I Will Survive Till The End: Blood Extermination Academy-Chapter 124: Yaeger’s Dilemma
Chapter 124: Yaeger’s Dilemma
Arc 2, Chapter 124 — Yaeger’s Dilemma
.
.
In the end, a Cat was still a Cat.
Although his ferocious and menacing aura could drive almost anyone to the hills, Levon felt Yeager looked a little cute, especially when angry like a puffer fish.
Yaeger angrily stammered. "YOU-YOU-YOU!"
"I, I, I-what?" Levon giggled, plainly raising his head to stare at the unhinged Kitty that was baring its claws and fangs.
Despite knowing his name was Levon, Yaeger still called him HUMAN.
From the first time they met till now, from beginning to end, there was not one spec or iota of respect in that tone of it.
Perhaps in its eyes, it saw Levon as something with a value far lower than dirt.
"Yaeger, Yaeger, Yaeger... Isn’t it funny?"
"Do I look Like I’m Laughing Here? Funny? What the hell is funny here?"
"You." Levon slowly raised a finger, pointing straight at him. "You, Yaeger, make me LAUGH."
The chains of restraint keep Yaeger in place after he attempted an attack.
~BANG.
He fell to the ground, a deep glow of hate clouding his crescent eyes.
Why?... Why did it end this way?
Yaeger inwardly cursed, wondering how this human knew of that despicable RULE.
Levon walked forward, halting before the defeated Kitty. "From the way you call me Human, I know you look down on me. But—"
Levon paused. "The individual whole you so casually dismissed, now represents the key to gaining True Freedom... So again, I ask, isn’t it funny?"
Yaeger took a deep breath, raising his murky eyes. "Human, whether it’s funny or not, there’s one thing I want to understand—How did you know about that RULE?"
The last time he was used as a shard, was a long, long.... long time ago.
No one should be alive now, who knows of that Rule. So how did he do it?
Levon’s eyes moved subtly, recalling the 3 words written on the corridors just before the gates.
...
{Power is real and alive, bound by honor and a thirst for gore. Call its name... you are Worthy...}
...
Those were the last few sentences from the paragraph written there.
Yup.
Right from the moment he sunk into this space, he had read those words again and again before heading in to see Yaeger.
Power in this case—was represented by Yaeger.
Yaeger was ’bound’ by honor, to obey whatever his ’wielder’ told hold of it. However, that master must also prove to be worthy of becoming its Wielder.
Behind those words was a simple, triangular symbol.
Thinking deeper, everyone’s shard left peculiar symbols or tattoo marks on their bodies the first time they assimilated with the shards.
Even now, if you look at their bodies, one would find those tattoo marks.
That unique symbol belongs to the shard and is a unique identifier, proving they’re all different.
But it seems Yaeger’s shard might be the only one that can allow its users to sink into their bodies.
The first time he met with Yaeger, the arrogant and defeated Feline yelled the words: This King will remember this.
... Such words made him ponder.
Can it be that Yaeger was the Shard King?
Well, no matter how much he thought, he couldn’t understand why such a powerful entity had been imprisoned in his body since birth.
He felt the words left behind were for him to see. But—
WHO DID IT?
Levon’s eyes gleamed ominously.
Who left him with such a huge present in his body?
’There’s no free lunch in this world. Rather than thinking it’s a gift, I’d rather believe it’s a conspiracy.’
Still, he had to thank the person for giving him hints on how to tame this ticking time bomb. And now, he can use Yaeger’s powers at will. However—
’Should unseal and destroy all locks, all at once, I don’t think my current body will be able to handle it.’
For now, one seal undone will do.
It’s not that he hasn’t tried. Without sinking in, Levon has tried unlocking the next one, but it wouldn’t budge no matter what he did.
’Right now, I’m too lacking, and too unworthy.’
The strong recognizes the strong. He felt his will was enough to unlock the first one. But if he wanted to unseal the rest of Yaeger’s powers, he had to prove it to himself and the seals.
.
.
Drp, drp, drp~
The sound of dripping blood constantly echoed.
Levon’s expression drooped.
"Yaeger, I could have made a contract, leaving you in a worse state than this."
It’s true, he could have made a contract to keep Yaeger as his slave.
"YOU DARE?"
Yaeger was truly furious. How dare such a weak and puny human have the guts to even think about enslaving him?
"Relax, that’s not my style." Levon shrugged. "Rather than go through that route, I opted for a partnership between us."
Hmph!
Yaeger snorted, saying nothing. Yet, his foxlike ears were perked high.
This was also something he didn’t understand.
After using the Heavenly RULE of Sharded Obedience, he expected to be slave-bound with his thoughts striped, and all his powers drained and given to this human.
But it seems the Human may not be so bad after all.... Either that, or he is plain STUPID.
That Levon opted for a partnership meant he was either plain stupid or overly confident in his abilities to keep his little life intact from him.
Human, what are you planning?
"A partnership or a truce, is the best outcome for us both." Levon replied, unfazed by Yaeger’s scrutiny. "Judging from our brief conversation earlier, and your reactions, I’m guessing you don’t know who trapped you in my body. Likewise, I don’t know who did it... Someone willingly paired us together, for reasons best known to them."
YES!
Yaeger narrowed his eyes dangerously, giving Levon an even more scrutinizing gaze.
’The human is right. I was so angry that I didn’t even think it through. As the Shard King, not just any human can pair with me.’
’Since mankind’s existence, only one in the past could do it... But this boy... this boy’s body is better and more accommodating than the last human’s.’
’Someone must have known this and paired us both. Now, it’s hard to tell whether it’s from a good place or a bad one...’
There’s a saying that a hunter is always keeping an eye on its traps for when a rabbit falls in.
Of course, hunters can sometimes set traps and head back home in wait, before returning to check these traps several days later.’
Countless thoughts flew in Yaeger’s head the more he analyzed.
’Perhaps from the moment he and the boy were tied, the culprit has never shown their face. But, there will be a day....’
’That’s why, this human must live, live long enough to lead me right to those who did it.’
Weeu~
A slight wind blew, freezing away all of Yaeger’s hot-bloodedness.
Yaeger suddenly realized just how important it was for this human to live.
’I’ve seen a glimpse of the human’s surroundings.’
Yaeger knew that without this his shard ability, it will be hard for the human to grow strong, strong enough to one day stand face to face with the invisible hands around them.
"Partnership..." Yaeger muttered the words.
Now, he fully understood the human’s plans.
He had to admit that although the human was quite weak, his body provided that there must be something special about this human. What’s more, his intelligence has already proved him to be a good and reliable partner.
Yaeger took a deep breath, dispersing the seeping waves of fury emitting from his body.
Soon he became docile and agreeable.
"Alright Human Levon, this partnership... let’s do it."
Levon chuckled, realizing that he no longer called him ’Human’, but now addressed him as ’Human Levon.’
What an adorable kitty.
Levon shook his head wryly, sitting on the coating of flood surrounding them.
It was odd to say that no blood strained his clothing, despite sitting directly on it.
The Big Kitty was still going on and on about his weak state.
"Human Levon, you’re just too weak." Yaeger spoke with evident disgust on his face. "If our enemies come now, they’ll just flick you to death with this wiggly water body of yours."
Yaeger was actually growing anxious.
What has happened to human society since the last time he was here? Why did the vampires seem to multiply in number since that time?
No... something wasn’t right.
Yaeger quickly hid his thoughts, focusing his attention on Levon.
For his survival, he had to Keep this human ALIVE at all Cost!
"Human Levon, listen well and listen well. Now that we have a partnership formed, you have to get yourself stronger for the both of us!"
As a Shard King, he knew more about Shared abilities and rules than anyone else.
"First, you must understand that all shards, including myself, are anxious for gore and battle. That is the true reason we were created—Battle against the enemy!"
