—WHAT?

Now, he was certain he was battling against a Level 3 Ghoul. Before, he was just a spectacle. But now, seeing the Ghoul that shrunk itself by 2 feet, Levon’s eyes widened.

’There’s no mistaking it. This is a Level 3 Ghoul. According to Winhest, they can shrink or buff up to taller heights by at most 4 feet.’

This means they can drink to 4 feet, and they can also expand to 4 feet taller from their original heights. This shrinking, doesn’t just mean in terms of height. Their entire body will shrink or grow to at most 4 feet more than where they started off.

All Winhest said was that 99.9% of Level 3 Ghouls cannot shrink or grow past 4 feet.

With that knowledge, it was up to them to understand that there should definitely be exceptions to the matter. Perhaps there were some that grew 6 feet and even 12 feet more. Who knows....

However, one thing was certain. According to Winhest, no matter how exceptional they are, NO Level 3 Ghoul can shrink to less than the size of a newborn baby.

~Dammit!

Levon jumped back. His attack missed impact because the ghoul shrunk and maneuvered its body slyly.

’More intelligence and adaptability... So this is what Winhest meant.’

However, he was still far less intelligent than him. What’s more, he had already assessed what sort of Ghoul type he was up against. Even if it was more covered up than the Level 1s and 2s, he could still spot enough clues from their battle.

’Although it has 2 eyes... It’s clearly a One-eyed Ghoul.’

This means that if he took off this fake flesh it cloaked around its face, he would see a Cyclops existence with 2 pupils and purplish vein lines all around it.

’It’s weakness is its eyes.’

For a moment, the room was a chaotic blur of movement as Violence. Levon’s many Katana’s gleamed in a heated dance, each stroke precise and lethal.

Although its intelligence was slightly better than the other ghouls beneath it... it was still weak enough to be tricked by Levon.

Pouff~

Without missing a beat, one of the Katana’s twisted around and drove through the back of the creature’s head, slicing through the giant eyeball behind it. At the same time, Shugo and Leo had also finished up all Level 1s and 2 Ghouls in the room.

It’s over.

The last of the ghouls fell with a guttural screech, its body disintegrating into ash, just like the many defeated ones before it.

Crazy!

"It’s terrible the abilities that Level 3 Ghoul had." Shugo exclaimed. "Buddy, I got a glimpse of your battle and almost ordered popcorn."

"Yeah," Leo nodded. "Don’t forget that their ability to shrink and grow is just the first stage of their understanding towards Shapeshifting. Fortunately, A vampire doesn’t truly master Shapeshifting till it reaches Baron Class. But what was up with its body?"

"I think I understand," Levon looked to the ashes thoughtfully. I recall Winhest saying that for Level 3s, they all have one distinct body part that is tougher than the rest. In the case of this Ghoul 3, I think its shoulders should be its toughest part."

Even with all his toughness, his attack didn’t slice more than an inch into the Ghoul’s shoulders.

It took only 5 minutes for them to clear the Ghouls in their room.

In the dark, the group assessed thoughtfully... but not for longer than a minute or 2. How can they continue when the sound of battle still echoed loudly in their ears?

"We’re not done yet." Levon stated, slowly making his way towards the sealed room door. And just when they were about to step out of the room, Rayna’s voice bellowed from the other side of the door. No doubt, Artilla must be with her as well.

Time to clean out the Mansion!

They say nothing is as beautiful as destruction itself.

Such a sight was marvelous to look on by the standards of many.

Within the mansion, many others in all corners, fought desperately against the waves of Ghouls. "Is it my imagination, or are they 3 times more than what we normally deal with?"

"You’re not hallucinating! I think so too. They’re just too many this time!"

The yells of many echoed while deeply immersed in battle.

Springing into action, did not jump over the railings as they usually did, but chose to clear the many Ghouls surrounding the pathway.

In the end, the emergency doors and seals won’t come undone until all ghouls are dead., So what does it matter if they start from up here or down there?

One of Shugo’s oversized forks spun like a whirlwind, sending several ghouls flying backwaters like bowling pins.

Then, Shugo and Rayna followed up, bashing and destroying all Ghouls along the way. Artilla and Leo took the opposite direction, while Levon dealt with ghouls jumping and crawling from the 4th floor above them, as well as the 2nd floor below them.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Wherever Levon looked, there were Ghouls emerging like handkerchiefs pulled out from a magician’s hat.

Why did this scene look more like a Zombie Apocalypse scene than a Ghoulish one?

"Stay Down!"

Levon stomped on the shoulder of a level 1 ghoul, causing it to tumble alongside other ghouls supporting it up.

Then, midway through their fall, these ghouls’ eyes widen in shock.

Ash!

They turned to ashes before their landing.

"Wisp of destruction." Levon’s words bellowed softly, as a strange whitish mist slowly emitted from his Katana’s sharp ends, slowly curling itself through its many targets.

Pouf!

Pouf!

Pouf!

Several Level 1 Ghouls only felt their weaknesses exploited as the mist’s flexible whips suddenly turned into a sharp decisive end.

And then, everyone’s jaw dropped.

This was insane!

Since when can mist change its form to be tough?
