Chapter 119: Limited Time

Arc 2, Chapter 119—Limited Time

.

.

This entire week has been crazy for Levon. He felt so physically and mentally drained that he wouldn’t be surprised if he developed a habit of sleepwalking too.

Alas... the one he really envied was Florianna who could sleep and walk even during the day.

Wiping his hair with a towel, Levon left the bath space. Last night, the mansion had its weekly night drill.

’Night drills occur once a week. There are still 5 days left before the week ends.’

Levon massaged his chin thoughtfully.

This means he could go out for training without worry of any surprise Night Drills springing up.

Good.

In no time, the sun lowered his high butt making way for the darkness.

—Time to Eat.

For supper, he ate moderate amounts, ensuring he left the cafeteria at 7 on the dot.

Don’t underestimate the need for digestion prior to training.

He didn’t want to admit it, but the sort of training he’s been through these days could make a grown man shit himself senseless.

The night came and many turned in for the day.

Zzzzzzz~

The mansion was filled with slumbering melodies.

Levon jolted from his bed, looking around momentarily.

Then, he was off...off to train with his new Instructors!

"This can’t go on for long."

Sultan’s words sliced through the air like blades.

Tonight, Sultan and Gaara sat on tree stumps with a strangely formed table between them.

Before them were: teacups, a peculiar kettle, and a chessboard.

Their eyes were on their chessboard, moving the chess pieces with relish. And far ahead was Levon who was battling for his life.

"Do you feel it?"

"Feel?... Hah. Feeling is an understatement." Gaara replied in a low tone, yet his voice carried a certain booming effect to it.

Sultan’s lips curved. "I’m glad you agree. Afterall, he has 5 more days, and we can’t take things slowly any longer."

SLOWLY?

You call all this ’slowly?’

If Levon heard their conversation, he might laugh himself to stupidity. Sadly, he couldn’t hear what they said.

The clueless Levon was battling to no end, his entire body now covered in blood from his enemies and himself.

But before he could react, he felt explosive pain on his back that sent him flying once more.

Say no more, Levon knew who attacked him. But unlike last time where he fell to the ground, this time, he—

Eh?

Levon’s face stretched into a mask of dread when seeing the giant toad below.

SHIT!

It opened its mouth, moving its tongue in a blur.

Instinctively, Levon unleashed his sharded Katana, slicing at a calculative point that landed a hit on the tongue.

Unfortunately, he miscalculated. There wasn’t just one tongue... but 4.

This... this.. This...

Levon’s heart sank when something warm and sticky slammed and wrapped around him.

SHRUP!

His fucking world began spinning, as he twisted downwards into its excited mouth.

’It’s so tight. I CAN’T MOVE.’

Levon exerted himself, trying to pry free from his sticky prison. Soon—

Gulp~

The giant toad swallowed its meal and continued about its business without a care in the world.

Sultan moved a chess piece forward, his already cruel smile turning even crueler.

"Old friend," Moving a chess piece forward, Sultan’s words tickled the vibrations in the atmosphere in an eerie manner. "Even if adorned in the trappings of power, a creature bound by its nature cannot transcend its essence... To assume otherwise is to misunderstand the immutable hierarchy of existence."

Gaara scratched his head stupidly. "So in translation, what the hell are you babbling about?"

Sultan moved yet another piece, taking down a few of Gaara’s. "Old friend, I’ve told you to use your head more. You’re all muscle and no brain."

Sultan raised his head, narrowing gaze at the toad that was several miles away. "In the end, true elevation lies in surpassing the limits opposed by one’s nature, no?"

"I SEE..." Gaara seemed to understand, also turning his interest to the toad. "So that’s why you sent him there."

"Indeed." Sultan drummed his lips rhythmically. However, a dangerous aura now seeped through his core.

’Levon Belmont, it’s best you don’t disappoint this old soul, or I will be the one to teach you about the many roads to HELL.’

.

.

’It’s heavy!’

Levon did his best to steady his breathing, when enveloped by darkness.

Can you feel it?

Can you feel the immense pressure all around him?

It was odd to say that the walls here gave off a dim crimson light that granted some illumination to Levon.

What the hell? Was this a whale or a toad?

How could the Order breed such an enormous thing?

Propelled by rhythmic contractions from the walls, Levon found himself sliding down the toad’s gullet.

If his Biology served him right, that should be its gullet... or its Throat for layman terms.

Yes, he felt it should be its gullet. But judging from how weird creatures in this place were, who knows what was in here?

Looking around, Levon found leaves, giant bugs, and even tree logs all swimming down the gullet with him.

Bzzz~

The flies tried to break free, but were helpless against the peristaltic waves regurging out from the toad’s belly.

Levon sighed. Well, he too was helpless.

There was also the strange pressure from the walls that kept all prey down.

Just then, a powerful fly tore out of its sticky prison and began flying back and upwards to the mouth they all came from.

But then what did Levon see?

Poufff~

Jet sprays of sticky clouds shot out from the walls in all directions.

Honestly, the sticky clouds looked like bubblegum when hardened, burying the insect into the sticky seas below.

It was buried deeper than it was before, making its earlier attempt impossible to do now.

The strictly stream’s sounds bounced across the walls, flooding Levon’s ears.

’There’s no way I can break free from this. The walls and the ’seas’ here, are coated with this sticky substance.’

After observation, Levon found that the sticky substance wasn’t harmful to him or anything else.

Sucking on the lollipop in his mouth, Levon pressed his lips, making them disappear altogether.

’Hold on, what’s that smell?’

Levon scrunched his nostrils. The air was now humid and thick with an acidic tang.

’I should be getting close to its belly. Which means one thing...’

—DIGESTION!

SWAHHHHHHH~

The stream... The sound from the stream had completely changed, growing louder and louder with every passing second.

"Blood Hell!"

Levon spat out a cuss, knowing it should be a waterfall leading into the stomach.

Everything happened so fast, that before he knew it, he landed in a lake of gastric juices.

The liquid burned Levon’s flesh as the enzymes began breaking down his flesh.

What to do? What to do?

A wave of despair flooded Levon, but he swiftly punched down the feeling, rolling the lollipop in his mouth a hundred times over.

’There’s always a way out. No matter what predicament I’m in.’

Perhaps he was saying it to convince himself, or saying it because he truly believed it.

Either way, he calmed down in a flesh, throwing his eyes around and disregarding the burning pain on his body.

"That’s it!"

On closer inspection, Levon’s eyes lit up.

The burning sensations only echoed out in places that weren’t cloaked with the sticky goo from earlier.

"I get it. The Sticky gooey mucus is not only there to ensure no prey escapes, but is also there to slow down digestion."

"This makes sense... After All, if everything in here was to be digested all at once, I’m afraid this toad, no matter how massive it is, won’t be able to handle so much food in its body all at once."

In conclusion, the mucus can buy him time, until he finds a way out.

It was incredible to say that once in the belly, surrounded by so much acidity, he could now move, as the acidic associated in breaking him free.

Activating his Katana, Levon had a plan.

"Whirling Sweep!"

Whoosh!

Several slashing arc waves escaped his Katana, twisting midway and forming a tornado.

Then, countless logs flew into the air, mounting high on a thick bed of sticky goo.

"I don’t know how long it can hold, but with how slowly the mucus is disintegrating, I’d say 11 minutes."

11 minutes before the acid gets a hold of the logs. And then, things will move away quicker.

~BAM!

An earthquake-like movement, almost did away with his hard work if not for his quick thinking.

Levon stared up the waterfall, frowning deeply.

Sure enough, as he suspected, the mucus flowing down the waterfall was decreasing.

"The Big guy should be resting. But if he rests without eating, this means the mucus supply will diminish."

This was definitely bad timing.

Levon’s face turned cold and frosty when thinking of his options.

Dammit, why was this stupid toad sleepy now?

If a regular toad can sleep for 14.6 hours, then what about this one? Maybe it’ll be asleep for days, and perhaps weeks.

So what now?
