Chapter 32: Miss Abigail Is Your Woman?
Peters softly chuckled before he answered, "Miss, the $200 is not for the rent but for the items in the fridge and all the supplies in the pantry."
"I see," Abigail smiled, imagining her three-month food stock in the pantry.
"I hope you don’t mind paying that much, Miss Abigail..." Peters’ apologetic tone once more made her feel sad for him. This man was so unlucky. His boss sent him to another city, and now the homeowner punished him, too.
However, Abigail also understood the homeowner’s ultimate decision. Peters should have followed the rules. If their contract stated Peters could not rent the house to others, he should not have rented it to her.
A thankful feeling surged in Abigail’s heart as she realized the homeowner had allowed her to stay. She hoped for an opportunity to express her gratitude to him.
"No, Mr. Peters, I don’t mind..."

While on the third floor.
Sawyer stared intently at his laptop screen when Ronan initiated a FaceTime call with him, and Ethan immediately joined. He overheard Ronan speaking to Abigail through the speakerphone.
After the call ended, Sawyer didn’t react or say a word, but his intense gaze remained fixed on Ronan.
"Sir, if I may ask, how do you think my call goes? I followed your instructions to the detail. Please say something, sir. Whatever it is." Ronan spoke, feeling as if he was already halfway to hell, ready to face his punishment.
However,
Before accepting his punishment from Sawyer, Ronan planned to drag the stupid traitor Ethan down with him. It wouldn’t be fun to enter hell alone, right? He wouldn’t have been in such a dire situation if he hadn’t followed Ethan’s suggestion to rent his empty house to Abigail.
"You did fine. But..." Sawyer’s voice trailed off as he looked at Ronan and Ethan in return, adding to their unease. He then directed his intense gaze at Ronan. "Why were you speaking so casually to her?"
Ronan was rendered speechless. "Sir, did I speak casually to her?" He was confused and visibly nervous. He distinctly remembered speaking as formally as he possibly could to Abigail. How could his boss say otherwise?
Sawyer didn’t bother to reply to Ronan’s question. Instead, he asked, "And what items did you put in your fridge that made her bill so high? Seriously, $200 for groceries?"
Ethan and Ronan nearly coughed at Sawyer’s words.
’Boss, didn’t anyone inform you that $200 would only cover a single day’s worth of you and your personal staff’s meals?’ Ronan chuckled inwardly before he turned to the traitor Ethan, seeking help explaining the situation to their boss.
Ethan nodded slightly to assure Ronan that he understood what was asked. He cleared his throat before speaking, "Sir, Ronan did indeed charge Miss Abigail a high price..."
’What the heck is this traitor trying to say?!’ Ronan gasped, unable to believe that Ethan had beaten him again. Suppressing his anger, he silently prayed for his connection to fail. But, of course, luck was not on his side; the connection remained strong, and FaceTime was still active.
"I am fully aware of how much my groceries cost. That’s why I was displeased to hear that. He should have adjusted the charge by considering who he charged. The highest he charged her for the groceries should be $20..." Sawyer said.
Sawyer directed his disappointed gaze at Ronan before continuing, "Ronan Peters, you know the girl is facing financial difficulties, yet you still overcharged her? Why do you do that?"
Ronan was taken aback by his words. He had only met Abigail once and had no idea she knew Sawyer. He thought Abigail was simply a tenant because Ethan handled the rent process.
’Darn it, Ethan Smith! You should have warned me about this from the beginning!’ Ronan silently took a deep sigh as he scolded Ethan with his gaze.
"Sir, I didn’t know about it," Ronan helplessly said, "If I had known that Miss Abigail is your woman—"
"COUGH! COUGH!" Sawyer almost choked upon hearing Ronan’s words. His face instantly turned crimson as he looked at him.
"Sir, did I get it wrong?" Ronan immediately corrected himself. "I apologize if I wrongly addressed her as your woman, sir. But honestly, boss, I can see that you fell in love with Miss Abigail Snow with just one glance. Right, Ethan?"
Another cough could be heard, adding tension to Ronan and Ethan.
Still, in the room with Sawyer, Brody hurriedly poured sparkling water into a cup and handed it to him. "Sir, please..." free𝑤ebnovel.com
Sawyer accepted the glass. He drank it while thinking, ’Did I fall in love with Abby? Why would Ronan assume that?’
After putting the glass on the table, Sawyer glanced at Brody. He dismissed him to return to his post. Then he looked at his laptop screen, staring at Ethan and Ronan for a while before asking, "Is it that obvious?"
"Yes, sir..." Ronan responded happily. He was overjoyed; finally, their boss’s heart had melted. What happened now was worth celebrating.
"Ethan, did you also see what I saw?" Ronan asked as he narrowed his eyes at him, curious, wanting to hear this traitor’s opinion.
Looking at Ronan, Ethan smiled before he answered, "Man, why did you ask again? You should know that when I arranged for Miss Abigail to stay upstairs, it meant...I know!"
Ronan laughed, satisfied with Ethan’s answer, "Damn it! You are indeed smart, Ethan! You played your card nicely, becoming a cupid to our boss with Miss Abigail..." he raised his thumb to praise Ethan.
This is what Ronan needed; their boss had a woman beside him. He was now exhausted, always with their boss almost every day, even on their holiday. If Sawyer summoned them, they would drop whatever they were doing and rush to see him.
With a woman beside Sawyer, Ronan believed he would forget them all and only focus on his woman.
Ethan couldn’t help but laugh, too, upon hearing Ronan’s praise. "You are so right, Ronan. I’m indeed smart and have keen observation," he said while tapping his head gently with his index finger as a proud smile emerged from his lips.
