Adrian’s efforts had bore fruit. Unfortunately, he didn’t have the time to pat himself on the back as he hastily dismissed the notification and kept running through the maze-like streets.

"Out of all of them, why did she have to come after me?" Adrian cursed under his breath as he navigated his way within the city.

Sophia was hot on his trail, and she always got to him no matter how he tried to outsmart her. Using [Camouflage] was out of the question because Sophia possessed a tracking skill which would lead her to him. That’s what made it even more difficult for Adrian to evade her.

While he could have rushed towards the slums to hide his presence, he knew Sophia too well. She would most definitely follow him inside, and then it would lead to a different problem altogether.

Firstly, the people of Central City might have accepted the Ravens, but the same wasn’t true for the heroes inside the slums. Besides, Sophia was a pretty well-known figure in Nexaria because of her abilities and appearance.

As such, the slumdogs would jump on her the moment their eyes fell on her. Even if Sophia was a level 60 mage, there was only so much she could handle. In the worst case, her presence alone might trigger a war between the Church and the Slums.

"I don’t want to put her in any danger, that’s for sure- FUCK! A dead end? Are you kidding me!?" Adrian punched the wall while looking for an exit. "I must have taken a wrong turn at the square... darn it! Focus, Adrian, think!"

Sophia would be close behind, meaning he had to leave as fast as possible. However, retracing his steps was not an option.

With no other way out, Adrian opted to climb the wall before him. But as he was about to reach the top, a wind blade struck his hand, causing him to lose his grip and tumble back to the ground.

Adrian didn’t even have to turn to realise Sophia had caught up to him. But since she didn’t use any lethal attacks on him, maybe there was some hope he could go past her.

"Who are you, and why do you have that sword?" Sophia demanded, her eyes narrowing.

Instead of answering, Adrian looked down, seeing his reflection on the wet surface.

’Good, at least my face is still covered. I was worried the fall might have revealed my face.’

Sophia’s eyes immediately went to the man’s face. Unfortunately, the hood concealed the man’s features, leaving only a silhouette in the dim light. The man might have turned to face her but didn’t answer her question.

Sophia, growing impatient, took a step closer, the hem of her robe brushing against the damp floor.

"I won’t ask again. Tell me who you are!"

A muffled chuckle came from beneath the hood as Adrian was reminded of Sophia’s feisty nature. Being a Latina, it would be surprising if she didn’t lose her cool now and then.

The lack of response from Adrian made Sophia’s frustration grow as she channelled her mana. Soon, her hands crackled with magical energy.

"Fine, if you won’t talk, then I’ll just have to make you."

Sophia then conjured a ball of fire in her palm, ready to unleash it on the stranger. However, she hoped the man would see her magic and change his stance.

Unfortunately, the man stood there with his hands in his pockets and seemed unfazed by Sophia’s presence. The cocky attitude the man showed was infuriating.

Without delay, she threw the ball at Adrian, who surprisingly dodged her attack easily. She couldn’t believe her eyes. It seemed she was having a bad day. First, the zodiacs nullified her magic, and now the strange dodged her attack like it was nothing.

Little did she know while it seemed like Adrian was idling, he was instead dumping all the attribute points he had earned into agility to increase it to fifty. The sudden increase in his stats was why he could dodge the fireball with ease.

As the smoke cleared from her attack, Sophia realised she had broken the wall behind the stranger, giving him the path of escape that he desired.

"Don’t you dare leave-" Sophia snarled, but Adrian had already made his way to the other side of the wall.

Watching Adrian’s retreating form, Sophia launched a barrage of projectiles made of wind. Each one trained on the stranger like heat-seeking missiles.

"Try dodging these!"

She unleashed the missiles on Adrian. The projectiles whizzed through the air, and Adrian still managed to dodge a few of them, but true to their nature, they didn’t let up. Eventually, Adrian was blown away by the following explosions.

"Are you willing to talk now?" Sophia asked, conjuring a gust of wind around her to convince the stranger.

However, to her surprise, the stranger rushed towards her instead of giving up. Before Sophia knew anything, she was already within the man’s vice grip. With her hands compromised, she couldn’t weave the signs to use her magic.

"What are you doing? Let me go!"

"A wise lady once told me... Sometimes words aren’t enough to speak the truth," Adrian finally broke his silence, his voice muffled by the hood covering his face. "This happens to be one such instance."

"A-Adrian?"

However, before Adrian could respond, he felt a sudden distortion in the air behind him. Both of them knew what was about to happen, and Adrian tried to throw Sophia away to protect her.

However, the dungeon portal spawned sooner than expected and made Adrian lose his balance, and they tumbled into the mysterious dungeon together.
